- Join the crew on our final large project of the 2022 concrete season. We still have a handful of jobs but none as big as this one. The morning pour went well but tempers were flying during the afternoon pour. Enjoy!

Don’t get too mad at the new driver. Everyone haves to start somewhere. I understand the frustration, I do structural concrete and box culverts. Remember, you were once new too. It’s always easy to talk down and berate someone, it’s harder for a man to put his feet in his shoes and offer understanding and try to uplift his spirit. Those new drivers also learn from YOU too.
I agree on this, they are always complaining about the new drivers but they were there at some point when they don’t know anything..

I disagree. Ryan and the crew shouldn't have to suffer because they sent a driver out on his own who is CLEARLY not properly trained. I understand if he was just slow or whatever but it was just an overall disaster. He should not be able to go out on his own yet.

yes but to be fair that guy was like really brand new, he should have another guy with him from the company to help, or the company should have him more trained before they send him out by himself. Not saying its his fault but the companies fault.
As a readymix driver for 27 years, I kind of felt bad for the rookie. I remember a few of those days myself. Your new, unsure and the contractors are frustrated. 4 or 5 different guys yelling makes it worse. But if he sticks it out, it wont be long before contractors are happy to see him on the job. At least that's the way it was for me. Anyway, I'm retired as of Dec. 2nd. A little scary but it's time to move on. Love your channel Ryan. @SAM SAM Exactly what I was thinking. I know they're frustrated, but it's contagious for the crew to pile on the driver. That's where Ryan should have taken over and directed him, or delegated one person to direct.

This is exaclty why I've directed myself just now to @Ryan. We ALL do start somewhere. Even changing Diapers of our baby. We all have been father or mothers (for the females) for the 1st time once. When we get the 2nd child, that's like 1,2 DONE! Same when we cooking a new recipe, we'd be watching the Recipe like 10x before we can finish. It touched me a lot the way how Ryan and Bugs were behaving. I don't care I get censored, cause been getting censorship from Facebook for so long for being a 'Conspiracy Theorist" on the Vaccine. I'm used to it. But won't change my opinion nor the person whom this has been directed towards. Only way is that THEY self change it. They could say, let me guide you... let the workers do the Job... jump on the truck like he used to do... Hey let me Guide you Brother.. ok. Lif your shoot.. ok.. go left... right.. lower it.. keep it this height and carefully swing it left , right, left... when see he's doing okay.. ok. Jump and go help the workers. I'd have done that. THis is being a Good samarithan. On top he said.. like it's not his duty/ job to train the Rookie. I expect better than that for someone like Ryan. The positive attitude also keeps people watching, not only pouring Concrete. I hope Ryan reads this, too and do something about it next time.
As a mixer driver I Love the Channel and all the videos .I can also understand the love/hate relationship between the customer and drivers and the lack of patients on a job site ,especially over years and years of the same stuff . BUT I can tell you driving a mixer for the 1st few months especially when they just throw you out there as a rookie IS SUPER STRESSFUL . Cut em a little slack !

I love how the guys treat your Mom. My Mom passed when I was 20, and it broke something inside of me. Best Mom Monday's is a hug I never expected.
I feel you Bill, it leaves an emptiness deep inside. My Mother was the most loving unselfish Woman to have ever taken a breath on this Planet, on the other hand my Father was as hard as nails, a truly frightening dangerous individual, if not for my Mother myself and my seven other Siblings would have all committed suicide before we each turned seven or eight. At age seven i was sitting on the back porch one morning before School arguing with one of my Sisters, next minute the back wire door slammed against the porch wall and i felt an excruciating pain in my coccyx, my father had kicked me with his steel capped work boot clear off the porch, through the air over several back steps, and i landed on the back footpath five feet below in the exact same seated position i was in atop the porch. I'm fifty eight now and it's been a struggle to just breathe for most of my life, there's a foreboding fearful feeling inside of me that's just never gone away!
I'm sorry for your untimely loss Bill. The Lord Jesus can mend all things. (you're probably already saved so you know this). In case you're not though, the Bible says in the book of Romans that If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord", and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
This won't bring you're loved ones back from the dead but it will revive you're spirit.

Being a mixer driver myself, kudos to you Ryan for apologizing to the last driver on behalf of everyone. I know what it’s like to be with the new guys on jobs where they’re not so much experienced, and customers/contractors get frustrated. Luckily for me, I picked up on it pretty fast so a lot of the contractors respected me when I was newer. But doing it now for awhile you get the rhythm down pretty quickly on flatwork jobs like this and you can make it very eassssyyyy for everyone. Much respect for you Ryan!! 💪🏼👍🏼
I'm sure the roles have also been reversed Tim, where an experienced mixer driver like yourself shows up on a pour with rookie concrete finishers, works both ways, right?
@@guydemers7607 yes you’re absolutely right. There are drivers that get upset when a contractor has little to no experience. It just makes everything hard still if you do get upset instead of guiding them off of your own experience and being able to get the job done in a timely matter. Like Ryan said in this video when the driver got lost, “concrete waits for nobody” which is 1000% true. If you’re on the job waiting for the customer to figure out what they’re doing, you’re both up a creek as the truck gets trashed from hardened concrete and the customer receives a bad product. As for the customer waiting on the driver, hard concrete and wet fresh concrete don’t mate together, does not finish well, and does not match each other for the final product.

I feel like the company left him to the lions letting him out that green. Surely have him shadowed for a while. Not really fair on the dude. It’s hella stress for everyone this way.

