Agreed with 99% of what u said, except the part about the Hunts and Marks being too complex dissuading newer players from playing the class. Imo, all classes should be, easy to learn difficult to master. This is what makes them fun to play cuz u have a sense of achievement when u do become skilled at the class and it seperates the skilled player from the newbie. . Dumbing down things so everyone feels special is what makes things boring.
I do agree in principle, but I don't believe that playing a game like a piano to juggle 23 different skills is necessarily the pinnacle of what that means. That just feels like busywork, not like me transforming the course of battle with meaningful decisions. The good "easy to learn hard to master" strategy games don't have 2000 types of units. The good "easy to learn hard to master" shooters don't have 20 weapon skills you have to manage. The good "easy to learn hard to master" fighting games don't have 200 special moves to choose from.
@@AliothAncalagon We're talking about 2 different things. You're talking about the quantity of skills, im not. AoC has approx 18 skills, not the 200 or however high you need to make the number to support your narrative. AoC showcased the combos the skills have with eachother with the status effects etc. Lets compare apples with apples.
@@johndoe-qo8cy I think we talk about the exact same thing. Maybe my analogies went a little off the rails though. If I had to constantly activate hunts, marks and other cooldowns BETWEEN the cooldowns of actually doing all my attacks then the result would be the piano busywork I was talking about. The point of mastering a mark for example should be about choosing the right one, not about developing the muscle memory to fit it between GCDs. Maybe thats just me, but I want to become better in an MMO by improving my decision making, not just by learning to move my fingers quicker.
With regard to the basic/all attack cooldowns. He mentioned he was playing on .01 cooldown enabled for the demo so he could spam it when desired. The talent tree needs ALOT of work but I have faith. This game looks to be amazing someday. I hope it is live before I die.
I’ve been super concerned about the direction of combat. This finally helped relax my anxiety about the combat. It renewed my hope. Now I need to see a caster with dynamic combat and I’ll be able to breathe.
I'm still watching the video, but there is something I want to point out in case you miss it. This game is 3D. Not in textures, but in player movement. We knew there were jumping puzzles; however, until this video, we never saw combat vertically. I hope we see them explore this axis of the game.
Since I haven't played an MMO since EQ1 2000-2004, and don't generally play computer games, I won't know if I like the combat until I actually test. Q3 at least gives me nine months before I really have to think about upgrading from my newbie gaming laptop.
Best Combat Showcase thus far for sure! As a DCUO combat enjoyer, I personally don't want a cooldown for basic attacks. I see a huge influence from DCUO in the weapon skill tree as well. I just wish they incorpurated the fighter style combos from the game. Would spice up the combos to be more than simply mashing Q 3 times. Cannot wait to get some hands on feel in Q3!
I once made a prediction about how I would fall off a bed into a pickle ham sandwich that was made by an Ai tree. Needless to say when I woke up, the soda was part of the paper car and I couldn't purple my socks for the life of me. Later that day my hotdog water sports drink ice pops melted so I couldn't snort them..... Long story short, invisible cows exist and we should all be afraid......
Dude, I've been wondering the same about basic attacks. I was trying to watch if he was pressing the button every time and if it was giving any visual feedback when he used it.
Gobsmacked ... Alpha2 is not happening until 3rd quarter 2024 .. and this game started development when? 2017? If they are not doing alpha 2 until q3 2024 then I would not expect this game to go live until late 2025 or 2026 ... seems incredible it is taking that long
The games already failed, doesnt matter what they do at this point. Everyone i knew who had interest in this lost interest 3 years ago. Lets be hones iIts so fucking clunky and cheap looking for the amount of time and money they have wasted. Just another scam.
How these developers manage to make the combat feel like a korean MMO is beyond mind boggling, and the fact that everyone is apparently getting behind it is why I think this planet needs a new plague. The combat is HORRIBLE, it's clunky, unintuitive and boring. You literally have the longest running, still most popular MMO on the market today that they can take inspiration from, yet don't, and this is why the game will fail.

for screenshot/aesthetic/RP reasons I also hope we can HOLD the ability indefinitely, I don't see that hurting the gameplay. l3

I would honestly not call that amazing combat it’s wow reskinned tab target and click and boring
is it tab targetting? :( how is that freedom of play?

If you're talking about WoW then you've clearly missed the whole point behind this project.
