Just looked up your video because I was looking into the M6 pro after netgear offered to sell me an unlocked one for $999. The weird requirement to remove the battery and plug into wall power might be related to this entry I found in the user manual: "FCC regulations restrict the operation of this device in the 5.925-7.125 GHz band to indoor use only. 6 GHz is available only when the device is powered by AC adapter connected to AC mains. The device cannot be used outdoors on 6 GHz, as required by FCC/IC rules." Apparently, by law, they can't let you just go anywhere pumping out 6GHz signals.
Indeed - 6 GHz has restrictions that make it tricky to legally use outdoors. Pretending that power outlets only exist indoors may be a way for the M6 to take the easy route to comply with the rules.

This device is made specifically for AT&T's network.. if you got one, and got it unlocked you'd have to compare the frequency bands to ensure compatibility.
Good info, thanks a lot. Have you noticed any improvements in LTE cell fringe areas? Speed, but more particularly sensitivity on the low-band fringes? The MR1100 we have is “just ok” sensitive on B12 and B14 and even less on B5. iPhone 13 gets several dB more signal, all things being equal. Worse, it suffers from de-sensitation: literally where we are on the Blue Ridge Parkway right now, with directional antennas I can get -86dBm RSRP and -10dB RSRQ, normally plenty for a magnificent connection, but 500kbps is all there is to be had, and it’s not the throttling.
We've only had the device a couple days - it will take a while for us to complete comprehensive testing. But we did some very comprehensive testing last summer along the BRP ourselves with a lot of different LTE and 5G gear - our members have access to the entire case study.
If I have the old grandfather tablet plan from ATT and it shows up as “Unlimited MB for 30 days - LTE” in my billing receipt email, does this mean it doesn’t work with 5g, making getting a 5g modem useless if I want to pop that tablet sim into a modem? And is it even possible to get 5g on that unlimited data sim ? Or not something ATT allows ?

Try to use a higher power rated power supply. Perhaps an iPad charger or something even a little larger than that. That was happening to me as well and replacing/upping the power supply helped tremendously.
I want to play call of duty warzone as I travel on the road. I want to be wired with an ethernet cable. Would the M6 be better or should I find something at Verizon?
@@netmann1492 Thanks. I was offered this router through FirstNet and was going to see if I could use it as part of my network for the house and drop cable.
I imagine the requirement to remove the battery is due to increase heat when using the 2.5 Ghz ports. It would result in the battery becoming so hot that it could swell or explode.
We can only speculate that AT&T can not keep enough devices in stock to meet demand, it could be related to supply chain issues as well as that seems to be affecting everything these days. So, I have the model that you referred to in the graphic at the beginning, the Nighthawk MR1100 with AT&T. I have a "grandfathered" AT&T plan that I purchased in May 2018. I bought this model after watching your April 2018 video that announced that hotspots purchased before that date in early May 2018 would get the grandfathered AT&T plan. This hotspot and plan have served me SOOOO well over the past 4+ years giving me (for all intents and purchases) true unlimited, unthrottled cellular Internet. I called AT&T regarding this upgrade and they would NOT let me keep my grandfathered data plan. Are you saying that based upon your information I CAN get one of these new Nighthawks and keep my grandfathered plan but just ask AT&T to "not provision" the device for 5g? This would give me better LTE than my Nighthawk MR1100 (and better WiFi)? Then would I just use it as a 4G/LTE device with the hope that someday I could have them "turn-on" 5G if they allow me to keep my other plan? Thanks for all the great information. I appreciate it and send lots of fellow RV'ers your way when they have mobile Internet questions.

I have an M6 pro on the first net unlimited plan worked for months then suddenly started locking up several times a day. When it works it’s amazing and I don’t have any other options. Has anyone had this problem or know of a setting or anything I can change to make it consistently work?
20 connections is a lot to regularly run on a mobile hotspot device, for that sort of usage generally more robust routers are preferable. But would follow up with Netgear and/or your vendor support.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter I run them through a net gear router off the Ethernet port not the actual M6 with The wifi off. What more robust hot spots would be out there?

