Godlike talent. In his prime, his voice could do anything. Throw in his brilliant bass-playing, writing, etc., and you have one of the elite, all-time greats.
I was lucky enough to see him live two years ago, in las vegas. AMAZING three hour performence with a one hour sound check. still sings like he's in his 30s. still has that same smile as well. He lifted my happyness and thats for sure.
My first concert was Wings Over America in '76 - 16 yo and I was actually in the same building as Paul McCartney! Then I took my son to the Flowers In The DIrt tour in '91 for his first concert experience. Thank you Macca.
Amazing vocal performance, near effortless switches between pristine clean tones and gnarly grittiness. Oh Darling! is another vocal tour-de-force from Paul. Would be awesome to hear your analysis on that one!
McCartney’s vocal on the live (radio) version of Maybe I’m Amazed is even more epic. Then there’s Oh Darling from Abby Road. THAT vocal is unparalleled
THE BEST James Bond theme ever! The song really captured the theme of the movie. The fact that McCartney even put that Reggae-ish break in the song was brilliant since part of the movie took place in the Caribbean. The other string breakdown also captures the “The love interest” of Bond as well. So many Brilliant layers on this one. I also think Duran Duran’s “View to a Kill” is one of the top Bond themes…probably second to this one.
He is an extremely diversified vocalist. He can sing so many different ways, so many different styles. Then there's the writing. So, so talented! His Little Richard "Long Tall Sally" live vocal blew me away.
Hey Ken! Epic-yes. GOAT? Maybe. Paul is phenomenal in every aspect of musicianship. Writer, singer, player, showman. Paul has it all. One of those artists that can wrap an audience around his finger. Just stunning in concert! Paul is the man. Yea, yea, yea!!!😎
I love Paul McCartney with wings and the Beatles he was my favorite out of the Beatles thought he was the best singer in the band in my opinion love his style his voice a great entertainer love to hear him sing live and let die and simply having a wonderful Christmastime he nails those Paul was different and unique which I loved so yea Paul McCartney is a good singer great live love him Ken 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
That was so cool Ken. I'm one of the biggest McCartney fans walking the planet. I have boxes and boxes and boxes of McCartney CDs from the beginning to 2021 alternate takes live shows you name it. Really enjoyed the video.
I saw Paul at Glastonbury 2004 and he sung for 2 hours including tracks like Helter Skelter and other Beatles numbers, and this - amongst his other solo hits. Very impressive vocally to sing at this level for so many years 😁
I saw Paul a couple of years ago and he not only still has the pipes, his stamina to do the 3 hour show was pretty great, too. My son took me so that was even better. There's very few songs that come close to 60s and 70s.
Mr. Ken I like how you just got lost in the wonderful creativity of this song and the spirit of Paul singing… No talking about the distortion on Sir Paul’s crazy ‘heeeeeeeell’ high note, etc.… Just taking time to be a true believer. 🤘 thank you.
Paul's live version of this was my favorite for sure. Best Superbowl halftime show ever in my opinion. I'm not a singer but play a couple instruments and love music and love watching these isolated vocals a lot. 🙂
I remember seeing McCartney for the first time live... Even in his older age he still knows how to put on a show! Id love to see an analysis of the vanilla fudge or soul survivors. I think thatd be so cool.
Just 12 days ago saw Sir Paul perform that LIVE and it was incredible, not just the sound and his vocals, but there were shooting flames, explosions and fireworks added so it was a visual spectacular as well. Such a great composition.
I first became familiar with Live And Let Die when I hear G'NR's version, but I prefer Paul's version over the former because of the orchestration and George Martin's one of a kind production work. Another top notch vocal analysis!!!
Hi! I just wanted to tell everyone that Ken's techniques really work and his course is worth buying. I've been taking his free lessons for 3 months now and I've improved a LOT. I'm only 13, mind you. He really helped me get over the age factor in singing and I found my voice. I encourage you to find your own. I've recently gotten How to Sing Better Than Anyone Else 3.0 and I've been loving it. So keep going! It's worth it, I promise. Thanks Ken!
The case of the death and replacement of Paul McCartney, in 1966, is much larger, and more complex, than the murder of Sharon Tate at the hands of the cult "The Family." This case is even more complex than the case of Robert Johnson and his "pact with Papa Legba." Paul McCartney was assassinated in 1966. Paul didn't die in an accident, he was assasinated. The correct interpretation of the original video clip "I am the walrus" reveals everything. The last scene of the original video is a demonic procession of witches leading the walrus (Paul) to the sacrifice (the scene is a metaphorical representation of what happened to Paul). He has the amazing ability to make his voice sound different for different songs. Contrast the rock tracks to the soulful ballads like Blackbird, and the cool thing he does with his voice on Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five. A true maestro, he uses his voice like an instrument.
