- In this video I capture the entire process of how an expert creates a Tiki head from start to finish in less than one hour using all hand tools.
Meet Una and his family of Polynesian wood carvers as they share their art that has been passed down over multiple generations.
You can see these guys at work in Lahaina, Maui on Front Street either at their shop right next to the Paia Fish Restaurant or at their stand in front of the Wharf Cinema Center Shops at Front St and Hotel St.

only been to Maui once and i went to Lahaina a few times and i saw una there he was really chill i enjoyed talking to him and asking him about his art
It was great seeing these craftsman creating’s making such beautiful artwork. Lahaina was such a beautiful place. It makes me sad what the fire has done to Lahaina and its people and these beautiful pieces of art or most likely destroyed. I hope that these craftsman made it out safely with their families.

I am currently on vacay in Maui and just walked by the tikis on sale across the street from the banyan tree yesterday, going back tomorrow!
We just visited Una and my son took his 1 hour class. He showed my son how to carve the same tiki and it’s awesome. What a great experience and it supports these great local artists.

Is there a website where I can order Tiki's from them? I live in the UK and already have several Tiki's, though mine are not that detailed. I've got a few 1 foot, some 1 meter ones and some 5 foot Tiki's but I've always wanted a really detailed, authentic Hawaiian Tiki with real detail and beautiful finish. I do see some shops in the US that sell them online, but their prices are way too high for me to be able to afford.
I don't think they do online orders. I know you can purchase one in person and they will ship. It gives you a reason to go on a vacation!
