Man, I'd love to see a spiritual successor to Vikings made today where they actually include all these creatures of norse mythology, we definitely got the short end of the stick with that theme, although I do still enjoy the sets we got despite being pretty repetetive with the dragons.
When I look at that Castles prototype, all I can think of is that they use the same troll model as the Clutch Powers movie. Aside from that, the Vikings prototypes are definitely the most interesting ones (though I understand they were too ambitious).
That viking ogre has some striking similarities to the mutated kikanalo from the comics lol. I think that lower jaw is an upside down wolf head. Additionally, the large sword on the gate was used in sir jaycos set
3:38 to this day I am trying to find an extra piece of the head from the green viking here. It has a very unique face print that.. I believe has only been used in this set. And I can't find it anywhere.. uurgh.. because most people selling this set have a different head than the one that is advertised on the box
Vikings is my no. 1 favorite LEGO theme and in my opinion LEGO's creature design peaked with it. The use of Bionicle and Technic parts lent the creatures a much more organic look than fully System-built creatures, at least with the pieces available to designers at the time. I can't express how badly I wish I could get my hands on better reference images to recreate the kraken, ogre/troll, and bull seen in these prototypes.
@@DuckBricks I know.thanks, 😉 I expected more 😂. They wasnt a lot intersting things btw, I personnaly hopped new factions etc. Did you what a guy posted on lego idea, I coulnd find it anymore but it was many sets with 2 custom faction, one griffin with white purple and blue and the other with a pegasus if I rember right in yellow with black and dark red. Beautiful.. would be ao great if lego would do all these sets.. or the forestmen lego idea with lionknight new shields and oriflame, beautiful also.. Lego needa to bring back classic castle theme.
Unfortunately, I very recent suffered a pretty catastrophic data loss, which is why it’s taken that one so long to get out. I will refilm and re-edit that one eventually for sure though! Thanks for your patience, I know a lot of people are looking forward to that one

Yup, that’s actually where Clutch Powers got it from - it was the standard bigfig troll used in the castle line at the time

I can see it - especially with the Nuva shoulder as well!

I think the trolls from Lego castle were gonna be in Vikings
I really wish they kept the beards, it’s so cool of a piece and I hope someone try’s to make a resin mold or something of those beards
I would have liked how the prototype of the Midgard serpent looked
Yeah, definitely didn’t seem feasible as a set, but as a model it looks really cool
These give ideas.
4:30 That looks like Wojira
I can see it!
Disapointed, just hopping to see normal castle theme. I miss the black falcon-lion knights-black k ights era..
We actually covered the classic castle prototypes in an older video here: ruclips.net/video/GEbv0gY31lQ/видео.html hope you enjoy!
