Dee never uses charge beam... But he is not the only one, I've seen a ton of people totally forget about it which I find super weird because the way I play I never stop pressing the charge botton xD
Same here, the moment the Charge Beam becomes available, holding "shoot" at all times becomes an instinct. Probably bc of Megaman but i just really love to hear that charging sound.
That's how you can tell who have played a Megaman before, it becomes a part of our nature, if there's a charge button, we never remove our finger from it
Dee's reaction to that bullshit wall in Lower Norfair is how we all feel. It's a shame because it's a really neat gameplay section, too, but many players don't even notice it because the game's tools inexplicably don't work on it for literally no reason (went manually back through the damaging lava room instead which *feels* wrong but works).
58:51 That face :( I want to hug you haha. I felt the same when I finished this game. You did so good! Don't care about the animals, that's optional. OH YOU WENT BACK FOR THE ANIMALS! ♥ That's really laudable of you
The best hint for fighting the underwater boss legitimately is that if you do a charged shot spin jump, it will free you from the goop. Because (1) the boss stops spitting the moment you're hit and (2) it only tries to grab you while you're gooped, this makes the boss much more manageable. As for Lower Norfair on the way to Ridley, obviously this was the game that invented that music theme. It wasn't just a generic "lava zone" music (like in Samus Returns) but very specifically a "you know why you're here, IT'S GO TIME" music. 42:00 - Your X-Ray visor not working here is, presumably, due to technical limitations of the SNES graphics engine. The visor requires a separate background layer from normal to work, but in rooms with lightbugs the extra layer gets prioritized as a lighting mask instead, so the visor doesn't work like it's supposed to. it's one of maybe just TWO legitimate, objective design flaws in Super Metroid. And a quick (however belated) primer to special blocks in Super Metroid: - Fragile blocks: Smooth looking with obvious cracks, these first appeared in NES Metroid and can be destroyed with almost anything, mainly beam shots or bombs. - Bomb blocks: Rough and dimpled (e.g. 32:43), these can be destroyed with bombs or equivalent (including the Screw Attack) BUT NOT beams or missiles. - Pitfall blocks: Have that weird bubbly texture. Completely indestructible except for stepping on them directly, and are definitely used throughout the game as traps and other one-way fallthroughs.
Just a quick thing I wanted to point out on the Fusion let’s play. There are extra endings in the Japanese version’s “child mode” that I recommend you take a look at online after beat it. It explains Samus’ backstory.

50:50 You actually encountered the original Mother Brain room in the VERY beginning of the game, complete with the broken tube and escape sequence shaft.
Hey Dee Bee!!! First off, spoilers to anyone who has not played Fusion or watched Dee Bee’s play through on Twitch. Regarding your question at the end of Metroid Fusion (sorry do not have ability to comment on Twitch so having to post here) the reason the SA-X helps you at the end is there are two threats that the SA-X sees, Samus and the Omega Metroid. Whereas Samus is definitely a threat to the X as a species, the X is intelligent enough to know that both the Space Station and SR388 are as good as destroyed, as there is nothing it can do to change the station’s trajectory. The X then has a choice, get absorbed by Samus and at least live on in some form or for its species to be 100% eradicated when the station destroys it and the planet. The Metroid is its “natural” enemy, more so than Samus, so it sees helping Samus as the lesser of two evils. Also of note, in the end of Fusion Samus has both Chozo (explained in the Mangas) and Metroid DNA and quite possibly might have somehow absorbed some X DNA too. Thus by end of Fusion Samus has become literally the ultimate weapon (Chozo [warrior race], Metroid and X all in one). I have not played Dread yet, but I hope it explores how within Samus, three different entities previously locked in conflict now reside within her. To me, the end of Fusion was made very amazing once I realized what the SA-X was probably doing. Hope that helps make it even more amazing for you as well!
