I had a Brazilian blowout years ago. I had a grown out undercut and wanted to try something edgy. When my hairs long, its wavy and doesn't like to co operate. I used to have to flat iron it to keep it from getting out of control. Figured I'd try a Brazilian blowout. Definitely did help as it saved me time when I did my hair.
The ingredients in the Brazilian blowout will release formaldehyde when heated at high temperature, which is harmful to the body. The US FDA has issued a warning.

My Way of Doing My Hair
Washing
- Saturate my Hair Filled in a Bottle of Warm Water
- Detangle (3 mins)
- Apply Shampoo, Brush each Section (10 seconds), Rinse (1 min)
- Condition my Hair, Detangle (3 mins), Steam my Hair (30 mins), Rinse: Warm (1 min), Cold (Depends How Long)

I mean logically you can’t change your genes. Permanent probably just means it lasts longer than using a straightener that washes off in one day.