If I get the sim from my t-mobile phone, which has unlimited data, and connect to this router, will I still have unlimited data or it will be capped as hotspot data ?
These devices some locked to AT&T - so you'd need to have it unlocked first. Also most Calyx plans are locked to their device. And this device is AT&T optimized, and does not support all of T-Mobile's bands - so it would not be ideal.
Great review! I've been using Iphone 13 Pro as my hotspot and I find it very slow. I have ATT's Elite plan, and in an area where I'm getting fast connection just from my phone. If I get Nighthalk M6 Pro, will it help me out?

We've never really fielded any overheating issues with the MR1100, nor the M6. However, if you're in a weak signal area - modems do have to work extra hard to keep a connection. If that's the case, it would benefit from signal enhancing methods to get a better signal to work with. If that's not the case, then you likely have an issue with your device.

These devices can connect more than 30 devices at once, but it would also depend on the data plan that you use with it, signal strength and how large your house is. You'd likely need a truly unlimited plan, or one with a very large chunk of data, in order to keep up with all of that demand. My job requires me to work in a (specifically made) storage container. I am not able to midiify the exterior with liitlle give in the interior.
Al, unfortunately, there is almost no cookie cutter solution, so I am attaching a link to page to our cellular antenna resources--including a ink to our guide about how to select antennas, and our reviews of cellular antennas. These should help you find your solution.

I'm having issues connecting my AC1900 dual Band WiFi mesh extender. Worked through Nighthawk app and tried with just WPS. Everytime it connects, it states that there is no internet. Any ideas?
Would recommend contacting your vendor for support.
Does the MR6500 work flawless in germanys 5g frequence? Also support vodafone nano sim cards?
This device is made specifically for AT&T's network.. if you got one, and got it unlocked you'd have to compare the frequency bands to ensure compatibility.
For first responders you can connect them through first-net, I’m paying $52 a month (12 for equipment a
And 40 for data) in a very rural art of town
Not a single thing

Speedtests?
Is there any reason to keep my mr 1100 nighthawk. Or is it getting to old?
The answer depends on the type of plan that you have and your own usage.
the pro version exists in my country but not the normal one. the Pro costs in my country much more than : 1'000 USD... how can you get such prices ???
If I have the old grandfather tablet plan from ATT and it shows up as “Unlimited MB for 30 days - LTE” in my billing receipt email, does this mean it doesn’t work with 5g, making getting a 5g modem useless if I want to pop that tablet sim into a modem? And is it even possible to get 5g on that unlimited data sim ? Or not something ATT allows ?
AT&T has not yet enabled 5G on most legacy plans. But they do have a 5G Tablet plan available now for $20/mo. It's listed as a top pick: www.rvmobileinternet.com/planpicks
Amazing review!
Hey, I have a m6 pro 4g wireless hotspot, I don't know how to activate it when I went to activate the SIM was already activated so what I'm wondering is. Do I need to do something to access my internet service from the wireless hotspot? I'm new to at&t service 😅
Would recommend contacting AT&T for support.
You need a new SIM card
I have an old MR1100 nighthawk. Reboots contantly. Ready to upgrade. Is there reboot problem with new ones like the old ones? Thanks.
We are not aware of any reboot issues on any of the Nighthawk models.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter thank you
Try to use a higher power rated power supply.
Depends on if AT&T or Verizon is working best at your current location.
im a trucker trying to find something similar any luck?