Also, Other M isn't half as bad as it's reputation. It has its issues, but it's still a game worth playing. I think especially DeeBeeGeek would probably like it

Dee, Metroid Other M is actually a very fun game. It has it's downsides, but the atmosphere is great, the boss fights are fun, and the progression is break neck, aside from a few clunky sequences, and some questionable dialogue. The game is pretty awesome. Even if you don't play it on a live stream, you should play it on your own. It's terribly underrated. (Spoiler)The Ridley fight alone is worth the play through. I don't care what anyone says, it's a really good game.
@@ghostofsilence2697 exactly. Most who trash it most likely just follow the stupid hate (it's been over 10 years now, just ridiculous!) and have never actually played it themselves
"This is the same place" Actually no, the place where you fought it in ZM is much earlier in the map, you actually passed it multiple times and never noticed.
I hear Metroid: Other M loses a lot in the translation so it could be worth playing in Japanese with subs. Definitely on an emulator though, controlling a 3D game with that rock solid Wii D-pad was painful.
Yeah. On emulator with an actual controller and mods that make the game better (show direct translations of Japanese dialogue, give you the actual Gtavity Suit, etc) is the way to play Other M.
Great job, Deebee! Glad chat told you about the animals. It's actually important. BTW I dunno if you realize this yet, but the Speed Booster has some hidden uses.
What an amazing video! The legacy of Jay Jay will NEVER be forgotten! And the animals will repay your favour in kind. The reason you cancelled your space jump is because you accidentally aimed up or down. It keeps happening to me when I try to wall ju😊mp
An amazing game and an amazing stream, well done DBG, I'm glad you're almost done with Fusion as well. Hope there's a poll to decide whether or not to play Other M before Dread 🤔 Anyways, regardless of that, don't forget to check out the Chozo Memories from Samus returns 👀
Yeah. Although, I had always tried to hit him when he was swooping. I also knew to destroy the cannons on either side first. I beat him that way first and then learned the grapple beam trick and felt really dumb that I didn't think of it... Gee, grappling onto those hurts because I get electricuted so don't do it, I'm in water, so makes sense, and hey, Draygon's in water and holding me.... hmmmm. Yeah... should have figured that out.
I think you would like "Other M"...you should give it a chance, it's way overhated today (most probably haven't even played it) and though it has some issues, it's not half as bad as its reputation. Also it's unique with being a 3D Metroid game with a 3rd person perspective.
Other M frustrates me. If it didn't have Metroid in the title, it would be just a mediocre action game with some flashy presentation. The fact that it is a Metroid game makes every design decision baffling at best and infuriating at worst. And I'm not even talking about the story.
the place u fought mother brain was not the same place you fought her in zero mission, u passed though it early in the adventure, a ruined facility where there was the broken container of mother brain, it was on your way to and from getting the morph ball.
Amazing Dee! I’ve been so excited to see you get to Super Metroid in your series and you didn’t disappoint. Really hope in the future you’ll revisit the game in your spare time and play through it again. As I feel the game is even better the second time you experience it. Great game Dee! See you next stream for Fusion.
I'd actually be kind of interrested in seeing Dee Bee Geek watch and react to the Other M story. the game itself featured a movie-version of the game that unlocked when you cleared it. This cut together the cutscenes with some gameplay to bridge the gap and worked surprisingly well. It's easily found on youtube... ...But while I usually prefer Dee Bee to play games with english voiceover... for the love of god, if he watches that, he needs to watch the fan-subtitleded (more accurately localized) japanese original. (also found on youtube) I don't think people realize just how much the Nintendo of America localizers messed up the story, lore and character motivations on that one. And how much of the general hatred for the game stems from this terrible hatchet-job.
Agreed. I watched the video where the guy explains the differences, and while not perfect, the Japanese version is SO much better than the English version. Oddly enough, he made his channel just to post that video alone, and it has gotten a pretty good amount of views. The video was extremely well made for first youtube video.
As someone who really does like other M with the rest of Metroid games, I can't see how they mess it up. It felt good, Samus was fun and and everything felt fine to me
@@galonski64 Yeah, the gameplay was great. Story just needed to be fixed. It was very inconsistent with the lore and had many plot holes, and characterization of Samus and Adam contrasted what we were told about them before. Samus praised Adam in Fusion, but here, he is shown disrespectful.
