This is so, so good. But... also at age 12 Angelina has done a live concert in Oslo with the Staff Music Corps from the Norwegian army to promote her first cd 'It's Magic'. And I think it is here she has done her very best performance yet: 'It's a man's World'. When you are going to react on that one: please fasten your seatbelt and don't miss the reactions from some members in the orchestra. It really is magic. You have been warned 😂😂.

Something you may not have noticed. The microphone she's using is a Neumann 102 she got for her 12th birthday. If you look closely, she's singing into it backwards.

For me in this new Age of Aquarius....people say, "Oh she's a savant." I say she's channeling. I never think anyone is a savant. I'm wondering who they're channeling. I can hear Angelina channeling Etta James. I feel we're very fortunate to see this and listen.

She also sang a Christmas song for a radio station at age 11 called "Mary's Boy Child" .... she also sang a Disco song at age 10 called "I WILL SURVIVE" ..... them 12 brings you "STAY" ...."A MILLION YEARS ÀGO" .... Alex, Angelina was excited to try out her new microphone, which she received for her birthday on January 10, 2018, she turned 12yrs old. Setting down on a purple couch start singing to a backtrack of "I'd Rather Go Blind," which sounds as good as a Studio recording session! Alex, go back on track to Angelina's early years went she was growing up and becoming known as a Jazz singer!

I went on a fact finding mission including that the microphone is indeed backwards it is a 1700 dollar TLM102 Neumanns new microphone just an incredibly sensitive mic

@@js33412 the one in the video I was told was the 102 was even sent a link to it by of course just another angel. I know not why they would lie, but also why they would tell the truth is questionable in the same extent.

She’s actually 12. She was trying out her new Neumann microphone, which she received for her birthday on January 10, 2018. She ended up deleting (she's really empathic) the video because of all the slack she received from all of the people talking about her using the microphone incorrectly and also because of the amount of vocal fry she had put into that song. She was only 12, for gosh sake, and I'm glad a fan re-uploaded it about a year later, when she was 13. It doesn't seem to matter much about the microphone facing the wrong way or about her tremendous vocal fry now, right? It's just a fabulous rendition of the song, which will eventually be part of a masterpiece collection.
Liked your comments... It's interesting that she took the video down, in part, because of comments made about her holding her TLM-102 incorrectly. I hadn't thought of that... Maybe that's why she does a pretty good job of covering up the Neumann logo with her hands when she now occasionally holds her TLM-103 backwards. Angelina is exceptionally smart. So, I'm pretty sure she purposely orientates her unidirectional mics. She had used Neumann mics for quite a while before her 12th birthday. So, she was certainly familiar with them prior to 2018... Also, it's interesting to note that after her 12th birthday, she continued to post videos using her old mic. Of the currently uploaded videos, she doesn't use her new "102" until April after she had moved to LA.
Actually, the backward facing mic gave it a unique sound... maybe from bounce back echo in the room ?
@@rickrack4812 When you look at Neumann's schematic of it reception, it has a pretty wide angle, wrap-around pickup. But, very little from the backside that Angelina was singing into. I'm sure it makes a difference in how the vocal sounds relative to the surrounding room. The fact that she's now holding her "103" this way in some of her "home" TikTok recordings indicates to me that she's doing it purposely for effect. I personally think that was the case when she was 12 as well... Most kids have a wish list of presents they want for their birthday. I bet she could tell you the technical specs of every mic on the market. Plus, she's used most of them. (The mic she used in "Back to Black" was a vintage Neumann M49... $15-20,000) For all we know, she practiced with that mic for hours before she recorded her Etta James cover... She's so smart and such a perfectionist, it would be out of character for her to make a fundamental mistake with her mic... And, I could see how it could hurt her feelings if her fans thought she did... Anyway, only Angelina knows for sure... Now, I bet she gets a good chuckle out of the whole discussion.
@@johnwriter267 In this video it is also clear what Angelina means, that when she sings she goes into a world of colored lights. Mostly we see her singing with her eyes closed and when she opens them she stares into the void, that is her world of hers, which we do not see and only she sees.
She is the artist. She decides which mic and how she uses it. There is video of her singing into a mic from her bed when she was a year and a half old.