Does m6 pro has cameras and router connectors? I like it
No, it does not have a camera. It is a mobile hotspot device.
Would you be able to disable the wifi and attach the pro to a switch and run APs through a home?
The device data sheet says you can do that...
Can you guys investigate why this is no longer on available on atts website or from netgear?
We can only speculate that AT&T can not keep enough devices in stock to meet demand, it could be related to supply chain issues as well as that seems to be affecting everything these days. We don't know when this will change but it is something we are actively monitoring. www.rvmobileinternet.com/gear/nighthawk-m6/
You would need to acquire the device independently of your legacy plan in order to keep your plan intact.
Same here I still have my unlimited plus family also best plan I still have my night hawk lte might be time for me to upgrade to this pro model
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter So I would buy the device separately, manually move over the SIM card, and that would keep me on 4G/LTE only (no 5G provisioning)?
Yes
Yeah I have the same plan I'm holding onto it for dear life 😂😂🤣🤣
Just bought m6 pro. Excited!
where did u get it from? and for $309 ?
The M6 Pro is $459, and only available from AT&T.

I have the AT&T Unlimited Tablet Plan on a 4G device. The plan description says it has 5G Data Access and Standard Definition (480p) video steaming. If I put my SIM in this 5g device, will it work in 5G network? Will video streaming still be 480p or would it improve? Thanks in advance.
The tablet plan will only work in tablets, you need a hotspot data plan for the M6.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter But my SIM also works in Netgear LB2120. So it is an unadvertised hotspot data plan also...!
It is not authorized for that use.
I have the same plan and it works with the M5 nighthawk. It will work as a hotspot and get 1080p speeds in the cities.
@@andrewfreeman88 you mean 1080p video streaming... But, what is your average 5G download speed in Mbps?
Do you know what routers work with the M6?

I have an M6 pro on the first net unlimited plan worked for months then suddenly started locking up several times a day. The device is rated to be connected to 32 devices I’m at about 20 and it worked fine for months. I am now on my third M6 and they are telling me it’s locking up because I’ve got too many things connected to it but nothing has changed.
Is this good for streaming things in general not just shows like on netflix but also games cloud games streaming on the go?

@@MobileInternetResourceCenter thank you!
Why has the prices doubled?
Prices are the same for these models since they launched.
Can I use a Verzion SIM on this?
If you can get it unlocked, yes - but it is not optimized for Verizon's network, so would not be ideal.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter thanks much for your reply. Verizon says the unlocked MR6500 is not compatible.

It will work wherever the frequency bands of the carriers you are traveling to are covered.

I work from home and I need to be hard wired not wifi how do I use the ethernet port to connect my PC. Not sure if I make sense
You would use the Ethernet port just like any other router - using an Ethernet cable.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter can you connect it to wan port of another router?
What if you take your Calyx Institute sim and place it in one of those.
The M6 Pro has a slightly more advanced modem (X65) than the iPhone 13 (X60). However you would need an appropriate data plan for a hotspot device, and there just aren't great options out there.

Yes. I used to use my iPhone, then M1 Nighthawk. Got the M6 and speed is better and 1 bar on my phone while the hotspot gets 3 bars.

I have the grandfathered Mobley Plan with the 4G nighthawk, I understand if I put my Sim in this 5g device it will work but does the old connected car plan get to use 5g?

Do the m6 and the M6 pro have a problem with overheating with extended use?
I have the original MR1100 and the device/battery overheats after 1-2 hrs of use.
Those little devices pushing higher data content doesn’t sound possible if in the end the thing overheats trying to process all that data.
Thank you
Has anyone had problems connecting to a external router with this device
We've not fielded any reports, and have used our regularly with our Peplink Routers via Ethernet and USB.

Does anyone know if this is powerful enough to supply my whole house. 3 laptops, 3 x-box consoles, ring door bell and camera system, dish network digital library, 6 cell phones when Wi-Fi is on, 2 smart window air conditioners, and a couple more. My u-verse is crap and I want to try something else.
These devices can connect more than 30 devices at once, but it would also depend on the data plan that you use with it, signal strength and how large your house is. You'd likely need a truly unlimited plan, or one with a very large chunk of data, in order to keep up with all of that demand.
