Hey all, I feel bad that my immediate reaction seeing the trailer home was to laugh - I wasn't laughing at the home itself but I was more so surprised to see it included as regional architecture for the US. It's never my intent to belittle anything that shows up in my GeoGuessr games, and I just want to make that clear.
You shouldn't even worry about that, anyone whoever interpreted the laugh as belittling in any shape or form clearly had malice intentions towards you to begin with.
The Kharkiv round was definitely not a typical house you'd see around there, that area usually looks more like southern russian architecture. The western Ukraine one is a solid example for that part of the country though.
11:20 yes that house with the basement as you described is called a raised ranch or split level! And it is indeed more common in northern areas like the Midwest and parts of New England, and was very popular in the 60s and 70s!
6:45 Toughie, only thing that made me think Ghana was the car/taxi to the right that had multicolour panelling. Was yelling "Rwanda!!" at my screen haha, great vid CG :)
The type of upper-Midwest home you described with the upper level elevated a bit and brick on the bottom is called a "split-level" home -- at least where I'm from. Usually, when you first walk in the front door, there's a split with two sets of stairs: one that takes you into a garage or basement -- usually furnished (not like a utility basement) -- and another that goes up into a living area. I'm sure it varies, but all of the ones I've seen in Ohio are basically like that.
The Estonia round was kinda nostalgic to me because that house looks a lot like Bungalow Houses you see in Bungalow Parks in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
16:17 - This one I knew within the first second was Thailand. Those windows are VERY distinctive, and when I lived in Thailand, I lived in a house just like this.
I knew that 2:30 round was not Colo, hard to explain why, I was born and raised there and something didn't click. It had components that if taken separately would fit (plants, colors, fences) but as a whole it was off. I thought it was either Peru or Arg, so I failed too Please do more of these, I wish the map creators would crop the pics to remove any meta
Yo what is the deal with that double ukraine? I get so many doubles i feel like it cant possibly be random. And i get christmas island and midway atoll so many times in Duels. Tbh i actually skew my guesses towards doubles if im not sure, and its not a terrible strategy

i only got that vibe when you said something
Anyone who watches for more than 30 seconds can tell you're an awesome, positive and a genuinely good person! This pinned comment just proves this!
Didn’t get the impression, that you meant it belittling when I watched the video. But thanks for clarifying it!

5:59 I think they put up fences to keep out intruders in every country, not just ZA. It's pretty old technology. 😆
Jasp you know what I mean lmfao

12:06 that boat has a finnish registry number on it, one letter followed by usually 5 numbers, always the same font. Its kinda useless info though lol
I love playing houseguessr to see which american suburb i'm in 😍 (they all look the same)
architecture is always gonna be a tough one for me, well played!
14:32 The car has a small frontplate so it has to be Switzerland.
We had similar thought processes in many rounds 😂 It is quite difficult unless it's something super specific like e.g. the Netherlands or Greek Aegean
Very cool video idea 👍
I agree Matt F
The sun was in the north on the ”Columbia” round.
Love this video idea

how do you learn American regional architecture, i can't find any docs on it
I’m working on one now! I can send once I am done :)
