I want to think that Columbo proposed to his wife by rambling about a hypothetical about them being together, then right as he turns to leave to goes "Just one more thing" then gets on his knee to present her the ring.
Good theory, entirely possible.
This is now my head canon
And he also holding his cigar 👍🏻
I'm sure they served chili at the wedding reception.
She is a highly intelligent amateur reporter, so I am sure she caught on but thought it was a "soon" thing, then was surprised when it was a "now" moment.
One of my favorite episodes. I was in college when this came out and actually knew a couple of arrogant guys that were just like them. It was one of the most satisfying 'gotchas' in my opinion! The whole time, the viewer is just ITCHING for Columbo to get 'em!
they still had the audacity to brag though lol. said their dads wouldn't like to see them fail.
Yeah. And he sure got ‘em! 😁😂🤣
The funny thing is that the father was Robert Culp who was the villan in many old Columbo episodes. Talk about a chip off the old block lol
Columbo always has a murder investigation wherever he goes. This is one of my favorite episodes. Justin says "My Father Doesn't Like to See Me Fail! "
Every time I watch this episode, I'm blown away at how good it is. It really is a masterpiece! You can really tell a lot of thought went into this one. The villains, the plot, the Gotcha, the costumes, everything is on point! This episode is proof that Columbo can still be good after the 70's.
"...blown away..." 😀 rather obtuse choice of words ~
if the villains cooperate by leaving the evidence in the vehicle days after the crime, i agree but...
Same gotcha as two other episodes: police commissioner and convict's widow. Nothing like the surprise the first time!
@@evantuchinsky7021 I disagree. I think the Gotcha works better this time. Especially sense it’s the actual murder weapon. The revile just has more impact with the dramatic music kicking in. Columbo also revealed it himself instead of someone else.
@@JORDAN-ul9vs Perhaps because it was the third time for me, it wasn't as impactful. When the burglar who the commissioner tried to frame says, "I don’t even live here," I thought just what the commissioner responds: "What?" And when Columbo reveals to the widow that not only didn’t she poison him and his wife, but the kitchen is in someone else's house, the deja vu didn’t kill the mood.
This is one of my most favorite Columbo episodes.
Columbo used basically the same gotcha trap in this one as he did when he caught Police Commissioner Halperin in the episode "A Friend In Deed."
And another time when Columbo faked his wife's death, including a funeral, to catch a vengeful widow.
He also did a similar trick in the series pilot, getting the suspect’s gf to play dead.
I love how he can’t help but mention his family in some way. “that’s my niece, she’s 14 and that’s our dog” all while booking two murderers.
The best of the later episodes. These two really got their comeuppance! They thought Columbo wasn't very bright! The brown haired guy does an impression of Columbo in this - not great! The guy looks like a young Robert Downey Jr.
Yep, one of my favourite episodes
About to say that myself
That guy is L.T. Goldman from Tour of Duty.
Good later episode, those 2 students thought that the lieutenant was an idiot but all along he had them pegged as the killers!!! Good job Columbo!!! 👍
I don't think he suspected that they were the killers for a long time. But the restaurant meeting that the professor had with Mr. Rowe... Columbo couldn't figure that out, but he kept that information in the back of his head. Also he picked up on Justin talking about the professor in a dismissive way.
When the parking garage security guard told Columbo about Justin being the one who saved the footage, that's when Columbo finally knew.
He just had to get the finale pieces together - how and WHY was it televised, and how was the trigger pulled.
Yeah, one of them even mocking Columbo, asking the other one " .... do you thing Columbo's parents were related ?! "
Mrs. Columbo: "Please remind me, dear, which object of mine do you need for your sting today? The car? Alright, dear, be safe now. See you at 7."
If she helps him half as much as he suggests, she's his most valuable crimefighting tool, for sure! 🤝
Columbo was brilliant! This is definitely my favorite Columbo episode. The killers mocked him and thought he was inept. But, they couldn't outsmart a seasoned detective like Columbo.
This was a brilliant conclusion to yet another masterpiece by Peter falk
One of the best of the later episodes. Those two played despicable people to perfection. Fun to see them fry.
Remember this episode is from one of the very first ABC versions of Columbo, when they still cared about the program. I believe this was the seventh episode of the ABC version, aired in 1990, before Columbo became a parody of himself.
It's great to see Robert Culp one more time!
Loved this. The students really played around with him. Messed with him. As if it was a game.
I'm sure they had fun in prison, too
I love this episode. Only thing I wished was the arrest was made in front of the feathers too. As, they berated Columbo on his skills.
That one student has such a I-know-it all smirk on his face, doesn’t he?
Columbo is my all time favorite tv series.
Again a great episode with a memorable musical theme. Those are the best.
I really liked this episode.
However, you would think these two would be have removed the murder weapon from the engine bay of the pickup and disposed of its. Not that it would have exonerated them as Columbo planted the red herring with his wife's car.
