Sir, one doubt. Assume a condition that, the storage of one kilogram hydrogen in room temperature. As you know, it have 6.023x10^26 protons. So there is a chance of nuclear fusion and energy release, because the probability of quantum tunneling is not zero, right ?
The probability of Nuclear fusion happening at atmospheric pressure and temperature is very, very, very, very low. We may have to wait millions of years for just one fusion to happen.
Moreover, at room temperature, hydrogen is in a gaseous state. They have electrons. The plasma state is required for fusion to take place.
But if we increase pressure and temperature very much, the probability also increases
In the sun, when 10^56 protons are present. still, 10^36 fusions only take place per second Even with 15,00,00,000 degrees
Please note the values are in power.
So at room temperature and pressure and 6.023x10^26 protons, no reaction will take place for Ages.