39:49 Some say that one wall in Lower Norfair is a glitch, because the X-Ray Scope graphics don't display properly in a room lit by glow bugs. But I'm with Dee. I reckon it was 100% intentional for the designers to put that wall in a room where the Scope wouldn't work. "Here, player! Have an item that means you'll never bother to push against or bomb walls ever again. It's not as if we, the designers, will *ever* turn your over-reliance on this OP item against you later on. Heh, heh, heh..."
I know I'm months late, but this was actually NEW Tourian. The Old Tourian that you destroyed back in Zero Mission was literally right at the beginning of the game. So... No. It was not the same place.
It's an interesting experience to watch DeeBee see that his standard beam, missiles, etc. are not effective against a boss, and yet continue to try them anyway, over and over and over again, while completely forgetting that he has other things to try, like power bombs and charge beam, all the while complaining about how hard the boss is (much like blaming Samus for his inability to stop pressing up while trying to space jump). He truly achieves Arin Hanson levels of inexplicably confused gameplay here.
I can understand if Deebee forgets things due to bouncing between games (and only playing them a few hours at a time once a week). What I *don't* understand is why the mods don't seek to remind him about basic gameplay mechanics like the Charge Beam (and this came up again in Fusion this week). Those aren't spoilers...and honestly, at some times, it comes across as simple sadism on the part of the mods. I get that people tend to be loose-lipped with regards to lore and story stuff...but they have to be able to differentiate between spoilers and simple reminders of stuff that Dee's *already seen in the game*.
@@pikespeakaudio8898 Just shows that this kind of playing (streaming once a week and many different games simultaneously) isn't really the best way to play some games. No surprise he's struggling more than he should.
@@pikespeakaudio8898 Well said. The mods are unfortunately often hurting the gameplay instead of helping and I don't get why. Are they enjoying it when he for example forgets controls and gets irritated..? :/

I don't care what anyone says, it's a really good game.
Ty I agree with you. Sure it has it flaws, all games do, but I really love playing it, and wish it could come out on switch to play again
I think there are a lot more people who actually enjoy other m than most people think. its just been memed to death
@@ghostofsilence2697 yeah thats true
@@ghostofsilence2697 exactly. Most who trash it most likely just follow the stupid hate (it's been over 10 years now, just ridiculous!) and have never actually played it themselves
"some questionable dialogue" Lol. "Remember me"?
'I do not consent'
'This is for all the bullies because we liked video games.'
Classic Dee Bee.
Some reunion with with Jay Jay, first thing to notice is the dust remains of the creatures that he/she drained to oblivion
52:40 i never know this could happen against mother brain.
I forget the amount, but you need like X amount of health to survive it draining.
only if your health is low enough
Metroid Other M next Deebee letsa goo !!! Time for the giant lore dump!
"This is the same place"
Actually no, the place where you fought it in ZM is much earlier in the map, you actually passed it multiple times and never noticed.
I hear Metroid: Other M loses a lot in the translation so it could be worth playing in Japanese with subs. Definitely on an emulator though, controlling a 3D game with that rock solid Wii D-pad was painful.
Yeah. On emulator with an actual controller and mods that make the game better (show direct translations of Japanese dialogue, give you the actual Gtavity Suit, etc) is the way to play Other M.
yes, if anything, this
Wow, he FINALLY appreciated getting an energy tank! :D
17:55 - Great job hitting every single thing that can hurt you! XD
An amazing game and an amazing stream, well done DBG, I'm glad you're almost done with Fusion as well. Hope there's a poll to decide whether or not to play Other M before Dread 🤔
Anyways, regardless of that, don't forget to check out the Chozo Memories from Samus returns 👀
Aww I actually really want to watch DeeBee play Other M.
