Ever since I discovered this woman from reading her novel 'women don't owe you pretty' when I was 15, (I am now 19) my perspective has completely changed, I love my body and have become comfortable in my own skin. Words cannot describe how inspiring and excited this woman makes me feel, we love you floss ❤
So inspiring that the skinny blue eyed, able bodied, middle class white woman can let us know that women don’t owe you pretty… but apparently being woke (I.e left wing) is a problem. I’m sure she made herself even more money from her vacuous book.
Thank you both this was incredible! What an absolutely inspirational and wise young woman. I wish I had had this mindset and insights two decades ago! ❤
Oh I loved this chat 🩷 you are both an inspiration 👏 a yoga teacher once said to me 'it's about how it feels, not how it looks' and that spoke volumes to me. I love the way Florence voices her opinions, it really speaks to me, and likely most women. Keep up the authentic expression ladies 💫
Sad to say as a non instagrammer i have never heard of dear Floss but thanks to you Fern I have now. I now have a few more books on my xmas list and MORE podcasts to watch. ughhh. Hard life!
Quite glad I've watched this. What was discussed really helped me out with my own issues. Give some perspective, but also comfort that there are ways forward.
Found this on my homepage randomly and decided to listen whilst I cleaned my kitchen and it was like hearing someone voice all of my thoughts, feelings and experiences. Just wonderful, thank you
Coming to the end of this podcast and I feel I could burst and cry all at the same time! ❤ I love Florence’s warmth, passion and enthusiasm! It’s refreshing ! It’s delicious! Lots of people won’t like this approach ….. but now we know why 😉
My son’s gf is Floss’s age, she sadly lost her mum when she was a toddler. I had the strongest feeling of “her mum would want her to hear what’s in this book” it was such a strange compulsion, it came out of nowhere, I bought it for her there and then. I’m here for her, she knows this, but you can’t beat your own mum, nor would I want to. But solid sound advice is always welcome for all of us. I’m 54 and Floss made complete sense to me too, she made me think. Loved this interview. There are several little book of mindfulness, anyone have an idea which Author they’re talking about?
very interesting episode! Love what Floss said about how modern feminism has swayed to what it is now and also how she romantisises life. On the topic of cringe: I myself am extremely extroverted by nature and have a youtube channel so i have had to get over that feeling of thinking im cringe, and perhaps some people think i am. However, when i think of when i have found someone cringe its more to do that the individual lacks self awareness and is disturbing others in public as oppose to just dancing round in videos and being happy. This may sound controversial but i also think the evolution of 'cringe' developed in societies to keep decorum or congruence between large amounts of people, a bit like being polite. Politeness may stifle what you really want to say or how you communicate with others if someone has been rude etc, but many would maintain an element of politeness to an argument for it not to descent into chaos. I feel that way with why we sometimes feel this inherent cringe towards things. The friction comes with the fact different people find different things cringe, and because most humans care about what others think, it may affect us detrimentally and impede us from being our authentic selves if we perceive a group of people to find us cringe
this is one of the best podcasts i’ve ever watched, and i’ve watched a lot. Floss articulates things so beautifully. this video has really shifted my perspective and gave me a better understanding of myself. will be checking out her book, thank you ❤
Your speaking out of my chest, i stumbled upon your amaizing book in just the right time. I'm eating up every word and i desire to find myself back to whom i was so similar to ur explination as a child. Thank you so much for ur Courage and determination ❤
this conversation has been SO PROFOUND to me ! I can't even begin to explain... it was been BREAKTHROUGH AFTER BREAKTHROUGH AFTER BREAKTHROUGH AFTER BREAKTHROUGH !! ✨✨✨ & I mean... TOUCHING & HEALING DEEP LINEAGE STUFF ! ❤🩹💗❤🔥 thank you so much to both of you, & especially to Floss, for being so True to herself & with her words ❤ WHAT A GIFT ! (to being that way + to have her on this planet 💖💖💖)
So when I cringe coz someone had a full face of acne it's bcoz I wish I had a full face of acne? When I cringe wen I hear ppl talk about ppl pooting on eachother in bedroom it's coz that's what I want deep down? Lool yh no I don't think so 😂 I don't want either of those nor are jealous of those as much I don't wanna dance around on the tok like someone a little too special n that's for any grown adult dancing online lol no offence
Ok, but their is something missing in this version of feminism being presented here, we need to have intersectional feminism to have true power, and it's not here. Without it you risk alienating further marginalised groups, the black and brown women, the disabled women, the LGBTQ+. These need to be included. if they are not, this is progressive enough, and we need to do better.
Should be called “Florence Given on exclusively white feminism and ignoring issues that affect women globally” you have a platform, if you care about women other than yourself, use it
She does talk about listening to WOC as well. However since she's not a WOC she can't give that perspective herself. You can read her book and also feminists books by WOC too.
How comfortable are you with embracing being cringe? Let us know in the comments!
Floss is such an inspiration to women and has guided me in rediscovering my spark for life. Long live women who are genuine and joyful!! Love u Floss
I hope this podcast reaches as many women as possible 💓 this is delicious food for the mind, body and soul that everyone should get a taste of
