"Your Uncle Barney and Aunt Robin used to be married. When they got married I hired a band for their wedding, the bass player of which was your mother. I was getting the train home and your mother was taking the same train. And that kids is how I met your mother"
"Wow Dad, that was a very concise and short story. Could you imagine if you had sat us down and just went through your entire dating history instead of just saying that?"
I get the ending because I’ve been in that position being in love with someone that you can’t really be with because of the stars not lining up. So you go on with life and really enjoy life without them but you never really stop loving them. It’s beautiful tragic in a way
But..... It IS the original French horn? He didn't steal it again because he's HAD it. Remember, it ends up at the apartment when they live together and she moves out after that fight and leaves it.
I don't quite despise the ending like everyone else but honestly if this was the plan a long then they never should've had Barney and Robin get married. Ending works better if Barney is given the same ending minus his marriage to robin and Robin marries someone else and gets divorced OR she never married.
Maybe not as joyful as this, but at some point, you want your parent to be happy. Especially if they are alone for a long time. The kids stated that they love Robin and notice their father had a thing for her. I see it as really plausible that they would look out for their dad after 6 years of being a widow.
They were two persons who are in love and had differet expectations from life. now Ted has two kids and Robin had so many great things about her career. Now they have everything they want but each other. Perfect timing...
Tbf when you think about it, when he narrates it throughout the show he spoke about robin in a loving way. Even getting jealous when he recalls her previous boyfriends.
From the way i see it they were meant to be together because Ted could go to any limit to just to put a smile on Robin's face. Where as Robin only loved him with all her heart or we can say of all she was possible of but she suppressed it with all the doubts . And also she never believed that Ted won't be there for her. But when Ted hot married she knew exactly what she lost. Two people are soul mate when each other's mere presence or a call can calm yours worst of anxiety. It's just sometimes one is taken for granted and the other is not choosen over. When love is pure hope never dies.
What's overshadowed in the ending is just how genuinely good of a person Ted is. He did not and just could not do to Barney what Barney did to him, which was take away the love of his life. And Robin chose the person who was willing to go to those lengths just to be with her. The idea of Robin and Barney getting together was gonna end up being polarizing one way or another. Because if in the end, Tracy still died, but ROBIN AND BARNEY DID NOT HAPPEN, THEN THE ENDING WOULD HAVE MADE MORE SENSE. All it did was leave an icky tension between the three and leave Barney as a side character. There was literally no buildup to his ending, he just reverted to his old ways but all of a sudden was just enlightened in one episode.
no, barney generally never wanted a relationship/marriage, that's why the ending makes sense. everyone got what they truly wanted in the end. ted got married and had kids, barney is forever a bachelor and robin was able to have a childless relationship with ted.
If you know how it ends and rewatch it, this makes sense. The writers had a lot nuance with there relationship, that they were the love of each other’s lives from the beginning, and time wasn’t right until now. I hated this ending at the beginning, but now In ok with it. The problem is that the creators just “promoted” the show wrong. In narrating, they made it clear none of these people were the mother, so the audience didn’t get as in invested in his relationships (even though it was pretty obvious Robin was the one all along, looking back). If they kept it more vague people would have been more invested and would have enjoyed the final ending payoff.
It would have made sense if the last three seasons didn't happen, Robin literally says to Ted she doesn't love him when he proposes and then in the last season ep 22 he finally realises she's meant to be with Barney and he can't be with her like that. The two of them don't even get along as a couple not even because of the kids thing they just always find a way to argue
You know how this ending could have been acceptable to everyone? If Robin's wedding happened in just 2 episodes The rest of the season should have been how their marriage went. The ups , the down and the divorce. And how ted and tracy were happy. Their fights, their love and their relationship with the gang and children. And how they took Tracy's diagnosis, how helpless was ted. They should have shown tracy's funeral and how broken was ted and how robin helped to raise the kids. Then people wouldn't have complained it so much.
Exactly. I mean yeah, it's kinda full circle moment they ended up together but Barny went through so much just to end up the same. And the way Barny's and Robin's wedding was so detailed and everything. It's like those last two episodes are totally out of nowhere.

