Because currently in Siem Reap, company are not allowed to build higher than Angkor Wat. But who know that might change in the future, still i hope this rule remains
The eras of Cambodia genocide were not started during the Khmer Roug. Cambodia was under foreign occupation for more than 200 years before the 16 years of Norodom Sihanouk independent. The digging of the Vin-Te Canal era under Emperor Minh Mang was just as bad as the genocide during the Khmer Rouge era. Those in power during the Khmer Rouge were all descended from those had power during Cambodia was under foreign occupation before the French protectorate. This part of Cambodia history was the real responsibility for historian to tell, but its seem like every author truncated this part of history. After all the digging of the Vin-Te Canal was 30 year before the French protectorate in 1862.
Just imagine what Angkor Wat would have looked if the war didn’t happen. It was brothers against brothers at that temple which is why there are remnants of bullet holes. And looters scramble to saw off any statues to pawn them off. My grandpa was really close, maybe a few yards/meter away when he fought against the communist. He yelled “Do you want to eat my flesh? Why do you want to kill me?” at the communist. No replies back was when he realized the enemy he was fighting had no moral grounds. This is one of the reason why my family fled before the Khmer Rouge took over. My grandpa awareness was why my family is still here today. He didn’t want to leave his land, his livestocks, and his village like so many other Cambodians during this time period.
I'm in Siem Reap right now. I arrived a few days ago. I like it so much better than Thailand. The only thing I don't like is being pestered by the tuk tuk drivers constantly. It's the slow season so they are desperate. When you say no thank you to the ride they then move into propositioning you with various illegal vices lol. Other than that this is a great place. If you come during tourist season I'm guessing you won't run into this problem.
Wow! That must’ve been an awesome experience. Siem Reap is definitely a hidden gem and super chill with genuine, nice people from our experience. Can’t wait to go back 🤍Thank you for your lovely comment!
If i am going to retire in seim reap cambodia i am not eating western food at all i try to learn Cambodian language live among local people that means real lovely lifestyle thanks for great videos ❤ from Dallas tx USA
After learning about Cambodia, you will know that Cambodia is a good country for tourism. 1-Friendly people 2-Security 3- Cheap accommodation and food too 4- Many temples 5- Good weather
In the west. Speak for your own country. Schools outside usa have some really good standards. Chinese send their smartest children to study in Australia
Yeah I noticed I didn’t see tall building too and I think maybe the Government doesn’t allow to build higher than the top of the Angkor Temple correct me if I’m wrong.
@@ninaraj Yeah, and that's why I like the place it's unique and relaxing. I mean that everywhere in the world there are tall buildings, please keep Siem Reap like this forever.
You always have to be aware of your surroundings no matter where you are. But when we walked around at night or day in Siem Reap, we did not feel unsafe at all. :)
Be careful in SE Asia when taxi drivers or guides try to take you somewhere because it's normally inflated prices that they collect a commission on. In Thailand its jewelry shops, tailor shops, "massage parlors" go-go bars or clubs, or overpriced restaurants. They'll tell you the place you want to go I.e. The Grand Palace, is closed due to a holiday but the rip-off place they want to take you is opened. Tuk tuk drivers are the worst but taxi drivers will do the same thing.

I agree, it would change the atmosphere alot if they changed that rule. Thank you for watching!
Will not change in the future UNESCO not allow unless government decide to drop Angkor Wat from UNESCO list
Chinese investors will probably change that unfortunately
Amazing vlog! the temples look so cool a must visit in a lifetime for sure.
Definitely!! 😊
Buildings in Siem Reap are not allow to be taller than Angkor Wat temple which is 65m
That’s good! I think it preserves the significance of Angkor Wat in that area :)
Thanks for posting! I’m cambodian-american and my parents left because of the genocide . I’m so excited to finally visit this summer ❤️
that's so exciting! hope you have fun on your trip :)

Great video! Did you guys go to the "echo room" in Angkor Wat? Some of the smaller temples in the area have the same type of room.
Unfortunately, I did not, I will look into it more though! Thanks for the idea!

That’s good for them. I was just speaking on what I’ve noticed personally . Thank you for watching :)
not sure why having a lot of Chinese is a bragging factor. Makes the image of the country much worse.
There is a strict code for buildings in Angkor. No higher than 65 meters the height of Angkor wat.
My country, Angkor Wat Cambodia is the best . Welcome back again ❤
