This scene was special to me because we get to see a side of Robby’s sympathetic restraint towards Kenny, that same demeanor he showed to Miguel in the last All Valley Tournament where he offered his hand to help Miguel up. In retrospect, he now realizes the anger that negatively affected him after seeing it again to someone he cares about, being Kenny.
@Thales Assis no , he see himself reflected in Kenny and how he became a monster just like him and realize that he is in the wrong way and the only way to find peace is to finally solve his problems with his father
@Thales Assis The reason Johnny understood Miguel is because in season 1, miguel won because he was fighting dirty, johnny saw that he screwed up, so thats why he punished them in season 2, now Robby is in the same situation with Kenny, both of them helped bullied kids become strong but dirty fighters and that strike first thing, so thats why he goes to his father where his father tells him he didn't ruin everything because they did the same mistake, and that Johnny is to blame but Robby was tired of blaming his father so they made up.

I feel like Kenny needed to lose this battle against Robby, although Robby would obviously win….Kenny has shown that he builds confidence fast and is very brash, he acts first and then asks questions later. Yeah he’s talented, he learns fast, he IS fast, but you have to slow down your rodeo. Robby being his mentor is literally the best thing to happen to him since he can counter balance him and show him “You arent there yet.” It’s like in the legend of Korra where tenzin fought zaheer. Zaheer was extremely talented in air bending and learned so quickly plus he was able to beat other strong characters making him seem impossible to beat. But once he was put up against an air bending master, tenzin, His immense talent and learning prowess didn’t matter. Tenzin showed that being in the fight longer and being a TRUE air bending master beats a talented noobie every day of the week. Kenny is pretty much the same, at least in my eyes

He's like 12-13 going up against 17 year olds, really impressive. When I was 12, all of the older kids in school (who were around 15-16) were like giants compared to me.
Honestly Kenny probably knew he was gonna lose this fight. Even though he's confident and is gonna fight to win he knows how strong Robby is. His loss doesn't really knock him off his high horse or make him start questioning Robby. The issue is Robby has such a heavy uncontrollable brutality to him that he can't regulate between going easy on someone and giving them full respect as a competitor by fighting at his best. When he starts really trying against Kenny he switches towards a very disrespectful fight style and forgets he's still fighting his friend, and it's the core to what his character is still going through and why he needed to release himself of the built up hate he had and come to terms with it.
Yeah, the fight was a foregone conclusion and they both knew it. What was shocking was just how merciless Robby was when he could have easily won without having to be brutal.

The most messed up thing about this fight is that Robby taught Kenny to run towards his opponents instead of running away from them. Robby purposely motioned for Kenny to run towards him. Kenny probably thought applying Robby's instruction in their particular match was a good idea; it wasn't. 🤕

At first I was hoping that Robby would take this opportunity to push Kenny to his limits, and not go easy on him to show him he doesn't pity hin or think he's weak. In a way I thought it was for the best that Robby fought seriously to toughen Kenny up. But Robby was just brutal.

