I've gotten lazy about maxing near 2200 on my UIM and this series is very motivating to not slack ngl, bet many others are motivated thanks to your efforts too!
Congratz mate I was also rushing to get my quest cape done on my UIM before DT2 release I managed to get it done 5 days prior. Cool to know me and you were doing it together. gzgz
also first try seren - stackable cave nightshades makes a huge difference but even so, getting the hp within range and timing it right that many times in a row can easily go wrong
The main highlight of the mode is the fact that you're forced to engage with content that you'd never engage otherwise. For example, no one does barrows to get barrows gear that they want to wear... Except ironman. This logic more or less happens for most equipment in the game. There will be times where you miss the GE though. Also some of the grinds can be pretty insane. Like for crafting, I didn't have money on my ironman. I did some expirementation and learning so the plan did change a little but the end result was... Soda Ash 1-Kill lobsters for giant seaweed spores. 2-Grow Giant Seaweed 3-Cook Giant Seaweed into Soda Ash Buckets of Sand 1-Buy thousands of noted buckets. 2-Mine sandstone 3-Grind sandstone 4-Get the sand from the grinder (using your buckets from before). Make Molten Glass. I used Port Phasmatys atm. Make unpowered orbs (there are faster crafting xp options but there is a reason for this). Now I want to charge the orbs and i had something like 14 or 24 thousand orbs. (This grind was repeated 2 or 3 times). At this point I did not have song of the elves done. My options for buying cosmic runes was wildy rune shop and a single other place. Both sucked. I tried wildy rune shop, lots of competition. So, how do I get thousands of cosmic runes? 1-Temple trekking, the morytania minigame where you escort people to and from burgh-de-rott. The rewards can get you pure essence, and thousands of pure essence. It did not take that long to get all of the pure essence I needed. 2-Start at Zanaris bank. Use graceful, runecrafting pouches and etc. Run I think it was south east, to the cosmic altar. Use the highest level agility shortcut. 3-Rinse and repeat for hours. Okay, like 30K to 50K cosmic runes later. From there, I had to choose a elemental obelisk. I didn't want to bother with wildy so I chose the second higher xp obelisk - Fire. So... Level up smithing so I can make mith grapples. Made like 100 or 200 of them. So yea, runes/staves to power fire orbs. A single antipoison. Anti-dragon shield, crossbow for the grapples, always hold 2 mith grapples, 1 equipped the other in inventory. 1-Start in Catherby bank 2-Get unpowered orbs 3-Run east, grapple over mountain to taverly 4-Taverly dungeon, use the jump over spike agility shortcut, I think it was 80 or 85 agility level requirement. (I leveled agility pretty high early on in the account) 5-Run past poison spiders, monks, and black dragons. 6-AFK power your fire orbs. 7-Run past dragons to nearby ladder (to water obelisk). 8-Grapple from water obelisk island to catherby. 9-Run to Catherby bank. Rinse repeat. I forget if I was using stamina potions or not. I did have graceful with high agility and run would recharge when charging the orbs. Alright I have charged orbs. What now. Lunar Isle or Yanille magic shop. Buy battlestaves and nature runes. BTW, it's 5 battlestaves per world. So, you dont have money. Half an hour of world hopping and you have like 100 battlestaves. Bankstand, make your fire battlestaves. High alch fire battlestaves. Buy more battlestaves. An hour later, you have 250 battlestaves. Make your fire battlestaves. High alch fire battlestaves. Buy more battlestaves. 2 hours later, you have like 700 battlestaves. Make your fire battlestaves. High alch fire battlestaves. Buy more battlestaves. K, I dont remember the exact exponential growth of my money and how long it took to spend my entire cash stack on battlestaves. It's been a while. But it was exponential growth lol. The end result, didn't pay attention to the farming xp or combat xp. I did end up with 90 crafting and 90 magic. As well I think it was 30M gp. Before I started I think I had less than a million. My money maker before that was agility pyramid.
I feel the grind for the quest cape, I rushed all the quests in my Ironman and got the cape the day before DT2, having done DT2 on my main I’m glad I didn’t wait for my iron because that shit sucked
Love the series! The guide is great too! One small thing, you might want to reword the wintertodt section on what herbs/seeds to bag. when it said "keep all herbs and all seeds up to avantoe, except guam/marrentill/tarromin", i thought i was supposed to just drop the guam/marrentill/tarromin herbs as well lol. I'll just have to kill some more Chaos Druids I guess
Heyy, I'm not the only one who really likes Song of the Elves quest too and thinks it as their favorite, I personally just really like the lore aspects of the quest and the boss fights are fair but can be still a bit of a challenge depending on your gear.. DT2 bosses sure were interesting, but bit too much for my personal liking when it comes to "just quest boss" Also the reward from SotE is by far the best one in the entire game so far, unlocking priff is MASSIVE, especially for UIMs. Dragon Slayer 2 being close second as my favorite quest
the elf quest line is the best of OSRS. Underground pass and mourning ends part 2 both SUPER SUCKS when you do them the first time but then you look back fondly at them
Ima elf series enjoyed as well 😅 even underground pass and mep2, I feel like they're some of few places in the game where I still get that exploration feeling.
agreed, i think making the diary step "speak to the wise old man with 275 QP" would be a nice fix. with sailing and varlamore we probs get another 10 quests
wow this is insane ! gj on this. I miss having quest cape too at the moment, since waiting for runelite quest helper, and damn I realize how often I use it. Especially for fishing karambwans. Wish they would just set a last quest for quest cape at some point, or just change the requirement for the diary.
Did you create an updated max guide for regular accounts as well? My maxed account was hijacked and added to a jagex account yesterday. Looking to get back into it the right way