And i never look back! she was the one! i spent the hold day just checking her video out and at the end of the day i already new she was the greatest artist i ever seen or heard! she made me FEEL music She made me feel emotion i never had She Change my outlook at life She Not human! Sitting comfortably on the couch, headphones on, microphone in hand, Angelina casually waves hello to us then delivers, IMO, one of the greatest versions of this classic song.
It is not strange that you are at times at a loss for words to describe what you are feeling listening to Angelina Jordan. I've listened to this song and reactions to it quite a few times, and I am never surprised at the reaction to the vocal gymnastics this quite young Angelina performed on "I'd Rather Go Blind", and, as we saw on "Feeling Good", Angelina can pull off seemingly whenever she wants. It is part of what makes her great, and in a way, a unicorn, I think. Please keep reacting in this way - your excitement, surprise and admiration towards Angelina Jordan is inspiring, and quite frankly, infectious. Thank you.

she is the one vocalist that constantly makes me wince, shake my head, squint my eyes, raise my shoulders and just squeeze reactions out of me. (I smile when watching reactors determinedly push their headphones on even tighter to hear all of Angelina's unique sound)

I've been a hopelessly addicted AJ fan for at least 5 years. You mentioned in your reaction that you are a metalhead. Welcome to the club. I was into metal before it was a thing. Steppenwolf and Iron Butterfly in 4th grade. I was the first kid in 4th grade with the brand new Jimi Hendrix Are You Experienced? album. A couple of years later, Black Sabbath. I liked a lot of other stuff too.
I never heard of AJ. 8 yo AJ did What A Difference A Day Makes. She changed everything. It is like she said you will listen to me now. When she did I Put A Spell On You, she was not kidding. I think it was quite literal.
You asked if there were songs between age 10 and 13 that you should hear? Yes, about 30 or 40. You can see now why Angelina is the Girl with Girl with a Thousand Voices. We got perfect 1960’s soul today-as always, honoring the Etta James original, but all Angelina.
Many reviewers are stunned with young Angelina and want to stay chronological. That’s very hard because she has so many incredible videos at all ages. Don’t worry about the timeline. Angelina will continue to blow you away at any age. I don’t think she’s better now-just different. People might disagree, but how can she be better when she was the best child singer ever? Try some of her covers of Adele to see how her interpretation of lyrics is the best you’ve ever heard.

She might have been 12 here - she received that magic Neumann mike as a present in April of 2018, when she was 12. An interesting tidbit, she used the wrong side of the mike to record this. Whether she did it on purpose or just because she didn't know better is unknown.
This performance belongs on the stage of The Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY,
before the toughest 'Black Soul' critics on the planet. She would have garnered
a standing ovation, for sure.
I didn't get a 10 to 13 transition, I had to experience her growing up in real time. Not a complaint to be found around here though.

Etta James 1968 'I’d Rather Go Blind.' I saw Cadillac Records (the story of Etta James & Cadillac Records) and Beyoncé killed that song. How old was she in that? Angelina was 12 here got the mic for her birthday and what an investment. Here is Angelina, just sitting, sitting on the couch singing into the mic backwards, purposely or not and belting out the best rendition I have ever heard. I was instantly transported back to 1968 when I was 13. That was at the very height of Motown probably my favorite period in music. That music was magical. Angelina could have been born in '56 and she would have been one of best Motown Artists of the time in '68 and doing it at 12 yrs old. I believe Angelina picked out that mic and again what a choice ♥👣🔥

The line that strikes me in the song is where she asks "Forgive me for all that I am." She knows that, by just being Angelina, she has changed the lives of everyone in her Family. And, she's so grateful... Such insite and understanding from an 11 year old child... She's such a special gift to her Family and to us all...👣💕

Before you get past 10 years old, you have to to do Angelina Jordan sings at Alan Walker is Heading Home. She is 10, Alan Walker has asked her to sing 2 songs at his concert in Norway. Look him up. At that time he was extremely popular especially in Europe and Asia. This event will make you so proud of her. I love following you on her journey.
Just a heads-up, she is 12 here. Also, by this time, she had over 30 various appearances, including concerts and fundraisers. She had also sung in front of 40,000 people at a Norah Jones concert. To date, she has around 210 songs...

Experts will tell you singing sitting down is difficult. Angelina does not care.

She was actually 12 here, and rumour has it she had just unpacked this mic, a birthday present, and was testing it out. Whether true or not, this was almost certainly another impromptu moment for her. There are quite a few of her singing around the house with a karaoke backing. I recommend Billie Holiday's "All Of Me" (NOT the John Legend song), which bookends "Rather Go Blind" rather nicely.
I think that The “degree” of maturity is not so important you feel what she conveys we all get (or should) get better with deliberate practice and experience. Angelina has been blowing our sock’s off since she appeared on RUclips at age 7

Hej Allan - I share your admiration for AJ - she sings 2 songs at 10 with Allan Walker: Sing me to Sleep and Faded - again out of this world. Her first original is Shield at 12. At 12 she also sings Stay and Million Years ago. With these 2 you better have tissues ready. Her ability to transfer feelings with her voice is like therapy to me.
