Saw something I meant to bring up, "if it's A-N-A-S, why does he attack twice in a row?" If Olm's last action was to turn then a null turns INTO an attack. So when he attacks twice you are seeing the N-A part of A-N-A-S. This is something I didn't understand for a long time and threw me off hard for 100s of KC.
This is a guide I needed so long ago. I still need to solo but the explanation of how his head turns is so so so helpful for duo and nobody makes duo guides lol. Lots of self learning
@@alexwhite1940 duos are like trios but you need to attack the same hands so one camps melee side and mages with skipper until mage hand is dead then both jumpnon melee hand until 3rd phase then you get melee hand low then start on mage hand. When head phase starts melee camper stays on his side and skipper runs like runner turning olm head to spread the damage taken.
The Null turns into an Auto? Or the turn acts as the null? So he'll attack 3 times total before the special? This has also been a question I haven't been able to answer for almost 1000 kc...
does olm attack twice if you turn his head during head phase? i havent paid enough attention to whether this changes when the special gets removed from his cycle.
Have you tried conjoining your plethora of abilities to perform unique maneuvering in order to manipulate the dragons sire boss into a health deficit? Another good tip is to get olms hp to 0 while simultaneously keeping your own hp above 0.

I've done a million CoX kc but liking this video early simply because of how clear your initial instructions were. You started in the right spot. Lots of guides have their order of instructions all messed up. You explain from *many* perspectives. Good all-round guide.
this is an excellent guide on solo cox, great vid man. Done about 750 solo cox and this is such a good resource on learning not only the rooms but olm specifically. Only thing I would add is a good reference to know when to attack is my Olm bobbing his head up and down - you can see this at 51:19 and 51:40 for the 2 different types. As the head moves up or down, that's when you click the mage hand to mage so that you're always in cycle; for meleeing, it bobs and then attacks - that was how I learned to be in cycle properly and be prepared for attacks. great vid!
Going to try the round 2 set up, got the day off tomorrow, just got the DWH. Never done COX but with this guide I feel like I got it. Thank you Gnomonkey!
As someone who had never done raids before because of struggles to find a team, I'm extremely grateful for your easy solo ToA guide and now this CoX guide. I can't wait to see the easy solo ToB guide next and complete all three raids! (Jokes aside thanks a lot for this and looking forward to trying the raids on my iron for the first time soon hopefully)

I remember a portion of the community turning on you after your video on end game content a while back but your point was we need more people capable of doing that content so Jagex can develop more of it and you do a great job of explaining things properly in these guides to help players achieve that. Top tier videos mate, looking forward to more!
That video was a massive L. Nothing will change that. Same way these beginner/first time guides are massive W's. So much better than the boring, methodical "copy/paste" from the wiki guides you often see for beginner guides
That video was a massive win. It taught me who were not only rats and non supporters in my community circle but it got me into contact with wonderful jmods like Goblin and Nox who heard value my opinion and outlook on things. Which led to one of the greatest updates, CoX QoL changes. I was able to send tons of feedback and most everything I wanted was fixed. I'll never regret making that video.
These budget first run guides are amazing, you are able to address so many of the little fears and doubts about pvm I have, and show that it is all possible with little or no experience. The TOA 300 Guide got me into checking GearScape and this CoX one has reassured me that I can get into solo raids with what I have and things like CG are not mandatory before I start. Keep up the amazing content and best of luck with everything.
I’m 34 and now getting back into osrs after playing as a child. I appreciate your content :) all I wanna do is learn bossing and pvm. Almost have all my combat stats 80+ and 87 range. So hooked

Once you've actually got a bit of time in the inferno the guide is so much more relevant and your start tile to corner trap solves so many issues just have to know what to do and ty for lightbearer melee killer ring tech
Thank you for all of the mid-game guides, Gnomonkey. This is the kind of stuff that will reach a much bigger audience within the community and help people get into raiding/bossing! :D
Awesome guide thanks man. I had 0 KC and despite recommendations to learn as a team I went for it solo and with 25 kc I just got my first deathless solo olm
for required items you can make an overlay via 'CoX Scouter External' plugin using the 'Recommended items' list, e.g. [guardians, crystal pickaxe],[mystics, salve amulet(ei)],[theiving, lockpick],[muttadile, zamorak godsword, ice barrage] that'll make it so that you don't have to remember which items you need, and you can customize the list using the items you own

