Hello Steve and Alex,
Really enjoyed watching this build and this video in particular. One thing it has highlighted probably without you even realising. Is how hard Alex works. I have been in construction for 56yrs admittedly as a Plumber and we both know my job is easier than yours 😂.
He never stops its hard enough labouring having to keep on top of the mix, keeping you set up with materials, tidying up and general organisation but every opportunity he is on the trowel laying bricks and blocks. He is getting fast as well. You must be a very proud dad. Watching you always reminds me of when I worked with my dad.
Great job fellers.
Thanks very much .
I’m so proud of Alex especially how he has stepped up to look after me since my health hit rock bottom .
He just gets on with it never complaining. 🥹🥹😍👍🏽🧱
Couldn't agree more. Al is a chip off his dad's block. Great skill, work ethic and a damn nice young man too. He may not be destined to be rich, but he will always be in work. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I would happily trust him to work on my home any day of the week in the knowledge that a good sound job will be done and I don't say that lightly as I don't trust many people these days. I've been sh..t on too many times.
Cheers buddy 🥹🙏🏽🧱👍🏽
Best laid plans...... Love the comments regarding the 'Brick Tie-wires'. Any watchers who have not yet grasped the sarcasm need to get an injection of 'Britishness' - as only us Brits can be self-deprecating and sarcastic simultaneously! Thought you were going to bring the planes in to land with that floodlight - jeez that's some product! Steve, totally get your frustration - you want to get on with doing as good a job as you and Al normally do, and then all your good intentions are impacted by situations beyond your control - and that's the most frustrating part of it all - you can't control it. Only thing I could suggest is just go with the flow, you can only do what you can control. Spring and Summer is around the corner, things will get better! Thank you for the editing and the uploads Steve - keep safe!
Cheers Dave all very true . Just go with the flow is all we can do 🧱👍🏽
Watching you Steve made me wince that hip is not good news.
Still you got a lot done and it seems that you had some grief about the tiywires A veritable forest!
I'm glad that Alex had some time with his mates the way that he works he deserves it.
Stay safe best regards as ever Ken.
Cheers Ken we always joke about the ties . We’ve had a many digs over the years 😆🧱
As always good attention to detail, finishing of the brickwork is never disaPOINTING.👍😏
😏🤣🤣🧱👍🏽
Hi Steve & Alex very exact bick & bulk work guys keeping up the very exact work like away the time guys. 🤗👷♂️💪👌👍
Thanks very much 🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
Thank you S&A. The finish brickwork is looking great and your explanation to what’s left to go where is concise, even for a layman like myself. 🙏🏻
Glad to hear it and thanks 🙏🏽 🧱👍🏽
The extension is certainly taking shape.
😁🧱👍🏽
Well done yet again guys making the most of the weather👍
Absolutely 🧱👍🏽😎
Brilliant brickying Steve! Keep up the detailed work fellas.

You guys are amazing. You ran into Christmas, bad weather & dodgy hip but you still keep pushing.
Time to call it a day on 2023, enjoy your Christmas and come back refreshed in New Year......hopefully you weren't working boxing day! 👍

😁🧱👍🏽
Great work fellas!!
Fancy a job down south!!!!?
Thanks very much . Our work radius is 10 miles unfortunately 😆
🧱👍🏽
Me too! There's no place like home!@@SteveAndAlexBuild
Keep going guys.
This Autumn has been awful weatherwise so i can see why you're having to dodge round between jobs and work weekends to beat the forecast.
I don't think I'd have the same forttitude as you. Steve.
No doubt we'll see but hopefully you got this job donebready for a well deserved xmas break.
No it never happened unfortunately , stay tuned to find out why 🙁🧱👍🏽
@SteveAndAlexBuild
If that's a hint that you got your hip done at short notice, then I'm happy for you.
Keeping tuned for updates!
Sounds like you were struggling at the end of this one Steve. The quality work continued regardless though. Top job again gents.
Cheers Tom sick of struggling now 😒🧱👍🏽
Nice work guys. You say pike and I say peak 😊
😉🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
or maybe pointy bit?🤣👍
👌🏼😆🧱👍🏽
all us outside workers can do is work with the weather.mother nature will have the last say.if it means working weekends so be it if your self employed.👍
Very true mate 😒🧱👍🏽
haven't laid a brick in anger in years but seeing you lean your level against green blockwork gives me anxiety lol. got shouted at a lot for that in my youth. grat vid as always x
It’s ok on solid ground . It’s a no no on scaffold where the boards can flex and push the level into your green work. 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
Don't think you used enough tie wires lads ;-)
... light blue touch paper and stand well back.
🤨😤😠😡🤬🤯. 🤣🤣🧱👍🏽
I been in the game 35 years who would of thought we be totally filling / bridging the cavity gone on the days where we used to use cellotex / kingsman at extortionately over priced but we still left 50 mm after insulation /cavity
I’ve used full fill since I was an apprentice, never had a problem.
Loads of new builds are blown in full fill now too 🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild
Yes, its very common now.
The building regulations will be changing again next year - so more changes on the way I suppose....
I`m not sure when we will reach peak - cavity - size. But it must be close now.!!!
Cavities much bigger than 200mm cannot be viable financially to construct especially at scale....?