Never gave much thought to the og uim's complaining about how ez things are now. Its kinda stupid that you're able to buy gold ore from another account.
couple OG stuff for uim : only possible to store ENTIRE outfits. This means you take out your proselyte and do not want the helm tough luck you have to keep it in inventory. This made getting stuff like the rogue outfit such a pain. and heck upgrading to next tier required you to take out EVERYTHING INSIDE. Imagine DC with all your shit on the ground before you upgraded. Also back then when you died you kept untradeables and zulrah was not out so not temporary death storage. So wanna go to entrana? Table untradeable and if you cant well tough luck. No easy money storage you had to quest for NMZ no last man stading. Rune pouch was pvp only you could not get it from Slayer masters if I recall correctly. Runecrafting man... you had to grind banshees or skeletal wyverns to get the essence, there was no zeah library or GoTR to help you out. My heart goes to the first couple uims that maxxed RC before zeah came out. Same stuff about guardy and his pest control grind... Lady Deja vu and 99 smithing etc. People doing firemaking on uim before Wintertodt came out. Cooking without the mess hall, construction without mahogany homes etc. Grats to Ironwyn for getting the first quest cape on uim. When the mode came out it was super cool you saw people doing all kind of crazy slash weird shit like the guy who trained fletching and made cash exclusively from cutting logs, fletching them into bows and selling them to the store while the meta was broad arrows. Back then you had very few methods for cash, people did thieving, ham store rooms, slayer etc. Nowadays you can just rush gauntlet or rush runecrafting to get pile of money, the meta changed completely.
@@jeanbob1481 Was temple trekking not an option for pure essence? Easily get thousands of pure essence in a relative short amount of time. I'm pretty sure it was available, though not sure if there were things that shot the viability for UIM.
if I recall correctly you could not choose your reward at the time. It would have been good for uim in all kinds of ways but it looks to be a really memey method. Like sure best way to get bow strings but who cares you can just get mad cash and do broad arrows. Best way to get Silver but who cares glassblowing is better. I remember people training smithing through that one wheel in mother mine that one was funny. I know at the time people did banshees and wyverns for noted essence, trekking would have been pretty good now that I think about it. RC sucked for uim all the way until the library came out. Now that GoTR is out this skill is easy@@tylerbreau4544

That ds2 fight was nuts, absolutely insane episode
MANNNNN that Quest is brutal!!!!1 I wish I snagged my Quest cape before hand because now FML
Uses correct timing, phoenix necklaces, prayer pots, nightshades in boss fight -> It's basically a free kill!
yup, timing was very forgiving too on the pneck proc. still scary tho as a mistake would mean insta death and like 20mins lost to regear
love the MHW background music, great episode
loving the videos as always. keep it up!
great episode , now i finally understood why it was needed to get the qpc as soon as possible haha
you got some serious runescape knowledge lol

Doesn't following a guide for a new UIM completely ruin the point of the whole gamemode? I guess not if you just play the game to see numbers go up.
Point of the gamemode IS to plan ahead imo
whats the point of playing uim if you just death bank? kinda defeats the purpose?
This is a speedrun, which means exploiting every rule possible. Though I agree it would be really cool if Jagex released an ultimate hardcore ironman mode
Kinda part of the gamemode, but I can see what you mean. I was thinking the same thing at first. Still a very fun gamemode
Hardcore uim would be so cool, too bad jagex doesn't want to make such a niche gamemode even though it'd be so easy to implement