Damn this gives me so much confidence to learn solo chambers. I got 90 herblore for solo chambers but have no idea what I’m doing. Currently 99 magic prayer range and hp. Have bowfa, full virtus and sang, lots of late game gear. Time to learn 🎉
im a bit confused about A.N.A.S. it seems like he wasnt following that pattern at some points in p1/p2, like him doing two regular attacks in a row etc. why does that happen? is the acronym only like a general reference but he doesn’t have to follow it all the time?
You’d have to timestamp the exact times it happened for me to confirm for sure, but if you splash you will take extra hits because he may not turn his head properly if you don’t hit. As long as you maintain the cycle you will continue to skip specials and can maintain 4:1.
your olm explanation is stellar. ive benn trying to teach some clannies cox, but from now on ill just refer them to this vid. your videos for babies are the best. even as a non baby i find it helpful or some insights ngl

I love all of your videos they're extremely informative I know you explained it on how olm works but do you think you could make a in depth guide on how to do 3:0 and 4:1 you're good at explaining how it works i think it would be valuable to the community whos learning how to solo olm from going in from teams
Do you happen to know what plugin you're using that gives you fake xp drops for hits that are 0? Example at 16:30 . Been looking for something like that forever.
The friend I sent the lv 300 ToA guide to last week told me he was watching this video after you posted it. The development arc is in full effect, also +1 viewer EZ
Is there any 3:1 setup that lets Noxious Halberd be used for Olm Hand? Haven't seen anyone cover it. Not sure if that is because it is impossible, or just it being so recent.
You could use the exact same 3:1 method that is used for scythe or fang, but the dps is substantially worse than using a lance or even a fang. The 3:1 method is only worth doing if you have a scythe otherwise stick to 4:1 with 4 tic weapons.
for normal solo chambers, berserker would give 3 max hits to scythe. do you think lb would be more valuable since more hammers each phase or would it be best to use berserker?
I got spooned a shadow, and i want to learn solo olm, should i learn with trident to get used to getting into cycle and all that before learning shadow method? or just jump straight into learning shadow method even though it seems to be more complicated?
For someone who has done just under 300 Toas and has the second budget setup (full bowfa and hasta). What rooms would a starter learner be looking out for?
I would avoid Tekton rooms unless you have hammer. You can do Vespula/Vasa but Vespula will be a learning curve. Skip the usual Vanguards and crappy puzzles like Ice Demon
I’ve known that you were a PVM God and I’ve never really watched you before but with this video you have me hooked. I’ve been wanting to learn Cox and I can never find a team to teach me. I’m in WDR but sadly on their teaching days, I’m always at work thank you for the video you explained. A good enough for me to be confident in trying, I do have one question though should I just go to Cox and wing it and learn it by myself or should I try to find a team to teach me?
Why fury over torture? I was planning to grind for tort and bowfa before starting cox because sand makes it easy to get. Is the defense on fury really that good?
Does having 90 herb change anything about the rooms you'd prefer to see or how you prep? Fantastic guide by the way, just what I've been looking for to start learning CoX
Im happy you mentioned DWH being required because going through my solos i really felt like it was. Tektok especially but even just melee hand. It makes the kills soooooo much better
Should also be able to do no-damage head phase right? Just kiting from side to side. Lot slower DPS but safer.. And you can camp front row right next to Olm to avoid a good amount of falling rocks.
Don't use fang, it is 5t weapon and you can't 4:1 with it. Rapier is better than whip and 4t, also good for Vasa. You can bring DHCB for Olm head, but that's the only place it out DPS' BOFA. DHL + Bofa is HUGE. Lance is basically BIS. Scythe only beats it in giga max by like 2% with the best of the best gameplay.
@@GnomonkeyRS if they can learn the 4:1 4 tick method well, then fang using the 5t 3:1 method (accounting for 15/16ths dps) would be an upgrade over zhasta and tent whip on 1 hammer, tent beats it with 2 hammers. The benefit is that fang is also way better than both at tekton and zhasta at vasa (meaning you save an inventory slot). It can be harder to recognize where you are in the cycle and how many ticks to stall left of center, so not ideal as a learner, but still something to keep in mind when moving beyond basic strats. All that said, I genuinely don't think it's worth for an iron to do solo chambers w/out lance unless you're doing some kinda pvm rush with advanced strats. And yeah swapping to dhcb is only really worth when you have shadow and masori, because you don't have any good alternatives for vespula, vasa, shamans, etc. Bowfa just too good.
