    I’ve owned this wallet for 6 years and have used it for 5 years collectively. The wallet has held up incredibly, all stitching is still in tact and no tears in the leather. It has started to show its age but over all still looks great. The leather pull tab is still perfectly fine, but over the 6 years of use it has started to curl as it is in the fold line of the wallet, which begins to to round out as you fill the wallet with more cards.
    The best part is that the wallet stays so thin and light when full, which makes it more comfortable to carry than most wallets I have used.
    I am using the original Notesleeve which doesn’t have the RFID protection and I believe is a slightly different design to the new version.
    I hope my years of experience with the wallet provides a good insight to perspective buyers.

      Same and it's the cheapest of 6 wallets I own. I went in very skeptical but it's proven itself. It's a good bare bones basic wallet. Nothing fancy but the quality and design for the money is r really quite good.

    I have had my bellroy wallet with pulltab for exactly 1900 days and the pulltab still works perfectly; although the tab itself has slightly curled up. The leather is finally starting to look a bit tired around the edges with cracks etc, but overall I am very happy with it -- it's served me well

    4 years late but I agree on the folded edges. When it wears through, there's nowhere to go but the waste bin. Normal edges are best, and easier to repair. A very honest, thorough and insightful breakdown. A knowledgeable public shops smarter when they realize how quality presents itself in the leather world.

      I'm very hard on everything. Nothing lasts long around me. I have this exact model wallet in the grey. These are surprisingly durable. It's not uncommon to see guys that have used these daily for years and year, 5, 6, 7, years without any issues what so ever. This is the cheapest wallet I own and I was very skeptical when I got it, but over years I've grown to love it. Bellroy is also using ecco leather now, which I love. They're legit. For the money these are hard to beat. Idk what he's talking about when he says it costs alot. $89 is not much for a half decent wallet. Most nicer wallets made from nicer materials like say box calf, much less hand died box calf, cost twice that, easily.

    Bellroy is my go-to brand for wallets. You are right about their leather, it’s kinda thin and not the most durable thing. However, mine lasted for years with just little scuffs here and there. I had to retire my zip wallet because the fabric next to the zipper tore a hole.
    I think a Bellroy would easily last 5 years, at which point people usually get bored and buy another.

The pull tab is still functioning as it should. It's black with blue (Right Hand Side) Interior. Top notch workmanship. I'm in my late 60's And l really look after my kit. I'm hoping that this beautiful wallet will still be around for years to come. And ya know what.....I really do believe that it it will be. With regular maintenance of course. Ive had my bellroy wallet for 5 years now in the blue color. Absolute nothing wrong with it just some discoloration where the cards bend the outside leather. Ive gotten it soaked a couple of times also and it still looks pretty darn good. Usually my wallets look haggard after about 3 years but the quality on these things are pretty good for the price

  • @RyTrapp0
    @RyTrapp0 2 года назад +2

    I've had a Bellroy wallet for 10 years now, I believe an earlier version of the 'Hide & Seek', and I still love this thing after all this time! It's held up GREAT for being such a thin leather(just checked the rolled edges - I'm shocked that it isn't even beginning to look worn through, no kidding), the shear amount of slots and pockets and hidden storage areas is awesome and convenient, I honestly don't have anything negative to say about it at all. $90 is a lot for a not-handmade wallet - but I've gotten 10 years out of it and it still isn't worn out! Mind you, I should add I'm 5'5 135lbs, so I may not have enough ass to REALLY wear them out LOL, just a note. That said, I've always worked active jobs like construction(and obviously I'm the dude squeezing in all the tight spaces) or sitting on my ass putting highway miles in, so it's gotten its share of "real world use".
    I've kinda been wanting to buy a new wallet - but the problem is that this thing is STILL going strong, not close to worn out, and I don't want a different wallet lol. If this thing would just wear out already so I could buy a new one... [first_world_probs]
    Edit: actually, I just found the TINIEST crack where the leather has split, right in the top edge crease of the fold. 10 years(give or take) and that's all there is, and that's in the worst place where you would likely expect material failure; can't complain about that at all.