The idea was to frame Dominic. They kept the gun to put it in his car. What they didn’t realize was they were actually putting it in Mrs. Columbos car. While the kids were upstairs, a different gun was placed under the hood.
Never understood why the two killers didn't remove the shooting apparatus from the car after the killing....that's some monumental stupidity...
Absolutely fascinating!
“My wife’s niece” but then “our dog” 😂😂
I believe this episode was based on 2 real students that killed someone in the 1920s, and thought they were smarter than the police, but got caught. It's been a while and I cannot remember the name of the case.
Leopold n Loeb. Both got convicted. One was killed in prison while another moved to the Caribbean after finishing his sentence, if not mistaken
Tbf, a lot of movies n tv show had been done using that case as inspiration. Hitchcock's movie, rope for example.
@@dchegu the book "In Cold blood" was about them too, wasn't it?
@@dchegu ahh ok, that’s the one! Thanks!
@@lorrainem.swartzentruber3077 that one is based on another real life crime, I think
@@lorrainem.swartzentruber3077 Capote's In Cold Blood was about the 1959 Clutter family killings. Perry Smith and Richard Hickock were convicted and executed in 1965.
great episode that includes state if the art technology. the shorts doesn’t include the alibi set up sting by Columbo similar to The Friend in Deed albeit explained by Columbo in the end which was the pivotal gotcha evidence that solely incriminates the two.
I love this episode.. I just wish they showed the reaction of Justins father lol
Robert Culp would be like you chuckleheads are so f***ing dumb.
Their imitating columbo and telling him they like his car😂🤣😂🤣 such d-bags. 😂🤣
Abslolutely LOVE the ' In Minutes Episodes'!! Thank you!
I love this episode! My favorite part is how none of it could ever have happened in a million years.
My favourite episode! Brilliant!
Robert Culp appeared in this episode, for a change he wasn't the bad guy! 😏
He still got to play an unpleasant character though. I'm sure Robert enjoyed these types of roles.
@@JORDAN-ul9vs actually, not. How could he play a college-aged student?!
Been watching these clips for days. I think this is the first one where a murder resulted in bloodstains - and boy howdy did the special effects dept go to town with the fake blood!!
Professor Rusk looks like Tony Blair!!
I watched Columbo in the 90,so. Now let's am back to watching again!
I liked the "Rope" vibes in this one.
Such cutting edge technology!

Columbo should have been in charge of the OJ Simpson case
You never see the criminal case in court which many police dramas incorporate in their stories. Columbo might be disappointed in how his “suspicion of murder” arrests actually transpire on the stand.
This episode is from one of the very first ABC versions of Columbo, when they still cared about the program. I believe this was the seventh episode of the ABC version, aired in 1990, before Columbo became a parody of himself.
Ahh. Thanks, as i thought this was from the 70s. That student appears in the later seasons of Seinfeld, and doesn't age that much.
Great Épisode
R.I.P, Great Columbo.
l Love coLombo ..the best episode❤❤❤ 👍
Fun episode but it was a little overdone. Nice to see Robert Culp play someone other than a murderer. One thing for sure: those murderers are going to be reeeaaal popular in San Quentin
folsom prison blues!
Leopold & Loeb..............Culp's final appearance.
I still say that the tech back then was still to primitive to pull this one off in reality. No way could that door lock remote have a signal strong enough to be received from where he was located.
You don't know where he was located/relevant to where the vehicle is.
@@ianmangham4570 I know that garage was in the lower level of the building surrounded by concrete, metal and upper floors. There was no wifi or Bluetooth back then and the signal strength of the devices they used would not be strong enough. They didn't even have repeaters to strengthen or boost the signal.
@@ricogoldstar Its called dramatic license numbnuts, there's a thousand things you can pick apart like How's the camera sat way up high on the engine gonna see through the grill so clearly/How's a pistol gonna hit him in the head without shooting through the hood, the old device uses INFRARED, now go make me sandwich MARY! 🤡
@@ianmangham4570 There's dramatic license and then there's total bullshit. I call bs. Sit on it. 👍🤪
@@ricogoldstar So you're saying Fuzzy Wuzzy was a woman! 🤡
Seems that what made Columbo suspect them was how they reminded the guard of the tape, had they not there would have been nothing to prove the exact timing, and I think that would have actually saved them.
They wanted a solid alibi so much that they hammered it to pieces, understandble as bad students would have got on the suspect list, but they just needed to not be anywhere around the parking spot.
I don't understand if Columbo put a gun on the rig in their truck and they faked surprise at their vehicle being used as sniper nest or if Columbo placed one the lab made.
It’s very Leopold and Loeb
how did columbo open the hood without first releasing the hood release?
The hood release was in the front grill. There wasn't an inside hood release at that time.
@@paulacornelison243 thanks for the info.
If you commit a murder. And the guy shows up named Columbo.. Just confess to it and get it over with...
isnt it odd this is so old yet its almost clearest picture quality on youtube
Digitally remastered to perfection.