Im sure he will one day
I hope he gets to the Prime trilogy
Iove how halfway thru the game he just randomly starts using super missles for the red doors. 😅
Interesting to see someone beat Draygon the proper way while also NOT knowing the easy trick to it. Don't see that often!
Rest in peace JayJay. You will be missed.
1:02:55 - 66%... yeah... You should see the 100% Loadout:
14 Energy Tanks, 230 Missiles, 50 Super Missiles, 50 Power bombs, Grappling Beam, X-Ray Scope
4 Reserve Tanks
Beam: Charge, Ice, Wave, Spazer, Plasma
Suit: Varia, Gravity
Misc: Morph Ball, Bombs, Spring Ball, Screw Attack
Boots: Hi-Jump, Space-Jump, Speed Boosters
the place u fought mother brain was not the same place you fought her in zero mission, u passed though it early in the adventure, a ruined facility where there was the broken container of mother brain, it was on your way to and from getting the morph ball.
34:58
Space Pirate used HIGH JUMP KICK!
it misses...
I wonder if that pokemón attack get inspired by this.
As soon as I realized he named 'The Baby' I knew he would be in so much pain in the end
I hope one day you will play "Metroid: Other M"
same here
I'd actually be kind of interrested in seeing Dee Bee Geek watch and react to the Other M story. the game itself featured a movie-version of the game that unlocked when you cleared it.
(also found on youtube)
I don't think people realize just how much the Nintendo of America localizers messed up the story, lore and character motivations on that one. And how much of the general hatred for the game stems from this terrible hatchet-job.
just said that he needs to play it, even with the localization it's really good story for Samus, I do agree that the story is way better in japanese.
@@andrewcosmicanimations8709 I can't think of any plot holes but I need to reread I guess. I just remembered having fun beating it on the hard mode
Not to mention how he keeps getting disappointed at finding E tanks and not making any deliberate effort to collect them, only to get pushed to the brink of rage-quitting when he keeps dying to moderately difficult bosses.
They could have told him about the dash button in the first stream. It's in the manual and control setup. Instead they let him backtrack to multiple dead ends. If he wasn't so damn likeable, I would never have finished watching some of these uploads.
3 big boss fights in the final episode?! EPIC!! Even went back for the animals :'D
It's amazing how far you got without the screw attack
The Norfair pun made me laugh hard 😂
Anyway, it's a shame that you'll play OtherM later, it should have been played after Super and before Fusion, especially given how much you grew fonder of the Baby Metroid (aka Jay Jay), since OtherM delves deeper into Samus's connection with it.
The inconsistent space jumps are one thing I hate about this game. When she stops spinning in the middle of a jump........
Dee, you should play the Wild Arms RPG series. You'll LOVE it if you love great music in video games.
RIP Jay Jay. You da real MVP.
Ahhh I remember the first time when I ran into that giant Metroid and the following realization that it was the infant Metroid was so shocking.
when you said other m at the end I was happy, for 2 seconds... play other m dude.
40:05
Thats a metroidvania for you
Smtimes it wont be revealed to you
You must be curious and at the end your curiousity will be rewarded
That reaction to the Metroid dying was epic bro. Glad you got to finish this game
No we on youtube need to rush thru fusion cuz I know you finished and I want to see dread so much
He actually hasn’t finished fusion yet, 1 more stream
He didn't, las stream had really though moments of the game (plus some puzzles) that left him exhausted so, after 5 hours, the community agreed that it wasn't worth forcing him to complete it, but only 30min-2h of game are left
He was like, really tired, he probably wouldn't have enjoyed Fusion's ending
54:44 Samus is going super Saiyan.😡😡😡😡
18:55 - Surely you could recognize one-way crumble blocks by NOW, dude... C'mon.
Loving these Metroid streams! Also, someday you need to get to the Sonic games with how often you reference Escape from the City, lol.
R.I.P. Jay Jay😔
4:37 continues where last video left off.
"Why is there a savepoint there?" Guess you found out real fast 😁 You'd better master that Space Jump so it's as easy as breathing.
