Thanks again Nigel. Whenever I am working and then the RUclips notification says "Hey, Nigel just posted another video"... well, I stop what I'm doing and watch it. Never disappointed. Always educated and equipped. Thanks also for the many links you add.
I love you videos and the fact you make old cameras and smart phone lighting better. Shows everyone you don't need the best of the best to make a nice looking video 👍🏼
This is EXACTLY what I needed! Finally starting up a channel with my new found free time and I went back to your channel to watch "How to Make an Old $300 Camera Look Pro" and this popped up. Perfect timing! Thanks dood!
I gotta say that you're my favorite "film-making related" youtuber. It's nice and all to see people talk to me about Arri and RED, but the stuff you talk about is the stuff I am gonna need in my life right now! And you seem like a really cool and down to earth dude, which is a plus!
This could not have been a more well timed video for me. I have an 6’s too. And can’t afford to really buy a camera. So this is a game changer for me. Thanks so much.
Hey, my friend, I've been watching your videos and, the more I watch them, the more I think you are a great youtuber. If I hadn't watched your videos, I wouldn't have realized that I can do interesting things with my cell phone. Thanks for everythig, my friend. Take care! Greetings from Peru 🇵🇪
Thank you Nigel! I stumbled upon your channel a few days ago and binged most of it, you have a real talent and your tips are so easy to implement, even for a total noob like myself - keep up the great work!
There you go! That's bad ass. I see this older camera stuff is your lane. I think if you keep doing this you'll get a ton of sub. Mostly because your good and secondly because no ones doing it like that.
Love this video. I make short sci-fi films with an old Google Pixel (the original) and now with an LG-V30. One thing that I must say is that you're color grade really gives the video footage a film look. Can you do a tutorial on how you color grade as that's what gives me the most issues?
I have a old Samsung Galaxy 4 the last phone you can change the battery and SD card . I mainly use it as a MP3 player and mini tablet. I use my DSLR 'S for photography and video Thanks for showing another use for my old phone
Nigel, I am a small youtuber with 100+ vlogs on the channel shot entirely with iPhone SE first and iPhone XS then. I really need help on the tech side cause I'm good at storytelling, I'm good at video editing, but I feel like my head would like to explode when I think about how to improve the actual image quality of my videos. I loved this video you just posted, but I really wished you took each one of the points you talked about and made a video for each one of them, cause I didn't understand much about how to practically apply your tips. For example the apps: great! Finally I know in which one to invest. But then I know that I'll have NO IDEA of how to use it, so it will probably stay there untouched. Filters? Never thought about them! But when you tried to explain the correlation between controlling exposition and moving image I didn't understand any of it. 00:45 what did you show there? How can I reach the two different results? You have a great channel about video making and I see it growing very big! We need you Nigel. I'm sure you'll find the way to make some even clearer and informative videos. Thanks for all you're doing and keep it up 😉
Incredible video, really exposes how you dont need super expensive gear to make quality content. If you know your stuff well enough you can make amazing shit.
An iPhone app I use is called ProMovie Recorder. It provides a lot of control, and it seems to work pretty well. It cost me a few dollars a few years ago.
hey could u do one like this but on an iphone 11 pro or 12 i know i could just look it up on another channel but i like ur explanations or who knows maybe u have one already? LMK♥️
Does that cheap ND really work? I have found that cheap is usually that and you get what you pay for. The only gear I bought at cheap price and was suprised at the quality was a Lav mic. Stay healthy my friend.
HI WITCH FILTER MAKE DID YOU BUY TO SCEW INTO Moment - Phone - 37mm Filter Mount B,COZ I DONT LIKE THE CLIP ON IDEAR AND I HACE IPHONE 6S AND CASE TO LIKE YOU MY FRIEND CHEERS
I have a Nokia Lumia 521 that I bought in 2014 and Windows app store is closed already, so, I can't download any apps whatsoever. Please tell me how can I shoot quality videos with my Nokia Lumia 521. Thanks in advance.
Is it something I've picked up. but most RUclipsrs are making videos of handheld videos with a mobile phone. potatoejet did it, you did the same then Matti hapojja. whats this copy thing going on.
Don’t think copying is the thing, the moment film festival is (was) around the corner so that’s why I made this video. But I also think that mobile filmmaking is on the rise these days
The truth is - without any intention to offend you, is that nothing about this video is "pro". The only thing that's really amazing in this video is mother nature. If you visit these amazing places they will even look amazing on old devices, because we're not amazed by the quality of the camera here or the insane color grading or the great cinematic camera movements (which didn't exist at all), but simply the backgrounds. I don't say this to bash on you, I'm sure you have improved a lot since back then (without even checking your channel, only seen this video), but with all these phone footages from people visiting some of the biggest places on earth filming huge mountains and waterfalls and stuff, we should really all be able to understand WHAT we like on a video and not be misguided. Because the disillusionment will be pretty big if we'd now head out there to buy an iPhone 6s only to figure out that it doesn't produce as half as astonishing footages back in our garden or down the street.
hi please reply to this and my question below ? can you use the moment on a 6s case it will not fit ?? there only for M-series cases. and your is a v1 type case and lens ?? so how can you use thanks my friend please please please reply to both my quuestions so inportant to me .... thanks
The case for the 6s isn’t for the v1 lenses. It’s for the v2 stuff. You have to check moments used gear in order to find it for iPhones as old as the 6s though
Yeah but when shooting video you need to have a shutter of twice that of your frame rate. So when shooting at 24p for instance, your shutter needs to be at 1/48 for proper motion blur. The problem is in bright sunlight 1/48 will let in too much light, so an ND filter will be the only way to bring down your exposure on a smartphone. Lowering your iso won’t bring the exposure down enough and there’s no way to close down the aperture on phones so shutter speed is the only real way to control exposure. Again the problem is having super fast shutter speeds is the biggest thing that will make your video look amateur, keeping it at double the frame rate is key, that’s why an ND filter is essential to smartphone videos, especially shooting outside
NigelBarros yes things are evolving so fast. It's the other day I heard Dabiel Shiffer joking about the cross disolve transition that's something you'd see on a wedding film from 2011. You know like 2011 was 20 years ago...
What’s your biggest struggle when filming on a smartphone?
Pls nigel pls let us get to know how do you set such a dope lighting
Biggest struggle is framing when I film myself
Vedio editing
MIND'S EYE he already made a video on how to do good lighting.
For me it’s , the unstable camera movement, it’s pretty much impossible to have a smooth shot with your hand.
Thanks again Nigel. Whenever I am working and then the RUclips notification says "Hey, Nigel just posted another video"... well, I stop what I'm doing and watch it. Never disappointed. Always educated and equipped. Thanks also for the many links you add.
Appreciate you stopping by to check out my videos!
I don't know how you're not famous on youtube, you make amazing content man!!
Moment finaly released a universal lens clip so you can usd their lenses or filters on older or budget smartphones.