Ken, Paul McCartney Live and let die is an amazing movie sound track, mash up of beautiful melodies and singing. Then the epic change into crazyness and it's got to be up there with one of the best movie sound tracks of all time!!
Back in 76 when Paul McCartney and Wings opened up their US tour it was here in Fort Worth, Texas. They were here in town, later found out, for weeks rehearsing the show! The opening night was spectacular! Paul's voice was pristine and clear. Unlike in the movie and soundtrack where he had been overusing his voice, a little hoarseness in his vocals, the Fort Worth show has absolutely no wear or tear in his vocals! His was rested, no screaming or overuse from playing tour dates. In fact, I always thought that it should have been "Wings Over Fort Worth" instead of America in the movie and LP. I actually got a really good quality audience recording of this complete concert, and it's good recording, and my observations still hold as true, his vocals on that opening night were studio quality! I remember listing to album and movie and was so disappointed, I thought to myself, what happened to his voice, it's trashed compared to that first night. I feel fortunate that I was witness to the the best night of the tour.
Paul is difinitively in the Top 5 of the best Songwriters of all time...at least among The Beatles-Members... Honestly, this piece of art is outstanding. Nice to see you being so amazed about the song...wish you had covered more details about the singing itself. Did you mind of doing an Alice-Cooper-Analaysis?
Epic, indeed. And also hear it live it's one of the greatest experiences in life!! I'm a Beatles, Paul Mc. Cartney, James Bond fan, so I've always loved this song, in fact knowing the GNR did a cover was a surprise, then I heard it and was like "Mñeh!", also their live perfomance lacks something. Sir Paul Mc. Cartney rules!!
I love both versions, Paul's and the Guns N Roses' one. Axl always acknowledges on stage that it is a Paul and Linda McCartney song. He is a big fan of McCartney. And Axl always mentions Paul McCartney as singers who are better than him. Axl does not consider himself a great singer, but I think he is.
@@olderendirt - that would be nuts… Anybody who doesn’t know that it’s McCartney song probably doesn’t even know who McCartney is… Or Led Zeppelin, or Bob Dylan…
A monumental Paul McCartney track. Kudos also to George Martin for his production. I consider McCartney’s peak as a vocalist to be in the late 70’s, around the time of Back To The Egg. Great vocalist, musician, song writer…a triple threat.
Wow Ken I've not seen you so enthusiastic about a song before. I agree. Paul has one tge best voices ever put to tape. As much as I love Steve Marriot, without Paul and John, would there have been anyone else
Oh wow! I graduated hs in 1976 & college in 1980. And you're right...this is part of the soundtrack of my life. As I've mentioned before, I'm a diehard Kansas fan. To me, there's nothing better than their first 8 albums, including their double live Two for the Show. I am so blessed to have seen them many times in the 70s when Kerry Livgren was writing & orchestrating their epic progressive works. If you ever figure out a way to go back to the 70s, please take me with you. Music, for the most part, in my opinion, has gone downhill since then.
Thanks Ken for another great insight 👍This song is simply genius ;truly great- and original : can I hear a glockenspiel in the mix ?! And that reggae break: I remember Paul saying that was Linda's idea - reggae was one of her favourite musical genres. But my favourite part of the song ? The chord at the very end - so full of suspense , tension ,expectation and danger - elements that sum up James Bond himself...
This is definitely one of my favorite songs... Guns and roses covered it and it was outstanding...this song changed how I would listen to music....from one to ten this was a ten

I was fortunate enough to be present for the big concert at Blockbuster amphitheater in Charlotte in '93. The one thing that actually stuck with me was the fact Linda's mike was up for the first part of the first tune. It shortly disappeared from the mix! Of course the show was great. I recorded it on VHS and got to watch it again when I got home.
Just the other day, and I can’t remember why as a song must have popped in my head, I was wondering if you were ever going to do a Wings song. I was 9 or 10 years old and saw the LP soundtrack in a cutout bin for about $2 and bought it. It was a year or 2 after the movie release. One of the first albums I ever bought. I played this song and the Bond theme a bazillion times. It was truly EPIC! Thanks Ken.