  • @dmack1827
    @dmack1827 4 года назад

    I have had that wallet for just over three years. The pull has not worn out, nor have the corners on the outer skin. The stitching is all as new. The rolled edge shows no wear either. The design philosophy was a thinner, smaller wallet and it is. I also think it is a nice dress/business environment wallet. It is a really great wallet. I have had the Bellroy passport wallet for 10 years, use it nearly daily in my travels and it is outstanding as well. High price but high quality. Even though I am a leather crafter as a hobby, I will always have a Bellroy wallet.

    Bellroy's schtick is thin wallets. I have the Travel wallet which neatly holds a Passport; Boarding pass; a few cards; a bank notes section that takes large bank notes as used in some countries, and a tine Japanese ballpoint pen for filling out Immigration cards (they give you a spare refill too). This wallet comfortably fits into a front pocket on trousers/jeans,so that you can sleep on a plane knowing exactly where your documents are! The package that it comes in is a delight, as you discovered. This company is obviously passionate about what they do. I love it!
    It was no surprise that when you pulled it apart, it was hard to do and showed that it was well constructed. My next normal wallet will be a Bellroy.

      Check TJ Maxx/Marshals. They often have Timberland and really nice wallets for less than $50. This wallet is almost $100 and it's made in India. I got a really nice Tumi wallet, and then I saw TJMaxx or Marshall's had a Tumi wallet for $25, and I looked in the Tumi website and it was somewhere around $120. It's not as good as my Italian made Tumi wallet, but still really nice for $25, or 20% of retail.

    Good to see you could be honest with your opinion, even though we could tell you were kind of hoping the wallet wasn’t as well made as it was. Lot of respect for guys like you. People just don’t appreciate hand made things as much anymore and it’s a harder industry to be financially successful in nowadays. You really have to have a passion for what you do. I’d like to get into leather working someday as a hobby but it just seems too hard to make good money doing it as a full time career. I know a couple people who do it as their main source of income, make amazing quality products, but barely make ends meet. Much respect and hope you get to continue doing your passion for a living for many years.

    When I got my Bellroy I did read some reviews calling them overpriced, thin, etc. Well it's been 5+ years now and it's perfectly fine. The only thing I'd change about it is to make it wider. it's JUST wide enough for American bills, which means they're a pain to get in the wallet. But otherwise it's a cool design.

    I've tried a cheap Amazon minimalist wallet (Huskk) with an elastic pull tab that pulled itself back in. The elastic held up for around 9 months and then the stitching on the pull itself gave out rendering it useless. You get what you pay for, for sure.

    I've had my note sleeve for over four years. The pull tab still works. I messed up the shape of the wallet because I got caught in a couple of pretty good rain showers and when it dried it shrunk it got smaller in the middle where it folds.

    I've had the hide n seek for 5 years and it's still going. It's getting a little rough at this point but still solid and its been through the washer at least 5 times. Before the bellroy my wallets were the 15 dollar specials from kohls and I would get 3 to 6 months or one wash. So i really like my bellroy

    I own a bellroy slim sleeve, so real cool to see something similar opened up. So far no issue with the neat little pull tab, and it's been about 2 years so here's hoping it holds up.

    I think it's worth pointing out that one of the selling points of Bellroy wallets is that they are thinner than almost any other wallet on the market whilst carrying the same amount of "stuff", or more.

    • @RoseAnvil
      @RoseAnvil  4 года назад

      Ya that’s very true

    • @peteryuen2640
      @peteryuen2640 4 года назад

      @@RoseAnvil it's interesting though, as you show just how many pieces make up the wallet. I think that is a perfect example of a product that is prototyped and designed at a cadstation in a studio vs a product that is created/designed more "organically" as it were. Incidentally, I have a NoteSleeve that is on Day 1222 as of today and other than a bit of fraying and an ink stain from a pen accident, is still going strong. I think it's going to be time to move on to a new wallet soon and while the Designer Edition is tempting in principle, I worry that it loses some of the thinness that makes the original edition so versatile.

    Bellroy wallets design are nice but like you said the leather is thin, my note sleeve wallet folded seam edge are worn through so that's the weak aspect of it although it's still usable.

    I have the older model, for years now. Pull tab is still good. Only thing is the main pockets have stretched a bit, and the corners have worn down quite a bit. The main opening down the bottom of the main fold is starting to tear as well. Still, one of the slimmest leather wallets I’ve had that’s got a lot of function for what I need. My wallet has an extra tiny pocket for phone SIM cards, great for travel. Does not seem to be on this newer model, unfortunately
