Freaking amazing. I never stopped to think about how my addiction to DK’s Crash Course was equal to that of an arcade game. Probably explains why I was determined to beat this one, but gave up on Yoshi’s Fruit Cart and Octopus Dance.
You nailed the description of the arcade feel in a way that seems so rare nowadays. Another huge draw of the best arcade-style games- and one you seem to be aware of, though it!s worth clarifying- is gameplay that’s simple to pick up but offers a wealth of emergent complexity. You see this a lot in modern shoot-em-ups as well, especially in the complex scoring systems those games have. It’s sort of funny then, that the original Donkey Kong is one of the few games of its era to have a scoring system that still holds up today.
Considering not even the original Arcade Donkey Kong didn't have the DK or Mario brand on conception, Crash Course dealing with a similar change in branding is extremely fitting.
I have a vendetta against this game. I know the entire thing on the back of my hand, I can speed run it, but the desent at the very end of the A side, its always getting to that last bar, I tip and fall. Every time. However Once, I did miraculously make it, randomly by flipping around and surviving, and I completed the course for the first time. Then... it turned around... I scream in the most primal way, it was impossible, that this near impossible to beat level had more afterwards. But then Im excited for the trek ahead. I quickly die. but excited to try again. then I realize you start from the A side. This was years ago and I have not touched it since. But... this video may be what pushes me over the edge....
That last decent is brutal. It’s genuinely easier to just take the shortcut but slowly rolling off the right side right after the checkpoint flag. It’s scary but really consistent once you get it. It also prepares you for levels 2, 3, and 4 (yes, there are four stages, not just one or two 😉)
Wii Sports shows how the Wii Mote can completely alter games for the better with its motion controls. Nintendo Land shows how the game pad can be used but it doesn’t help show why the game pad needed to be a thing. Also, boxing, bowling and golf are easier to understand for an older person than a mini game about a NES game for the Disk Drive
@@SquallyCoin5664 Yeah, I think it’s important to make that distinction. Wii Sports is better for the average consumer because it both explains why you would buy a Wii and uses simple controls and sports that people could understand. Nintendo Land, on the other hand, is more fun in my opinion because it uses more fleshed-out games and is a bit more out there with the usage of the Wii U. Whichever one you prefer is simply a matter of who you are, or what you prefer.
Nintendo Land is super underrated it’s one of the only great Wii U games that isn’t on Switch and it’s very interesting in my opinion that they made this game which is basically “what if there was a Nintendo theme park” and now there is an actual Nintendo theme park with Super Nintendo World
Time Crisis shout-out! WOHOOOO! 😄 I actually never knew there was a 2nd course; this minigame was too difficult for me to go any further than just beating the original course 😅
Dear god for me THIS GAME WAS A NIGHTMARE this was the most difficult thing I did in Nintendo land don't get me wrong the music and levels were nice but god why was this so DIFFICULT?
Nintendo should really rerelease Nintendo Land on the Switch! I still have my Wii U but I barely have any data space left because of stuff like Disney Infinity 3.0 and LEGO Dimensions with how during their lifespan they were constantly getting updates when new figures that weren’t in the base games lineup started hitting store shelves. I can barely even figure out how to properly figure out how to transfer data my other Wii U games to multiple hard drives with the thing. Here’s hoping Nintendo makes a Switch subscription service for first party Wii U titles that haven’t already been remastered yet
This video was awesome. But I noticed you released a video on the Donkey Kong boss fight in Punch-Out for the Wii. Any chance of one for the exclusive Doc Louis's Punch-Out?
I don’t like this video The thumbnail showed the Kongo Bongo Chad “Bluster Kong”, while the Mii used in the video is Cranky, this video thumbnail falls under misleading information
Ah yes, the official licensed Nintendo rage game. I nearly threw my controller so many times when playing this game.
Freaking amazing. I never stopped to think about how my addiction to DK’s Crash Course was equal to that of an arcade game. Probably explains why I was determined to beat this one, but gave up on Yoshi’s Fruit Cart and Octopus Dance.
Nintendo should put this game into actual arcades. That game alone would gobble up money like it’s nothing.

@@unnamedtoaster see I recently got very close to finishing stage 2 but didn't, so. Uh... Guess I'm trying again lol
Man, Nintendo Land was so much fun! To this day, I don't get why people consider Wii Sports better than Nintendo Land.
Yes! I’ve played Mario Chase much longer than Wii Tennis.

wow this is really in-depth.
This was always my favorite of the 12 minigames. I never beat it, but it was always a fun time waster.

I wasn't expecting Nintendo Land talk but I am very happy rn

I haven't got pass the part where you try to launch yourself diagonally.

I’ve had it since launch and I still don’t understand how you do that

Shoutouts to donkey kong 94’s soundtrack. One of the best soundtracks on the gameboy
I'd forgotten about this, but what a cute little game with a good reason to have motion controls!
Let's go! i was wsiting for this when i heard donkey kong marathon
This was my favorite game of the Wii u
I'd like to see these types of videos on the other Nintendo Land attractions
Just obtained the Nintendo Coin once again in DK64. I can’t believe they expected kids to pass it.
It made us stronger.
DK Crash Course was made by Omminus from Flingsmash post-mortem so he can continue to destroy my sanity from beyond the grave just to mock me!
Looks like a hidden gem I've been missing out on!
This is probably the attraction I played the most, ngl. I think I managed to beat the blue stage
It was also a REALLY easy way to get coins if you learned to reach the end of the red stage
I have NEVER seen the B side before! I had no clue!
Awesome!
this was the most painful gaming experience i've ever had
This was so fun but I can’t lie, this caused a younger me so many headaches lmao. Never finished the second part
happy Donkey Kong December everyone c:
I didn't even know there was a second board
Dks crash course I had the hardest time with, but I did enjoy it.
I couldn't beat the B side though
i didn't know ther was a 2nd bord or more harder bords
=) I never accomplished anything in this gamemode except some brief lessons in what a hard game looks like.
Pie factory? How come this wasnt in the nes version?
I forgot this Wii u game was made.
Can you make a video about Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope?
THERE WAS A B SIDE?!
god i got SO ANGRY at this mini game qwq
T,,,,there's a B SIDE????????
Oh I really haven't beaten it have I
My copy of Nintendo land keeps crashing after I load a minigame
NINTENDO LAND WAS MY FIRST PIKMIN GAME. THIS IS AN HONEST STATEMENTM
I only managed to beat the first board by abusing player 2's slow-mo ability