I don't think most people appreciate how much skill it takes to cut those long joints nice and straight like you do. I have been finishing for 30 years and I'm impressed with the way you do things. And it's cool the way you treat Daryl Jr. He is awesome and so are you.
Yeah I've never done concrete but my builder's eye can instantly see big long joints are NOT an easy thing to do 😅 I'm guessing it helps that Ryan is like 6' 4" or something

I like how people yell at someone that is just learning something new. They also get mad when they don’t have enough driver to deliver concrete. Ryan always so calm, more people need to be like that, doesn’t help yelling at him.
Yea always hate seeing people giving new guys a super hard time everyone gots to learn. Cool that Ryan isn’t loosing his top like some of his guys.
Love how Eric said it was easy but yet all the forms he set were wrong, he graded the patio wrong and he stepped in the patio border when it was wet. This job made me realize why his new job at the beginning of the season didn't work out. Ryan, you have way more patience than I. I'm sure he's a nice guy but late almost everyday, stopping for 30 minutes at the gas station everyday to use the bathroom, then treating everyday like his first day on the job. I bet he costs you more a season than Daryl the destroyer ever did. All the bonuses, free lunches and string pulling you did to get him concrete during the shortage you'd think he'd come in early and stay late to make sure everything is perfect. You truly are a understanding and patient boss. If it were me, he'd get the belt right out the front door.

It is hard when you get someone new and he struggles like that driver, but no one ever gets experienced without first doing the job and learning. Patience is key in a situation like that. He has to learn somehow. You did great EASY MONEY....

The things I would do to live up there and work on this crew, between the Bossman Ryan, and the workers like Bugs, Mike, and Eric. You can't ask for better guys! Kudos to Mike for helpin the new driver out while everyone else was just yelling at him. It’s not Ryan’s job to pay for training the truck drivers but that was the hand y’all were dealt and whining and yellin doesn’t help the mud go down any easier.

The best thing to do is pause and tell the driver to slow down. Everyone yelling at him doesn't help. Ryan, you should take charge of your work sight. You were feeding everyones anger towards the driver. You have the power to control the emotions

I appreciate your attention to detail on the elevation of the basement window ring. I've noticed it before with you guys on water and gas caps in the middle of driveway. Pet peave of mine. Drives my ocd into overload when they are crooked or low!! Hahahaha
I know this was probably one of the most frustrating drivers of the season, but it was nice to see for me to really appreciate how fluid a good driver makes this look. Even though the pouring of the concrete is a small part of the job I now understand how important it is to have someone who knows what theyre doing. It's utter choas without these good drivers!!!

It's crazy how a new truck driver can make that job 3 times hard when you got a easy pour I'm a concrete guy in a shut guy in the best thing to do is help the new concrete driver out if you scream at him is no good he will get nervous in mess everything out all you have to do a patient in try to get the work out like Bryan did saludos amigo

I always get mixed emotions about new people/drivers. It's incredibly frustrating when something isn't being done properly, but I also have to remind myself I was once there, and have had to train many people on equipment. I know as frustrated as y'all were, I bet that driver was about as anxious as someone can get lol.

You saw only a small portion of a whole truck being unloaded. Obviously the truck driver was an amateur the whole time. But also obviously the crew wouldn't have been on him that whole time either.
It's quite normal to get called out in the trade game. Especially when you don't know what you're doing.
Yes there is two ways to handle this. And yes if they maybe a little less agrssive and help him through it may be goes smoother. But it's not victory's job to train and help. What ever he did there where straight water came pouring out that would mess a job up. If that happened right at the end of the pour. No where to pull that water to and possibly run short for last tiny corner.
I think the whole crew is a bit tired and winter is looming. As well as they get along. It's not all perfect. And I think some frustrations with each other come out at a driver.
During the pour a good driver makes life so easy and a bad driver can ruin a job. Like Ryan said. If it was hot they would have Lost the concrete potentially.
I think they could have been a bit easier on the guy. But I think that was there and edit only showed the frustration side. All they drivers were once new. But they need to come prepared. This guy wasn't ready to be on his own. And Ryan and the guys had to suffer with it.
@@ryanwalker7018 They took their anger out on a guy who is working for a paycheck and probably has people to support. The frustration should've been directed at the company and not the individual. I'm willing to bet there was a lot worse said about the driver throughout the pour that wasn't added into the video as well.
Yep, it was incredibly poor show from the guys, especially Buggs. Very disappointing to see.

I love seeing the community you’ve built showing you and the guys love in the form of food drinks. Makes me think of what my family and I would put on as a spread for the guys on a job at our house. Breakfast sandwiches for the morning with OJ, apple juice, milk, water, and coffee to drink. Lunch would probably be a full sandwich station with all the fixings to include pasta salad, potato salad, slaw, chips, soda, more water, and Gatorade. On the last day of the job (if multiple days are required or just in general) BBQ spread with ribs, burgers, brats, Mac, beans, etc. to close the day. Of course, take home bags are an option.
I love the fact that Jr calls Sr ‘The Destroyer’ 😂

Ryan, as a dog behaviorist, i can tell that you guys need to get jade to stop jumping and nipping out of excitement. the best way to discourage this behavior is to not look at them, talk to them, or touch them while they’re performing unwanted behavior. Like in the mornings when you greet her, ignoring her until she is calm will help her understand what is wanted. The high pitch “HEY JADE” mixed with getting down to her level and petting her incites excitement and her wanting to jump and then she catches on that that’s how she’s supposed to greet people. just food for thought. thanks for the videos ryan. huge fan

@cymeyes14, as a dog owner, I can safely say that some of us don't care to tame/control the dog and just love to see him/her in it's natural happy state :)

@@trailersparks6675 i only commented that because of the clip where he’s literally pushing her head down to try to teach her to not jump. and he always says “you gotta stop jumping” so i’m just helping out.