whats that plugin that is counting the numbers over your head? im assuming thats ticks but are you using that to player flick or is there another purpose for it?
Visual Metronome. It lets me know for speedruns what tick to enter certain rooms, like Tekton for an instant anvil pull off, or crab room to have the ball spawn at a certain cycle. There is also Weapon Attack Timer which shows the tick cooldown of your weapon, I know a lot of people really like that one as well.
No, you need to attack on specific ticks and turn on specific ticks or you can't get into cycle. You don't run mid for specials, that's not how the "ANUS" cycle works
@ thanks, guess I’ll get one of those then! Also would it be stupid idea to camp faceguard the whole time? I’m running blue moon top and bottom, DHL (firecape, barrows gloves, fury, ddef), trident (occult, bracelet, ma2 cape) and crystal top + bottom + bowfa (anguish + assembler) so no crystal helm. Trying to minimize switches and maximise supplies for now. Gave this a shot, had hard time figuring out if I’m in the cycle or just tick ahead lol, Also staying tick perfect for prolonged times is quite a lot for my noobish self!
I haven't watched the video fully yet so I don't know if you talk about it. If I have a shadow, do I bring that and learn a different method for mage skipping while learning solos or do I stick to a 4-tick mage weapon like trident or sang?
It's called World Scything and its very advanced and even something I have troubles with. It's like 2% better than Lance. Just get a lance and learn with that.
One thing you forgot to mention when stacking up all the reasons Dragon Hunter Wand is garbo is that it's also 5 tick, so you have to learn the comparably more difficult shadow method instead of super easy trident method, all in the name of less DPS. I don't know what Jagex was even trying to do with this weapon.
Saw something I meant to bring up, "if it's A-N-A-S, why does he attack twice in a row?" If Olm's last action was to turn then a null turns INTO an attack.
Would you consider BGS good enough or just suck it up and grind the DWH?
BGS will never land. You want hammer.
I haven't watched the video fully yet so I don't know if you talk about it. If I have a shadow, do I bring that and learn a different method for mage skipping while learning solos or do I stick to a 4-tick mage weapon like trident or sang?
Correct, if you have a Shadow you would learn the Shadow method which I explain in my older guides.
@@GnomonkeyRS Alright thanks boss.
What's the plugin that shows the tile your mouse is hovering?
Tile indicators iirc
@@GnomonkeyRS Thanks beast 👍
Is hammer helpful even if I have DHL?
Extremely
I still come back to solve those pesky crabs
I love you for this!!!!!!
What is that music in the background at the start of the video
It's all Hollow Knight ost
Inferno, toa, cox… i might actually be a decent iron after these vids 😂
what is de pluging you use by olm what say what sickel he is in
CoX Additions
Very based choice of music
If I have saeldor, hasta and bonkers, what should I bring
Saeldor will be your olm weapon
Yup salad blade is fine. Just not good for Tekton
Are you gonna make a hcgim solo chambers guide or do i just watch sae bae for that
Definitely watch Saeder for that :)
is it possible to do cox with range and mage
only?
No
I have scythe, no DHL. Is there a 5 tick method for melee hand?
It's called World Scything and its very advanced and even something I have troubles with. It's like 2% better than Lance. Just get a lance and learn with that.
Does Mutta do mage attacks in sets of 3, or just minimum of 3? Like if you get a 4th, does that mean she's definitely doing 6?
Minimum 3
Can bgs be used instead of dhammer
No, everything here has VERY high slash defense and defense in general. You really want a hammer.
Hollow Knight goes BRRRRRRRRRRRRR
whats the percentage overhead npc plugin
Hp Monster Percentage
@@GnomonkeyRS thank you
Would huey hide have any place in COX?
No, its trash
As a youtube chatter...we deserve that at the end ngl.
I’d love to see a solo guide for olm with a shadow and how it compares to trident
I have one already :)
@@GnomonkeyRS I’ll check it out thank you ❤️
How are you so good at explaining things, i know you are really good at the content but still
great guide but i'm addicted to passenger princess (melee hand) role in duos :3
can i raid cox with full rune?
can you? sure. should you? nah.
"to do olm properly you need a 4 tick weapon" 🤤