They got Barney and Robin married, to make sure people won’t expect the ending. The ending can’t be something we can expect. If we looked back, the ending would make sense with Robin. The story started with Ted chasing Robin, love at the first sight. And it ends with Robin.

There is a theory that says that the rain meant taking bad decisions in the series. Everytime Ted and Robin got together it rained, or when Robin married Barney. There comes Tracy, with the yellow umbrella, helping Ted getting over the rain, getting over Robin. Finally, when he has not the umbrella anymore, and Robin can put love before her carreer, the rain stopped. In this last scene you can see that the pavement was wet, like it recently stopped raining, that means that Ted and Robin can finally be together.
@@franchualonso9813 Interesting theory, but how many times did Robin and Ted got together in the rain, i think once in the season 1 finale...and honestly it was epic.
Without seeing the series but only seeing edits and comments.I knew that it was always ted and robin and finally I am glad I show the ending of the show
They completely screwed the pooch with this ending. The only possible chance it has of working, is with the deleted scene between Robin and Ted having their little heart to heart. Without it poor Tracy is basically a throw away, used to give Ted the kids Robin couldn’t, before being killed off so Ted can run back to Robin. I loathed this ending since i saw it, but now i love it. Sometimes it takes being in your own Ted/Robin situation. I got the hope. We got the chemistry… just need the timing.
quando eu assisti esse final pela primeira vez eu fiquei muito puto. Hoje, trançando uma analogia com a série eu vejo que minha vida nunca foi em busca do guarda chuva amarelo e sim da trombeta azul. Que doidera
I’ve never hated this ending. Tracy let go of her love for Max to be with Ted, and gave him a beautiful family. And in the same way, Ted let go of his love for Tracy to be with Robin. My only issue is how sloppy it was executed.
I know that so many people hated the ending because it did “the mother” dirty and had Ted end up with Robin. I was a part of that generation (me & my husband are basically Marshall & Lilly!) so I understand how we were all kind of programmed to look for our perfect soulmate, the person who had the same interests as us, same temperament, the exact quirks we wanted them to have…but now that I’m older and I look back, I realize that this person doesn’t exist and even if they did, we wouldn’t fall in love with them. I fell in love with the polar opposite of myself, someone that I have absolutely nothing in common with. That person challenged me while at the same time supporting me because he understood that it’s our differences that make the relationship fun and an adventure. We both reflected (now 20 years into our marriage) on how immediately & tragically bored we would be if we ended up with exactly the perfect partners we envisioned for ourselves in our early 20’s. I’ve met other nerds like me since, who were into my kind of depressing music and sci-fi crap…and I HATED them! They were so judgmental, mean and pessimistic! My jock of a husband has met other girls like him, who were into sports and outdoorsy stuff and he found them obnoxiously competitive and stifling, because they constantly encroached upon & violated his bonding time with his boys. It makes sense that a guy like Ted would be attracted to and fall for a girl like Robin, in my mind, if the mother didn’t die, he would have gotten bored with her pretty quickly in real life, and he would have ended up divorced anyway. Most couples I know who are are still together are not perfect mates, they’re more like Marshalls & Lillys, they got together young because of an initial attraction and just grew together as a couple because of their shared goals and in spite of their differences. The ending of HIMYM was actually perfect because Ted got to have the family he wanted, with this ideal but boring girl, and then she died a martyr before he got too bored with her and got to pursue the passionate relationship with Robin, once she got all of her independent goals out of her system in her older age & was ready to settle down with him.
I personally like the ending because I loved Ted and robin together however I get why some dislike it because Tracy is such a good character but for me this ending was very good
Idk why but from my experience, Tracy is Innerchild of ted, thats why she is know everything about ted's life, marshal and lily is his masculine and feminine ego, barney is alter ego to survive loneliness, and yeah tracy is his inner child (self unconscious) that is why she know everything about ted, and she is doing what dream of ted that he neglect as he grow up chasing career.
