    I did a memorial stair climb for 9/11 this past year, I climbed in honor of Vernon Cherry, Ladder 118. RIP. Be safe brothers.

    Man I love how FDNY fit such big rigs in tight spaces!
    What's 118 like? Busy? Lookin' at doin' a trip to Downtown Brooklyn.

    • @TheResponder
      @TheResponder  5 лет назад +1

      Yes it's a great house!
      Its busy and mostly in the summertime. They are right by the Brooklyn bridge and get many calls up there.
      I recommend you purchase the 9/11 shirt. One of the best shirts with the firefighters pictured in the back with their names who died on 9/11...

    I like when you get a closeup on the serial number under the drivers side windshield. Lets us know the year of that unit. Like that engine started with 15 so we know the year. Good job.

    Guys... I'm Italian and we have smaller trucks. Is comfortable (and useful) using big engines and ladders in USA? I think (especially in big cities) you have tu buy small but also useful trucks. I don't know all about Fire trucks in US and I'd like to talk about it

    • @TheResponder
      @TheResponder  6 лет назад +2

      Hello Alessio. In the engine or ladder it is very spacious for our firefighters to get in and get out. As for the older models such as 2006 models, they are tighter and small amount of legroom. Your are more then welcomed to visit any of our firehouses. Regards to you from Italy from the USA...

    • @alessiozingoni9263
      @alessiozingoni9263 6 лет назад +1

      The Responder oh right, the space for firefighters is important but I think it's more important save lifes and don't stay in city traffic. I think firefighters can be confortable although the small place, as in Italian trucks. Here are some video of our truck (link under). Another questions... do you know what's a NASPO? (I can't translate in english). By the way, I don't know who you are so I'm very sorry if I disrespect You in some way especially if you are a Police officer, firefighter or paramedics but I have a low level of English...

      I do not know what is "NASPO"... And no worries my friend you can ask any question. And for our fire dept our fire trucks can get around traffic with no problem. I will send you a link to one of our bigger fire rescue trucks so you can see --

    How many firefighters work in a fire station and do they do A shift B shift and C shift and how many seats r in the Engines and Ladders

    • @alexr1101
      @alexr1101 6 лет назад

      Damon Moritz it always depends on the pieces in a station. If its a single engine company, probably less than ten. If its an engine & truck company, probably around 20. Firefighters generally work 24 hour shifts, and then have two days off. Alternatively they might work 48 hour shifts and have four days off. It all depends on the department, so these are just generalizations.

      Generally ladders run with crews of six. Most engines have crews of 5, but the busier units have 6.
