These games weren't cancelled for Deadlock, so I wouldn't blame that for it. Valve employees work on what they want to, it means nobody wanted to work on this and it fell through.
the consept art gives off creator movie vibes, tbh we need more modern mecha/robot games because they used to be pretty common in the late 90s but kinda died off in the early 2000s till more recent, also it wouldve been sick for the source engine
Warframe/destiny vibe Valve has such a high quality standard they won't release if it isn't as good as it can be, which I appreciate. But I'd also love to see them take some risk and release new IPs and see what sticks.

It's OBVIOUSLY Star Wars inspired, but this looks like GOOD star wars, before the disney trilogy. It wears the Inspiration on it's sleeve, and it does it well.
Whatever these are from, I feel like this guy is most definitely working on Deadlock. I can see some characters like Seven, Dynamo or Paradox living in this universe.
Looks more like Star Wars than anything that has come out in the past 10 years, less “omg it’s a lightsaber! “Look a storm trooper!” “Tatooine!” and more Firefly, space western, and fringe. Even if it doesn’t show memberberry-like bait material, it shows 100x more soul. It even looks a little like Rebel Moon with the character designs, thats if Rebel Moon was made by sane, normal people.
That concept art looks 90% Star Wars inspired, very cool aesthetic and looks NOTHING like the Stars of Blood art which has a more modern scifi look. I mean that first piece of artwork literally has an AT-ST carrying a giant Wampa corpse
Honestly in regards to Stars of Blood, I feel like it was likely cancelled because they couldn't really bring it to life in the way they wanted to, they likely were a bit over ambitious with their dream idea of the game, and knowing Valve they would rather cancel a game than publish something they feel isn't living up to their own idea of what the game was supposed to be.
people gotta realise that concept art almost always looks good because you have professional artists make them, it is not much of an indication if the game would or would not have been good. quit ragging on Deadlock and just appreciate the art, take some joy from it instead of twisting it in your head to something negative.
The concept art looks cool but I'm kind of surprised to hear they were working on a game at all. Except for the odd project here and there it seems like they never make games anymore.
Hey! This implies that the game was a game at Valve. Adrian only started working there relatively recently and this work is quite old. You might want to rethink reporting on it this way, because it gives people the wrong idea.
gabe is in charge, but the thing is how the employees are able to work. people at valve are/at least were able to choose exactly what project they would like to work on and when. this would lead to very very good staff morale and the employees were treated super well, but things would never get released. I think they're starting to change it up a bit and give projects priority now.
Wait, so what is estimated numbers of Devs workings on HL:X? ~200? I hope they are going to refine their tools and do all sort of side projects with source 2. I would love old Prey 2 concept in S2.
Man can we get these to the people attempting to create new Star Wars content? Because this is better than anything (Other than Rogue one) that Disney has produced.
Thank goodness we got a VR ONLY HALF-LIFE before this or Half Life 3. . . totally being sarcastic. Don't know what Gabesommar was smoking up in those mountains where he would make the first half life game in over a DECADE inaccessible to the player base that practically paid his bills, and when asked about it in an interview while the dude is wearing NO FREAKIN SHOES, just deflects the question and goes off on his spiel about VR Headsets being the future while fiddling with his toes. What the hell?! I am usually on Gaben's Side, but his marketing niche as of late has been Sub Par. Their newer games have been bland or completely inaccessible. & the one thing the Valve fan base has been asking for since Half Life 2 gets teased cancelled over and over again. IF Half Life 3 comes out as a VR only Title, I will never buy or support a Valve game again.

Valve will never release anything unless they believe it will shake up the entire gaming industry. You have to remember that in spite of steam, they are still a game company.
Might have been a reboot of Stars of Blood, the way Valve does projects is rather neurotic. Half-Life 3 and several other projects have been restarted and cancelled multiple times.
honestly pretty cool. Valve always got good concept art tbh

The fact you got this out quicker then Tyler Mcvicker is very impressive by itself.
Its because this art has nothing to do with Valve. The artists worked on multiple other studious and only recently moved to Valve
Tyler is busy digging code leaks in updates and trying to represent mechanics he talked about in Source2 probably by S&box.
This makes me want to see a Kenshi-like RPG from valve
Half life 4
Why stop at 4. Half Life:X
X = 10

Noticed that too. The robots are probably inspired by the same sources that the movie was inspired by