I get why they went the Robin route. He does love her and never stopped. It was a doomed love tho, with different paths. The stars would never align. That said, I think the true message of HIMYM is patience. Ted waited forever for Tracy. He went through so much pain. Even the framing device of it being him telling this story is about patience. If he hadn’t met Robin, she wouldn’t have met Barney, and Tracy wouldn’t have been at their wedding. Tracy should have been his last love. Robin should’ve stayed with Barney imho. And it should have ended with Bob Saget Ted telling the kids that no matter how hopeless it may get or how long it may take, they too will find their loves.
It's been 10 years that i have seen this show..what i remember is that i did not like ted going back to robin because she chose barney and she married him. And now that no body else wants her she accept ted
If they gave us more time with Robins grief over barney and ted moving on, more interactions of them with Tracey, this ending would have made more sense having the wedding be a full season to break the marriage the next episode was dumb
The ending is stupid, Barney her damn "ex-husband" would be still around, the kids didn't even know their "aunt Robin" and their "uncle Barney" were even a couple, even worse they got married and suddenly told his father to go and get her is ridiculous. Next family reunion she and Barney would have a relapse, is the logic thing if you follow the series. Ps: The best thing, is the feeling of boredom the kids have when the mother was already dead all this time. The treatment they give to the mother was very disrespectful in the end. Her only purpose was to had Ted's babies so there won't be any obstacles to get together with Robin in the end.
How I Met You Father would have been a much better and more successful idea if Ted's kids, along with Marshal and Lilly, and Barney's kids had been the main characters.
I'm conflicted about the ending. Ted showing robin the Smurf penis to ask her out is really such a cleaver way to end the story. It is very clear the story Ted told is about how he wants to be with Robin. Where I take issue is where the entire final season is about Robin and Barney getting married and then splitting up. Overall, I do still like this ending and think people are a little too harsh on it. At least it didn't turn out to be all in the head of a autistic boy looking at a snow globe.
Words cannot describe how fucking ridiculous this ending is and how pissed I am at the insane incompetence of the writers for thinking that this was the right send off.
y'all in the comments loving that ted and robin end up together lmaoo pls be real robin dated him once AND THAT WAS IT FOR HER...SHE WASNT IN LOVE WID HIM IM SORRY BUT IT WAS PRETTY CLEAR TED WAS ALWAYS HER BACKUP SHE'D THINK SHE WANTED TO BE WITH AFTER EVERYTHING WENT WRONG WID BARNEY OR SMONE ELSE BECOZ OF TEDS EFFORTS BUT NOT BECOZ SHE LOVED HIM IN ANYWAY..most prolly the scene where show ended she must've made out wid him enjoyed the moment and then after a few days or next day shed be like no ted I'm sorry I dont love u this isnt what I want ,that's classic robin y'all Her character development didnt take place at all she was back to square in at last, she ended up not being a bestfriend to lily either when she needed her in the last 2 eps Plus the reason barney and robin fucking divorced was soso stupid like becoz uve to travel for work Um pls.marriage needs more compromise than that but also what would u expect if on the wedding dau robin is unsure who to marry ,the groom or his bestfriend and the groom wants to run away too Barney had no character development either ,after actually falling in love wid 3 women throughout the show, marrying and divorcing HE WAS BACK TO BEING A WOMANIZER AGAIN I MEAN PLS he hit on a girl infront of his ex wife he saw after ages who was his bestfriend btw🤡 I think the writers were high for sure while writing s9
but didnt robin say to ted multiple times she didnt love him because in season 7 no pressure i really felt for him because she said no and then she was totally different in the deleted lunch scene from the finale 🤔
I liked the ending but it was too abrupt this should’ve played out through the season not through basically one episode. We could’ve gotten to know Tracy how much Ted loved her how he was when she died, seen the details of Barney and Robin not working out and seen Ted grieve for those years and him and Robin building a friendship again it was just too abrupt it almost made the mum seem like a footnote or stand in but it’s obvious she was more than that.
The ending wouldn’t have been as bad if the two seasons proceeding it weren’t the two absolute worst seasons of the entire show. They could have introduced Tracy a little sooner and kept her around a little longer too.
Ok I’m back! After my 10th cycle of watching the greatest sitcom created I’ve had a change of heart!!! The ending is terrible robin DOES NOT deserve Ted. She blew him off mutiple times only wanted him when he had a girl an boned/married his bro she’s an asshole 😂😂. Ted is too good for her 💯.