You cut the videos off too soon. We don't get to savor the moment.
Now-a-day, they make’m so small; they can stick’m right up... -that’s enough!😜😹😹
Yep- thats just tmi!!!
Nice truck
American university and college students still dressed nicely at the beginning of 1990's. This Columbo episode shows this well. Didn't quite dress up the way they did in the 1960's and before, but still quite nicely. Ten years later that would be gone.
I think these particular students also had rich parents.
I think you could say that about anything. Not just college students. The world had more class back then.
Small mistake... At 10:40, the zip-tie is still intact. If the weapon had been fired, the action would have snapped the plastic tie.
Doesn't detract from the genius of the show though.
Possibly the most obnoxious of all Columbo killers.
Similar trap he set for the Commissioner Halperin case.
One of the best episodes in the later years of Columbo.
However, the ending appeared to be copied from "A Friend in Deed".
Remmeber Artie Jessup's Apartment.
I still hate those kids. Good acting💚
Nice actor Columbo ❤❤❤
😂🤣😃 columbo vs students they think that he is stupid
" Cause we knew how to do it.."
All these clips I've been watching for the last couple of weeks and it's only just the last couple where I've heard the phrase "...suspicion of murder.".
Why haven't I been hearing "...first degree homicide."???
Because a specific sentence has to be determined in court. Upon arrest it’s usually a suspicion
@@zzc8505 Honestly, looking back on it, I'm surprised I even made that comment. Like I was nit-picking or something. Now I figure it was just how the script was written, and no one was really into making that point 'accurate' for the time.
But I could be wrong...
Anyway, have a great day! 🙂
@@abcde_fz no big deal. We all get "nit-picky" once in a while. Have a great day, too!
That plan would only have worked if no one else was in the parking garage at that time. If someone was walking in the area where the prof got shot they would be able pinpoint where the shot came from.
Is this what traumatized Marcy and turned her into a chicken?
Well, they're one thing that bothers me... They did a murder while Lieutenant Columbo stood in front of them in the very same room...
i like the episode but since the murder they were driving around with the loaded gun in the car, also they couldn`t use the locking device when they parked somewhere, unless they wanted to kill someone else...but maybe i am missing something?
Columbo wares an old coat, he drives an old car, he seems like a rather poor man. While the murderers seem to be rich I think Columbo has a very well paid job. I believe he spends most of his money on his wife, she drives a very nice car.
If Columbo isn't careful , people will catch onto his ploys . This is my car my photos , just like his flat . These are my shirts, my brother in law 😉
If they had just listened to him explaining his methods they would have known to just shut up. Alas their undeserved egos got the better of them.
The car wouldn’t have fit anyway, due to the angle of the bullet. Their car is much higher.
Isn’t this exactly the same resolution as in the episode “a friend in deed”, recycled????
It is, but those who saw the original from 1975 either didn´t remember, or didn´t care, and the new audiences from a quarter of a century later wouldn´t know. Only now are we able to watch the whole series in a single stroke and compare ....
Every time I see Justin I think of Tour of Duty :)
And the guy they murdered was an in episode of Tour Of Duty, so it was like a reunion.
And they didn’t remove the contraption… ?
Yeah I know…it’s Columbo

A serial wife-cheater somehow finds a high moral ground to get that implacable with two students who cheated on a test. Cheating on a test doesn’t merit getting kicked out of school and that kind of escalation. Just give them F for the test and move on. But he escalates it unnecessarily and even gives them some moral lecture. He didn’t deserve to be shot, of course, but still hard to feel sorry for him.
"This is my wife's niece." Wouldn't that also make her Columbo's niece? Why phrase it that way?
While in general it could be “our” niece, technically by blood it can only be either a wife’s or a husband’s niece, unless the wife and the husband are closely related. Nothing wrong with saying “wife’s” niece, doesn’t mean he doesn’t live her or anything. Just that it’s his wife’s blood relatives
The original GoPro
Criminals, didn't remove the gun and equipment after 1 WEEK. Criminals loaded more than 1 ROUND in the gun. Criminals didn't plead the the 5th.
If you want to give us various bits and pieces of this episode, why not just post the entire episode? Please.
I don't think they have permission for that. Remember that syndicated shows are owned by media conglomerates. If you don't have permission to post entire episodes, you can get in trouble if you do it. And since this is an official Columbo "clips" RUclips, they'll be hit pretty hard if they start uploading whole episodes without permission.
You can get all the episodes on DVD pretty cheap these days. I have most of them.
Try peacock…it has Columbo on it

I don't get it...Why does he need to lure them with his wife's car ? I mean the weapon and camera were in their car and the device activating the gun was their car's key...
Because they tried to frame Dominick and could claim he used their car and all. And their claim could be supported in court. Columbo needed a strong evidence that it is they who actually did it, not Dominick (or anyone else)
