    The battery disconnecting problem shown in the video was my own fault, not Focus'. When replacing the battery cover door, I accidentally moved the battery retention clip down to a point where it just about made contact. This probably caused extra stress to the connector -> connector broke. After sliding that clip up, the battery makes good contact again and all is fine.

    Love the honesty instead of all the bullshit and how fantastic these bikes are! Well done.

    This bike with 6.9 spec has been one of my options for the next season. After hearing your cons I am leaning more towards Pole Voima for easier tinkering and more unique/exciting bike.

      Ok, Makes sense! Battery problem show in the video was my own fault tho, I'll pin a comment about that right now.

    Very helpful review to help me make my decision . . was attracted to the specs Fox , Race face.
    But cables thru the stem ? and plastic battery battery cover .. Single clamp brakes & shifter . Plastic cups in head set ,Emtb are heavy and bolts rattle loose some not accessible . that's a no from me .

    In the Jam2 8.8 they have already changed the cable routing system, at least in December 2023. Seen in bike store.

    Agreed with the review. I have the 2021 model, which was better IMHO. Easy battery cover, mullet compatible.

      I agree. I have the 2022 bike and love it. Easy to take the battery on and of the bike. Great bike to ride. But lack of good trails where I live. :(

    I don't care about the advantages, they can be found in advertising brochures. However, in review you mentioned all the major design flaws that I also notice as a user. Yes, plastic headset are a complete failure, squeak from the first meters. Well done.

    Nice honest review ! Thanks, but it made me doubt what my next bike will be. I am currently riding an Focus Jam2 6.9 from 2022. My rear shock almost bottoms out with small table top jumps and low drops. I was looking for an emtb with more travel on the rear and front and more range and the engine front Bosch. Since you can't recommend this bike, do you have an other suggestions ? I love trail, enduro and I an bit heavy rider 91 kg with gear.

    Just got a SAM 6.9 with the upgraded battery lid/flap and hit the bash guard 3 times during a 30km ride riding over slow drops. My sag was 30% on the shock so maybe a little low?? but getting a new spring to drop sag and maybe this will help. I think they put the battery to low on this bike.

      @@UnicornBikes went for a ride with bigger spring and the battery tray hit the ground 1/2 the time. Also my DIY fibreglass/Carbon fibre bash guard worked well as it hugs the lower down tube and under the battery door so when it did get hit it wasnt that bad.

    I have the older 2021 sam2 6.8 and I love it. Agree that the CIS is not the best, but if you went to the trouble of changing the stem you should have just moved the cables to the side ports. Much better. Focus have had enough time to improve so it's disappointing to see they have gone backwards. I'm a sucker for the less well known brand as I like value for money. Cheers

    • @huwwilliams5454

      Err, just had a closer look, have they removed the side port option for the cables? If so, that sucks!

    • @UnicornBikes
      @UnicornBikes  Год назад

      No side ports or taps to route externally on this one! Schandalous!

  • @diymasterTM

    you don't recommend bike, because of cable routing and battery cover? Or did I missed something bigger? I am looking for 6.9 for a really good price...

    • @UnicornBikes
      @UnicornBikes  Год назад +1

      exactly, poor cable routing makes work a nightmare. also, some of the suspension bolts keep coming loose

    • @diymasterTM
      @diymasterTM Год назад +2

      @UnicornBikes but cable routing you do once in a life time of the bike:) For screw can use loctite? Hope this happened once and can be fixed? But in general how you satisfied with the bike, If you forget on cables;)?

    • @UnicornBikes
      @UnicornBikes  Год назад +3

      bike is good, but swapping a stem or brakes is something I do frequently and this routing makes that impossible. Once the stem is swapped for a normal one, the bike is great

    • @diymasterTM
      @diymasterTM Год назад +1

      @UnicornBikes thnx that I wants to hear:)) OK you are 0.001% of riders who do this so often. Usually they use stock:) I would also change brakes on them for magura mt7. So I need to one rainy weekend to play with it and them that's it:) Thnx for really quick replies!! Save ride!🤙

      Great, fyi: it took me about 4h to swap the stem, the acros headset cover, trim hoses, bleed brakes and go tubeless.

    Have you tried setting up your bike as a mullet? I know Focus doesn't recommend this, I'm interested in your impressions if you've tried it.

      @@rafalopiola haven't tried it and I don't see a 32" front wheel any time soon. I feel like my legs are long enough for a full 29". Maybe for M and smaller mullet makes sense

    Yeah putting fit dampers into emtb enduro rigs just seems idiotic. I'm guessing they are cheaper and people generally don't understand how bad of an idea it is and that's how you get bikes with the wrong parts. Especially egregious on this bike coming with a coil. But even if it is a float X I still don't want a fit damper.
