Honestly I liked how Biodun Stephen kept this one simple and straightforward. Her movies are notorious for never being straightforward and " e dey tire me sometimes" the simplicity worked for me .
🤣🤣🤣 “At e dey tire me sometimes.” I know what you mean. The consolation I have is knowing that she can also do movies with deep plots, sub plots and storylines. Let me not mention examples but we sha know them. Glad the simplicity of SISTA worked for you and so many others who’ve seen it. 🌟
Kehinde Bankole is a phenomenal stage actor as well. She killed her role in this movie. I have always known she was a wonderful actress since i first saw her in Super Story and I am just happy she is being given the much deserved and long overdue praises
For me, the most beautiful thing about this film is how much it tugged at my heartstrings. Many times, the films that are meant to achieve that just end up being boring but this one wasn't. I cried many times because I know women like Sista; women who have done all kinds of odd jobs to raise their children right. I think anyone would enjoy the film tbh.
Eya. Yeah, som many women sadly have gone through what Sista went through. I'm glad you connected with the movie on an emotional level. PS: Have a great week ahead dear. 🎯👍🏾
Hey Tito! I loved this movie and Kehinde Bankole killed her role and even brought me to tears considering her dilemma as a woman. Like you mentioned, I loved Sista's house decor especially the living room. But I found it highly unrealistic as those African pieces do tend to be pretty expensive to purchase and this was supposed to be a low income household. For Bisola's character, I at first felt her reactions were unreal but after much thought, I think what they tried to portray with her character is the strong calm woman. Essentially, the vibe I got was that Folarin wouldn't have gotten a resolution with his first family without those 2 strong women. Something in that sense sha. I think the simplicity of the movie quickly drives home the message of the movie; if you were in Sista's shoes, what would you do? And for a not so avid watcher of Nollywood movies, I loved how that question gave me some thinking to do! Thanks for your review! It was pretty spot on!
Interesting. 🤔 You really took a lot from the movie sha. Nice one. 👍🏽 It was quite thought provoking and it generated lots of conversations online when it came out. Glad you enjoyed it and I’m glad you’re giving Nollywood more of a chance. Love to see it! 🙂🌟
Before I continue watching, this is my favourite Nigerian film in recent time. 'Recent time' being the last two/three years. I loved it. From the first scene, Kehinde Bankole was phenomenal. From that first scene at Jessica Obasi's (character's) house, I could tell that I was in for something nice. The body language was spot on.
Yep I totally agree with your thoughts on how unrealistically calm Bisola’s character was .. but overall it was really refreshing to see a good relatable movie from Nollywood
I can't tell you how refreshing it was to see a character ,on a nollywood screen, without the stereotypical reaction to things. When your reaction to some issues is not the most expressive, people think you're fake. Even now I'm struggling to explain how I understood her frustrations so well. It was in the dialogue. Like she said, forgiving her husband is a different kettle of fish. Her character compartmentalizes things. All in all, the movie did no wrong for me! Definitely well written to provoke various reactions from viewers, moreso when we can all agree it is a daunting reality for many.
Glad to have you back brotherly. As for me, l truly enjoyed the movie especially that the wahala was resolved at the end instead of some wild goose chase or cliff hanger. I like the cast’s performances, however, I am of the opinion that Sista’s house was too much for her job/level/income, though it was beautiful. As for Bisola’s way of handling the situation, honestly l wish l could agree with you but because l had seen how my aunt and a tenant of my parents handled something similar, l just have to pray for more peace/calm in my approach to situations😂😂😂😂😂. 4.5 jollof all da way❤❤❤ and thanks again for sharing your gift with us brotherly.
She's a very good actress but I think this is one of her best if not her best role in recent times. Did you watch Blood Sisters on Netflix last year? Her character was the one married to Gabriel Afolayan's character and they were always getting it on like rabbits.
There is supposed to be a part 2 of this movie.. we want to know what happen to sista after the saga. Did she went back to school? Did she re marry someone else being the fact that she is still in her 30s ? We want to know if she succeeded after relocating.
I enjoyed Kehinde Bankoles character. I saw a similar performance in Prohetess where she worked in a Buka, so it's not entirely new, but it was good. For me, I think the simplicity of the story & shortness of the movie was the selling point for me because that's why I hardly ever watch movies on streaming platform. I loved the movie, I'll rate it more than 50%, maybe 75% - 80% for me.
Sista was good! Stumbled across it one midnight and I was glued to my screen throughout. I was even analysing situation etc. Biodun Stephen sabi the work sha…
Hahaha. Someone said the film is a real example of how men will embarrass you with their bad behavior. Lol. Folarin was really out of line by not checking with Sista first whenever he reached out to the kids. The kids too could have been more considerate of their Mum’s feelings. Anyway, I’m glad you also enjoyed it. 🌟
@@titoabumere the only thing I hoped was that Folarin would give his abandoned children an overseas education and that Sista would not deny them that opportunity. Every other gift he gave them na wash as far as I am concerned…
For me,I totally enjoyed the movie. As for Deyemi always playing the bad guy, I think nollywood film makers have a way of stereotyping actors. I actually went to bed sad after the movie. Realizing that someone could mess up your life and go ahead to live their lives to the full. May I not be at the receiving end .
Amen o! May you never find yourself in that kind of situation or with a person who isn't for you. And may you also never be the one to cause someone grief either. Amen.

