It is fantastic to see you doing Napoleonics so soon afhter ACW, but it's like you said, If the sales go well and the public wants it manufacturers will follow. I wanted to get into Napoleonics for some time now, but already have so much in 28mm that this format just speaks loads to me! Vive L'Empereur!

They're all nicely detailed, sturdy and well proportioned. Once my Bolt Action Italian Force is painted (It arrived last month!) I shall definitely be saving up for one of the starter armies!

    Very much considering picking some of these kits up when I've got more money at my disposal, I've been an ACW and Napoleonics nut since I was like 12-13. If you're looking for ideas for future boxed sets to do, I'd gladly recommend Leipzig. It's close enough to Waterloo that you could probably reuse some of the French and Prussian models from the Waterloo box, and the battle also involved Austrians, Russians, Swedes, Poles, Saxons and other Germans, just tons of armies big and small.

    Four highland regiments at Waterloo, but only three kilted. 14th Foot also wore the old stovepipe. Belgian wings were distinct from those of the British, but you may get away with it in this scale. Brunswick troops at Waterloo sported two different types of shako, both of which were quite different from the Belgic or the French shako.

    • @sirrathersplendid4825
      @sirrathersplendid4825 2 года назад

      It’s not entirely clear how many Brunswickers wore the Russian-style shako. Some certainly did but in this scale you would barely tell any difference. More important are the carrot-shaped plumes for the line and light infantry and the horsehair tail worn by the Leib Regiment.

    • @peezebeuponyou3774
      @peezebeuponyou3774 2 года назад

      @sirrathersplendid4825 2 года назад

      @@peezebeuponyou3774 - You say both types of Brunswick shako were quite different from the French shako?
      Sure the Russian-style Kiwer was quite different, though it’s not at all clear how extensively it was worn. The other type, however, is extremely similar to the French shako, and completely indistinguishable at 28mm, let alone 15mm.

    • @peezebeuponyou3774
      @peezebeuponyou3774 2 года назад

      @@sirrathersplendid4825
      Hello Rather_
      I'm not including the basic line infantry shako, which, as you've alluded, would easily pass for a Belgic. Yes, I should have stipulated 'non-line' troops.
      Light infantry shakos likewise, although how many had switched to the cap by 1815 is open to debate.
      It's the Guard and Avant-Garde hat I was referring to. Just to repeat so we're all clear on this- it is these two types of headgear which would need to be sculpted.
      The guards shako is an easy conversion. The AG hat not so much- given that these figures are pretty compatible with Minifigs, I'd just buy their version if you plan on using them on your gaming table.

    • @sirrathersplendid4825
      @sirrathersplendid4825 2 года назад

      @@peezebeuponyou3774 - I do in fact have Minifigs for my own AG rifles. Also have a bunch of HaT figures, which are unfortunately rather poor models, although they are currently restricted to the AG Light Infantry (not the Gelernte Jäger). The style of hat they’re wearing was known as Corsican.
      BTW, the ‘Belgic shako’ was used by the British. The typical Brunswick shako resembles that of the French.

    Thanks John, as you are backing up “That Article” with all the division commanders / Generals/ Marshals I’m sold. I would have preferred a smaller base for the sprue as 20mm would fit my Age of Eagles rules an probably 4 of your figures per rank would fit on that. 30mm would fit Dave Browns new rules General d’ Armee’. It would have suited a lot more players.
    About 15 years a well known 10mm manufacturer refused to produce a British Army with the 1812/15 uniform saying there was no call for it as Waterloo was only one battle. I wanted to paint british and French armies for the 200th anniversary. I would have had 10 years to paint them.
    To keep mysel happy I decided to change from news agent to Spar convenience store I sold up and retired in 2013. In 2017 he produced his first Waterloo figures.
    So you’re dead right about Waterloo. I’m just deciding wether to buy from the top en £££ or paint and go but. Those specials are very tempting so is the pub and the farm I also need more paint after painting SYW Figures. Living near Rhyl no shops after buying stock for 25 years you would think I could cope but things are changing so fast now.
    Any way I’m sold the 1” figures just fit and they are big enough to show detail and get twice the battle size than an 18mm army.
