Counter Strike 2 is just around the corner, and CSGO Surf, Zombie Escape, and other community game modes are following suit. Things are looking amazing! But there are some issues to overcome, including plugin support and custom models, that will make the experience complete

CS2 will certainly be a setback for community servers, just like CSGO was to 1.6 and source, but i have immense faith in the community to just rebuild everything bigger and better. Yes CSGO will be better on day 4500 than CS2 will be on day 1, but that just sounds more like a challenge than a problem to me.

Community already getting together, modding and making things for fun on an unreleased game. Honestly makes me proud
I guess we have Doom and GMod to thank for that, they were the pioneers of the Mod Community.

Great video! I should point out that some of the overly bright stuff is not caused by source2 but rather the porters (us) setting bloom too high in some of the maps, those will be fixed later. In fact, all the ports will be fixed up after CS2 is released and valve opens up map distribution in the workshop or otherwise.

CS2 will use node programming like in Unreal engine based on typescript and javascript according to leaks, it's just the tools that still only accessible if you are a valve employee. But if it's not true then lua will be a thing but the game scripting certainly will be opened back upon the release or shortly afterwards
It's not just leaks, the system (called pulse) is already in CS2 right now, including also the typescript layer for it, though pulse is still very limited right now with what it can do. Valve has been slowly adding to it over the past several updates.

Thanks for this. I play a lot of surf and ZE and was worried CS2 would just delete these modes because it would make the files unplayable or something. Glad to see the community working hard and thinking ahead before it’s even out to keep the communities alive

I'm confused, sourcemod plugins are now supported on the new engine, or old plugins should be rewritten?
The latest is that Pulse is the new scripting language, but we simply don't know.
CS2 is supposed to be using Vscript instead of Lua

Vscript is just a VM for scripting languages, not a language itself. Its has support for LUA, Python, Squirrel, and Gamemonkey. Lua is just what Valve had implemented for Source 2 vscript in general instead of Squirrel like in Source 1.

@@TrustedScience lua will likely be removed from CS2 in favor of pulse (node-based system with a typescript layer), which already exists in CS2 but in a very limited form currently.

CS2 will most definitely be using VScript. It's what the weapons are scripted in. HUD elements should be possible with that too.

Which servers do dedicated surfers play on?
There are tons of community servers, but im looking for something more.. official ?
KSF on Counter-Strike: Source, SurfHeaven (EU), GFL (NA), and are the most official ones. But anything around 66t is fine to play on if needed.

how are you playing community servers on cs2 engine?
the discord in the description holds playtests, they have to launch a server and plugins for the specific patch. They do a very quiet announcement and then post the IP and downloads.

I wish CS2 maps for game modes like Zombie Map, Zombie Escape, Surf, Deathrun, etc., weren't just "ports"... I wish they were maps made from scratch or redesigned from top to bottom so you have all the potential of the Source 2 engine. Not just a copy and paste of X map from Source to Source 2.

wow did valuve just kill all community servers? I'm honestly amazed by their stupidity.
Why wouldn't they let the players choose what game they want to play, so many people cant even play cs2 due to its way worse performance.