Utter madness all this stuff.....😱😡😡🤬🤬😁👍👍
Yup 🙄🧱👍🏽
Steve ,as a non-builder , I was wondering why you cant scale down the mix to avoid wasting it ?
We can , it’s hard to judge a lot of the time 😬👍🏽🧱
Have you ever done any live shows guy's? 👍
A live show ?
Question for u lads? When putting insulation in cavity, what happens if outside bricks get saturate with rain, does it affect the insulation in cavity, how does it work
Water won’t pass through horizontally only vertically 🧱👍🏽
Thats hard work on your own Steve even if you didnt have a dodgy hip. Curious....at the end of the day how do you prepare the mixer for the next day 🤔
Always gets cleaned 🧼 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild Lol. Think what i meant was how do you clean it out for the next session. 🤔😁
Good brush them swill if it convenient if not leave water in till next day .
When it’s getting muck building up then it’s a bucket of stone for 30 mins which will polish it up nice 👌🏼 💫🧱👍🏽
What the type/ name of that insulation it’s a darn site quicker to put in than that bloody cellotex/ Kingspan and cheaper too as the solid pair is ridiculous price
Couldn’t agree More pal, and you don’t need to build the inside skin first 👌🏼
It’s Knauf .32 150 mm full fil cavity batts 🧱👍🏽
Quick one, is it ok to leave the cavities with water in the bottom or is it just the camera making them look flooded?
That water will disperse within a day or 2 👍🏽🧱
Hi guys, not work related, i'm a retired joiner who really enjoys watching construction videos, I'm a big fan of Universal, Disney and Virgin Atlantic and i've noticed you have a pic of either a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 or a pic of the Aventura Hotel on your home screen. Do you often go to Orlando?
We absolutely love Orlando. Been 10 times since 2010 . Desperate to get back as soon as I recover from hip surgery 🥺😎🎢👍🏽🧱
hope to see you there one day, we have been going there every Aug since 2005 except for the two pandemic years and will continue as long as we can. We usually stay at Universal's Cabana Bay or Sapphire Falls or Disney's Port Orleans French quarter @@SteveAndAlexBuild
@Pete_the_aviation_guy We love Cabana but love staying over the road at Aventura . We like how small it is . We go to sapphire for the water taxis 😍.
Caribbean Beach is our favourite Disney resort but we won’t do Disney again , they are robbing swines who don’t give a toss about about their customers any more , it’s all about the dollars 😒🧱👍🏽
Also it looks like your using concrete blocks ,there cold heavy thing as well ,guess it was specified
Nope 3.6 n light weight fiboilte blocks , very thermally efficient 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
Apologies they looked like concrete on screen when they were wet , thought it be strange to use concrete blocks inside these days
Lovely job there fellas. I'm sure the loss of internal space, due to 6" cavity will be compensated for by the thermal performance of the structure saving them around 6% off their heating costs. Until utilities add another whopping 20%+ to their heating bills anyway. Remember all the money you saved by "upgrading" to energy efficient LED lighting? no me neither.
😆🧱👍🏽
@blzbub
So very true....
Mind the air-sourced heat pumps.......there will be one along any minute...
Only £14k a pop.
that is exactly what I'd like to do with my conservatory. I wonder how much it cost??
I’m guessing just short of 20 k if done properly 😮💨🧱👍🏽
Hi lads what s the insulation called your putting in those cavities looks like loft roll from BQ but I guess it’s not
It’s knauf cavity batts . It’s the same material as the B & Q stuff 🧱👍🏽
insane amount of insulation
🧱👍🏽
Very difficult to motivate yourself when you’re working alone I used to find
Very true 😬🧱👍🏽
Are the ties stainless steel?
Yes 🧱👍🏽
C O V E R U P I T' S G O I N G T O B E F R O S T Y
🥶🥶🥶🧱👍🏽
Hi where did buy your plastic lay boards from please thanks
If you mean the spot boards they are from Rhino tools 🧱👍🏽
If damp is level gauge up
Thanks 🧱👍🏽
Why have they gone to 6 inch cavity for a conservatory is this the same requirement for all extension work instead of the 4inch cavity?
It’s not a conservatory 🧱👍🏽
I asumed as your title calls it a conservatory that is why i asked that question
“Conservatory to extension “ 👍🏽
150 is the norm now with dri-therm insulation
@tonyosborne56 🧱👍🏽
Lot to organise and think about Steve .We used to organise the entire build project manage all trades and customer etc now that was even more stress used to consume me night and day id be thinking about it all. I get a plan and it would always change .i keep saying its a physical job but mentally its very hard aswell when your in charge .
We never cut any corners neither do you stress yes but you always do a great job which is the most important thing of all .Great video guys as always 👍🧱🧱🧱
Very stressful but extremely rewarding 🤨🙌🏽🧱👍🏽
@SteveAndAlexBuild
It is your right never be rich out of it though mate 🤣🤣👍
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping nope 😆🧱👍🏽
As always good attention to detail, finishing of the brickwork is never disaPOINTING.👍😏
😏👍🏽🧱
You need your lad to take over , and to get yourself fit again. 😮
I’d love to just stay off and rest but I don’t have the luxury of a massive bank account or Rich relative to help out 😒🧱👍🏽
