I’ve always had this theory, I always thought that King D-Mind was just Shadow Dedede possessed or controlled by Dark Mind, extending on to that, I also think that, you remember Dark Mind Phase 1 in Amazing Mirror? I’ve always thought that that body is NOT Dark Mind’s, but rather someone else’s that Dark Mind is using, perhaps the Mirror World version of Nightmare. Dark Mind’s true form is the eye itself, and that eye can go in people’s minds and control them, hence “Dark Mind”. Also like a lot of other people I think Dark Mind is the Mirror World version of Dark Matter, the difference between being how Dark Matter takes over the body and how Dark Mind rather goes for manipulating the mind. Ah but I’m rambling like always, this is magnificent, it’s like Dedede’s rematch, which I would love to have in a future Kirby game, I also particularly love how you made both versions of King D-Mind, even matching the respective background too!
Yo I'm glad we both have the same theory :D In fact I think even the designs hint towards this theory. King D-Mind and Dark Mind phase 1 have the exact same head piece helmet looking thing. They even share the larger grey spikes with each other. Thank you! With the way that I set up my layers, it makes it really easy to do palette swaps. Even so, for King D-Mind's Revenge I added the metallic shading to the rest of his body since he looks really shiny in-game. :D
I agree with you guys. It looks like dark mind using shadow Dedede as a vessel. His revenge form is almost as though he fully materialized and was not just summoned onto the battlefield randomly and unprepared for like his inferior form was.

Maybe one day they'll do a version where you can play as other characters like Star Allies! I do like the addition of the boss themed gear though, the dark mind looks very cool.