You know, I hated that Robin and Barney got married when it felt it should have been Ted and Robin the whole time. But I really hated this ending even more like the writers were just trying to save the show, which felt rushed and made the show worse and I also hated it because I found it to be impossible to be in love with someone so much the universe/God want you to be together but for some bad or good reason she doesn’t want to be with you. So you let her go, completely let her go and let her live her own life and you move on and start all over with someone else and supposedly 10 years later all of a sudden God/the universe is gonna make you 2 find your way back together again 😂😂😂 BS. I hated it….. until it happened to me. You gonna be with who God/The universe wants you to be with whether you think it’s possible or not. The ending is so real if you know you know.
Ok so they creat a show where father tell his kid a story of himym and they made a chemistry between barny and Robin right but after they give ted his love of life ok and then some mf think let's end up ted and Robin together so what they do they end a good relationship with Barney divorce Robin and Ted's wife die ok And then his kids tell him dad date aunt Robin mom is gonna for six years ok Wtf is wrong with writers and i tell you kid never say this type of things about their mom i mean why they do that
I have a question do you think a fake-out ending would have better? What I mean is we all know Ted and Robin relationship was an important part of the show, so what I'm suggesting is you still introduced Tracy and make her Ted’s girlfriend for the season but in the background and subtle, like a blink and you miss kinda way, you hint that Ted still like Robin. Then in the last episode Tracy can still die or leaves Ted, in away that is tastieful, respectful, and in away didn't upset the fans, then when it cut back to ”old” Ted it revealed that he married Robin and she was actually the mother all along?
I'm sorry but no. You misunderstood the point of this show if you agree with this ending. The point is the character growth and what he had to go through to become the person in order to meet the right person. The show explicitly states that the reason Ted doesn't find true love is because he is hung on Robin even tho the first episode states she is not who he end up with. It is only until he truly let's go of the idea of her does he finally meet his future wife. It's not about finding the perfect person it's about becoming the perfect person. That's the point of the show "The message the, the thesis" underneath it all. By ending up with Robin in the end he still held on to that feeling hence not actually having the transcendent moment to grow thus destroying the entire point of the show. It is trying to tell us that people impeded their own progress by being stuck with an idea or want and the inability to grow until we move on from said idea, obsession, trauma, addiction, etc to finally allow ourselves to progress in our lives....... and THAT is why this ending was a train wreck because it destroyed the entire point of the story
I dont know, I think the whole point is to be happy at the moment, I mean, Ted did find happiness with Tracy, they had 2 kids and they really loved each other til the end... then 6 six years went by and he got a second chance of being happy again...
I think that he was able to be with Robin in the end because he let her go. Like the analogy of how happiness is a butterfly. It flies away if you chase it, but if you are still it may come and sit on your shoulder.
"Your Uncle Barney and Aunt Robin used to be married. When they got married I hired a band for their wedding, the bass player of which was your mother. I was getting the train home and your mother was taking the same train. And that kids is how I met your mother"

I liked this finale, it was obvious always it was about Robin
Perfect ending.
Love even the kids aged as the show went on. 😂
The kids scenes were shot in the first two seasons
Omg, you're totally right! They treated the mother as an incubator and that's all.
And Ted finally find his real Tracy. Her name is…
Jordana
How I Met You Father would have been a much better and more successful idea if Ted's kids, along with Marshal and Lilly, and Barney's kids had been the main characters.
This is the best ending. It was the most realistic. Fight me!
you have poor taste bud!
I don’t know why people think dying is realistic
And he suited up
Barney and Robin are the true end game
We all know it
Yes😢
Lol no .
That ship sank like the Titanic lol
This is so similar with the ending of movie 'definetely maybe'
I'm conflicted about the ending. Ted showing robin the Smurf penis to ask her out is really such a cleaver way to end the story. It is very clear the story Ted told is about how he wants to be with Robin. Where I take issue is where the entire final season is about Robin and Barney getting married and then splitting up. Overall, I do still like this ending and think people are a little too harsh on it. At least it didn't turn out to be all in the head of a autistic boy looking at a snow globe.