@@titoabumere Yes I have and I thoroughly enjoyed it, Kehinde Bankole reminded of a woman in the compound I grew up, Iya Shade, she embodied that character so well, her mannerisms and everything, I really did enjoy the movie, I even cried me a river. Hmm. That’ll be tough Chinedu but I’ll think about it. I just started the rating thing so I’m figuring it out for now and seeing how you guys will respond to it.
Great review Tito 👍🏾 I agree that the movie was very linear ; wish they could’ve done a bit more with the storyline. Also I was confused as to how she came to be referred to as ‘Sista’ and even the kids sometimes referred to her by that name. Thought they could’ve have put some emphasis on that , given that it was the title name of the film..
@Tito's Second Channel yeah, this movie was so relatable (for me personally), and I do agree with you that they could have fleshed out some characters' storyline. For example, it would have been nice to get the kids' perspective of things, especially the moment when they found out their dad was alive this whole time
Best Nollywood movie this year. Well written, well directed. Top notch acting. It's perfect. It's weird that the males in the movie are all selfish, but I'm just nitpicking. A perfect 10 for me.

I also thought it ended way too abruptly and I also was left thinking "so that's it". Id have liked to see how his kids with his wife reacted to that whole situation and a bit more of their new family dynamic. Id give the movie a higher rating though of 3.5 jollof plates.
Hmm i dont think they were relocating. The kids were going off to school and she was accompanying them. Sista definitely wasn't going to go and sit down in Amsterdam. I dont agree about the movie ending though, i think it was quite a realistic. Speak to any single mums or kids raised by single mums then you know that Yes these men almost always come back looking for what wasnt lost and the kids also almost always accept them back. Im not sure it would have been beneficial for the ending to be more dramatic or even drawn out. I also personally loved Bisolas reaction and not the dramatic and crazy reaction we would have expected. And i think its because of how the whole situation panned out. Sista didnt go seeking Folarin. It was such a coincidence and she realised they could have gone their entire lives without ever finding out about this other family, and she felt incredibly bad about it. On the other hand, be very afraid of such people, the ones who can compartmentalise their feelings very well. All in all, im rewatching it tonight. Loved it that much. Well done Tito!

Love the review but i digress on your opinion on Tiwa's character. I think the writer was trying to potray that not all women act out when they are hit with their patners shenanigans. Some or maybe most are calm and act more rationally putting other important factors into consideration. However i dislike the fact that Deyemi is now being stereotyped as the vicious and heartless guy. Young Sista deserves her flowers as this is her first major movie i think.
