I had one yesterday at UW medical school, Seattle. Thanks God it turns out a very simple procedure for me. After the procedure and until now I am my usual self. No pains. No complications. I want to thank neurosurgeons at UW.

Had mine a few years ago without sedation, after an intracerebral haemorrhage.
No pain whatsoever during the surgery, just weird purple light flashes I could see with eyes closed as the dye was injected.
Was an amazing experience to be able to see my own x-rayed brain box circuits on the adjacent monitor as the surgeon did his magic. Gotta love technology!

Glad to hear someone else saw stuff while their eyes were closed. I saw flashes of vain like structures. Like a slowmo video of lighting in in the sky.

This is a great video. The only part I beg to differ is where it is stated that a doctor may apply pressure to the area for 15-20 minutes after the cath is removed. I have been told it's the nurse that will apply the pressure for that time. There is no way a doctor will stand or sit there for 20 minutes doing that.
Let's give credit where credit is due :)

My dad had a terrible complications after this test. He got a stroke while the test was happening. After that he got into a coma. After a day, his brain got inflamed. They did a surgery to remove some bone on his brain so his brain expand but the inflammation was keeping going and half of his brain died. Now my dad is in the hospital with a horrible brain damage and his life is gone. Our family it's not the same after this. We are very upset we can't understand why this happened to him but I know everyone it's different but unfortunately he didn't came out right after this.

Hey Varun Gorur Sampath 👋 You’ll be awake for the procedure but won’t feel anything. Try not to move your head during. It’s pretty simple and kind of cool if you get a chance to look at the screens. Post procedure recovery should only take a week in which you’ll need to stay flat. Going on small walks shouldn’t affect you though. Sitting and standing has been a bit difficult but not horrible. Overall it was a very easy procedure and the recovery is not nearly as bad as the brain surgery I had to go through :) it’s very rare for something to go bad so I’m sure it’ll go great!

Hi Wajiha, according to our experts: That pathway from the femoral artery to the aorta, past the heart, is the best way to arrive at the vessels of the head and neck. The heart is not touched.

Cuz you gotta enter carotid artery in order to release that dye to the brain vessels, and damaging arteria carotis interna would be lethal so you should take the long path and enter from a safer artery without crossing the hearth on the way.

It usually doesn't take longer than one hour, but it really depends on person's anatomy and how torturous the arteries are and how difficult they are to acess.