He suited up!
Words cannot describe how fucking ridiculous this ending is and how pissed I am at the insane incompetence of the writers for thinking that this was the right send off.
Short and to the point? Ted, theres like 9 seasons!
y'all in the comments loving that ted and robin end up together lmaoo pls be real robin dated him once AND THAT WAS IT FOR HER...SHE WASNT IN LOVE WID HIM IM SORRY BUT IT WAS PRETTY CLEAR TED WAS ALWAYS HER BACKUP SHE'D THINK SHE WANTED TO BE WITH AFTER EVERYTHING WENT WRONG WID BARNEY OR SMONE ELSE BECOZ OF TEDS EFFORTS BUT NOT BECOZ SHE LOVED HIM IN ANYWAY..most prolly the scene where show ended she must've made out wid him enjoyed the moment and then after a few days or next day shed be like no ted I'm sorry I dont love u this isnt what I want ,that's classic robin y'all
Her character development didnt take place at all she was back to square in at last, she ended up not being a bestfriend to lily either when she needed her in the last 2 eps
Plus the reason barney and robin fucking divorced was soso stupid like becoz uve to travel for work Um pls.marriage needs more compromise than that but also what would u expect if on the wedding dau robin is unsure who to marry ,the groom or his bestfriend and the groom wants to run away too
Barney had no character development either ,after actually falling in love wid 3 women throughout the show, marrying and divorcing HE WAS BACK TO BEING A WOMANIZER AGAIN I MEAN PLS he hit on a girl infront of his ex wife he saw after ages who was his bestfriend btw🤡
I think the writers were high for sure while writing s9
Movie name
but didnt robin say to ted multiple times she didnt love him because in season 7 no pressure i really felt for him because she said no and then she was totally different in the deleted lunch scene from the finale 🤔
Worst closure ever. I guess only Game of Thrones had a worse ending than this one.
All this talking for her to just die in one episode
It's soo sad😰
I liked the ending but it was too abrupt this should’ve played out through the season not through basically one episode. We could’ve gotten to know Tracy how much Ted loved her how he was when she died, seen the details of Barney and Robin not working out and seen Ted grieve for those years and him and Robin building a friendship again it was just too abrupt it almost made the mum seem like a footnote or stand in but it’s obvious she was more than that.
song?
How I met your Step Mother
How come these two kids are still at the same age?
I'm wondering if they filmed all the scenes with the kids first, and then did the rest of the series.
@@petermason1185 I googled and that’s exactly what they did.
Ok so they creat a show where father tell his kid a story of himym and they made a chemistry between barny and Robin right but after they give ted his love of life ok and then some mf think let's end up ted and Robin together so what they do they end a good relationship with Barney divorce Robin and Ted's wife die ok
And then his kids tell him dad date aunt Robin mom is gonna for six years ok
Wtf is wrong with writers and i tell you kid never say this type of things about their mom i mean why they do that
Jesus, the b o d y c o u nt of this girl tho
I almost watched the vid; would have been a big ass spoiler
edit: ffffff read the title of the vid and had to see the vid (self control is no good)
❤
This show had a very strong start. And a very weak finish.
Landlines in 2030???? 🤔
This Ending Makes Me Hate Ted and Feel Sorry For His Kids
ridiculous.
Лили должна Маршалу двадцатку)
Get ready for how they really meet, how I met your father😢
Honestly the worst ending I've ever seen.
I’m sorry, I don’t care what anyone says. It makes so much sense and that blue horn means everything 🥹
I’ve never really understood the hate. It’s just a silly sitcom
“Jason Segel as Marshall “
This show tried so hard to be FRIENDS and failed lol
i agree 🤔
Es tan triste
This is BS.
Robin was the mother all along!.
No!! You Idiot!!!!
i love Himym But i hate ted's obsession . and lily
That is a very specific set of things to hate.
Woke ending sucks
im so disappointed
Worst ending ever
You didn't watch the show
Realistic ending
@@thechosenone3014 Only possible ending
Booooooooooooooo
I HATE IT!