The color grading was sweet, definitely made the footage look much more professional. micro jitters... gotta love 'em haha, pro cam seems solid!

I like these videos helps eliminate excuses for those who say you need a really nice camera.

Useful video- cheers. Your lighting looks good btw. I almost didn’t believe you were shooting with a phone.

What would I do without this channel
Wow... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!🤍
thanks for such a good video! very straight to the point & informative !! :,)
This is awesome!
we´ll have to see🤔
Great video. What app/software you used to edit post shooting? Any LUTs involved? Thanks.
I really hate that moment stopped supporting usage with Android
i got all those apps..its working wel
How do you get the black lines (wide screen look)? Is that done in editing? Or is that an aspect ratio? It makes it look more cinematic. I like it.
Great sound is most critical not a filter
Very cool.
Hi Nigel I really like your suggestions on a budget.
I'm curious are you portuguese origin?
Thanks for the feedback! My father is a Brasilian!

Unfortunately, some of the apps you mentioned are only available, or only fully workable, on the IPhone.
Does that cheap ND really work? I have found that cheap is usually that and you get what you pay for. The only gear I bought at cheap price and was suprised at the quality was a Lav mic. Stay healthy my friend.
Waiting tips for Osmo Pocket!
hey nigel are you making this video with an iphone right now??
The problem in some phones like Redmi 5Plus is low compensation for light
so some video will less detail. but maybe the solution is buy new phone
What is the ProCam app you mentioned? There are several on the Apple app store
as a matter of fact what camera app are you using to record this video?
Ok yeah... But what are those people beating to death at 0:23?
