It's probably true to say that this championship had two of the nicest and humblest competitors in its history. Gukesh's grace and humility, and honouring of his opponent, was wonderful to see. He and Ding are great players, and even better human beings.

Eleven years back in Chennai, the World Champion crown was taken away from India and a kid in the crowd brought it right back. Don’t mess with us Chennaites. Chennai having 2 out 18 world champions is rather incredible.
Edit: I posted it in a lighthearted way. The responses were needlessly serious. That Vishy and Gukesh are from Chennai, India is well known and mentioned in news reports and by commentators, local and International. We have Indians have multiple identities. If we mention state or city, it is not like national identity has been renounced! Some of the responses are beyond ridiculous. I wasn’t trying to say they are not Indians! Frankly, I never even imagined it could be interpreted that way!! That they are from Chennai, that Chennai is the chess capital of India is something that is already written about. Please don’t get outraged over nothing.

Why do all the scripted parts of this event consist of utter bollocks???? Singapore known for its stunning landscapes?? it's a city state, without a single landscape. During the match, when she summed up the previous games, it's just a bunch of cliches that don't relate to those games in the slightest ... she said a combination of skill and luck led to a result in one game, and there was zero event that could be described as lucky or unlucky. Find some writers, this is a world championship ffs.

The awkward pauses, the random applause, unenthusiasm, the uncharismatic hosts, the sleeping audience and a million other cringe things almost made me puke and die of 2nd hand embarrassment.
The only saving grace was Gukesh's speech and Ding's smile.

The pauses were due to the noise gate cutting out the quieter sounds.
There is definitely enthusiasm, it's just not 'youtuber content for 5 year olds' in your face.
The hosts aren't uncharasmatic, I actually really liked Maurice as the host in the end-game questioning and starts of the games.
But seeing Ding smile and gukesh's speech was great, no complaints there