Robby's last attack was unneccesarily violent. But putting that aside, this fight was needed. There's no greater disrespect towards an opponent than holding back for any reason. You dont want to win knowing your opponent held back on you. You want to win because you want to surpass them in that moment. Robby was in the right mindset during that first hit. Kreese, while maybe not always being the right teacher, was right in asking him that very important question; "is he your friend, or your opponent?". In the ring, he is the opponent.
Robby got them Sith eyes! This fight is what really mess him up, he could have beaten Eli but seeing what Cobra Kai had done to Kenny and himself made him doubt his priorities. Daniel also warned him about having someone's blood on his hands and that ended up being Kenny. Daniel's teachings were there in almost all his scenes the whole season, he just couldn't go full Cobra Kai having already learned from Miyagi-Do.
2:15 If u watch that brutal kick in slow motion, u actually see that his leg wasn’t moving 2 the side. He actually brought his heel down into Kenny’s face. That’s a broken nose fr. (0.50 is a good speed)
It also means that daniels prophecy at the mini mart to robby came true. He broke a kids nose and later he worries if its too late to change course. Daniel was the one who saved robby and it allowed him to let go of his hatred for johnny and miguel.
Kenny thought he was invincible for what he learned from Robby and using the friendship card to his advantage was a dirty move, but it was their sensei’s fault showing them the wrong path, Robby just showed him the reality. He will learn from that.
2:30 = The look on Daniel's face told the entire story. He warned Robby before the tournament that if he continued on the Cobra Kai path that inevitably he would end up with somebody's blood on him and he will ultimately find himself hoping that it won't be too late for him to correct his mistakes because that is exactly what happened to Daniel himself in The Karate Kid Part 3. Only difference is that it was Silver who manipulated Daniel into breaking some thug's nose at a dance club after Silver secretly paid the guy into provoking Daniel and here it's Kreese brainwashing Robby into seriously hurting Kenny.
This is the dialogue of for Season 5 when Robby attempts to rejoin Miyagi-Do: Daniel: What are you doing here? Robby: Mr. LaRusso, look I’m sorry, okay? For everything. I was angry, stubborn, completely stupid and messed up for all the things I did that hurt everyone, including you, my dad, your son, your daughter and more importantly Miguel. I thought I could use Cobra Kai to control my issues, but I ended up making things worse and more importantly I ended corrupting Kenny. If you could give me another chance, I know I can make it right. So? Daniel takes in on a long pause. Daniel: No. Robby: What? Daniel: No. I can’t really do this anymore. I’m sorry, but you’ve took things way too far this time. Robby: But I’m sorry. Look, I know what I did was horrible and completely dishonorable, but I just really angry at you guys. Sam: Oh yeah? Well, how about the fact that you claimed that Johnny was only using Miguel to make himself feel better? I’m sure that wasn’t your fault? Johnny: What? Robby, is this true? Robby: Okay, yes, but I was really angry, because I thought Miguel was trying to attack Tory. Sam: Miguel was restraining Tory! You were the one who told Miguel off that Johnny was never like a real father to him. Johnny: Did you really say that too? Robby, why would you say all that stuff like? Was this really the reason why Miguel quit the tournament? And more importantly the reason why he ran away? Sam becomes shocked along with the rest of the Miyagi-Do students. Sam: Miguel ran away? Robby was the cause for Miguel quitting the tournament? Robby made Miguel run away? Robby: Okay, look, I never meant to hurt everyone, okay? I just angry, upset and really confused at everyone. Daniel: Well we’re angry at you Robby! You completely fucked up! You know, I tried to help you understand that what I was doing for you was the right thing to do and help you realize that there’s responsibilities to one’s own actions and now you’ve created this whole mess and now the entire valley is gonna turn into a thug zone. Robby: Maybe this wouldn’t have happened if you haven’t turned me into the cops. Daniel: I only did it to help you get a lighter sentence and not get you into anymore trouble! Robby: But you could’ve just heard me out on why I did it! You think that would’ve made things easier or worse? Daniel: Well I’m not the one who lied about the Medal of Honor, caused bigger crimes, and gave away Mr. Miyagi’s secrets to a bunch of thugs in a psychotic karate chain! And more importantly, I’m not the one who took on Kreese and silver’s No Mercy method that not only made you dangerous, but very horrible to people and make them run away! Robby: Well I’m not the one who let his own daughter break my heart, not realizing that his own son was hurting Kenny, and more importantly becoming a bad father for not realizing that his kids are hurting completely! Daniel shoves Robby. But Robby ends up engaging in a fight with Daniel, until Johnny stepped in and stop the fight. Daniel and Robby look at each other, angry and upset. Daniel: You know what? Don’t come back here. Get the hell out of my life, never show your face here ever again, I want you gone! Robby: But…. Daniel: GO! Sam: Just get out of here Robby. I never want to see you ever again. And no matter what you try to do or try to make things right will not make anything better or changed what you did. Now get get out! Robby tears up and walks away. This is so interesting. Robby told Kenny that his greatest strength was his speed. Yet ironically, it’s what Robby exploits in order to land that devastating kick.
Robby and Kenny are two prime examples of what happens when you use your emotions to fuel you in a fight, and when you allow your emotions to consume you in a fight.
This caused him to be the way that he is in Season 5. He saw the person he looked up to the most attack him so ruthlessly and began to believe that's the only way he too could grow to be that strong. I'm sure if Robbie kept things friendly, Kenny wouldn't have fallen anywhere near as quickly, but also Robbie wouldn't have faced the hate in his heart either...... so it evens out I guess...
I love this kind of tension… Robbie is essentially Kenny’s Sensi and surrogate big brother reminds me of scott and Liam from teen wolf! Also The fact the lack of mercy in their fight submitted how Kenny feels about mercy.
Robby has adapted and been a great mentor to Kenny, but Kenny got a "little aggressive" while Robby still has heroic traits in him, maybe for both of them to be better maybe they should go to Okinawa, Japan and meet with Chozen and he can make both of them legendary.
@@kirklynncentore7843 it’s not that Kenny is aggressive it’s the fact he was bullied learned how to fight then taught to use those skills and anger to make sure he’s never bullied again. Since he was thrown into competing he hadn’t had time to learn discipline along with his newfound strength
Robby will be the best of them all one day. He has his father's talent, learned the Miyagi do way, but also the Cobra Kai (best of both worlds). He can be both ruthless, but not heartless or headless. The only thing that's stopping him is his own demons. I've watched the KK films again the other day and Miyagi's philosphy of balance and how important it is to come clean with yourself. That is both Johnny's and Robby's arc throughout the series
Martin Kove deserves an Emmy. He stays so true to his character, and even plays his character so well that his character always stays true to his character (I hope that makes sense in the way I'm putting it) When you watch the tournament, he never cheers. He never noticably reacts to circumstances, even if they're surprising. He just always maintains his emotions and actions with complete control, reflecting that he's hiding the true nature of his agenda. Martin Kove is great. Nobody could pull off John Kreese (spelling?) the way he does.
I can Imagine that in the all valley board meeting next season or the season after that they will show robby finishing kenny as the reason to bring in specific age range fights
When Kreese talked to him, it was really like a switch flicked inside Robby. You could really see it in his eyes in that moment and it was kinda scary ngl But I love Robby’s character, always have. Honestly Kenny probably knew he was gonna lose this fight. Even though he's confident and is gonna fight to win he knows how strong Robby is.

The kick was so unnecessary😭 buh other than that, buh you said it best, Kenny needed this to be the person he was in season 5

After S5 and seeing how Kenny is, this is much more satisfying.
Well less in his hands and more on his foot
This is the dialogue of for Season 5 when Robby attempts to rejoin Miyagi-Do:
Daniel: What are you doing here?

Yeah but the darkness is his own. Like he said he has NO sides he is using everyone. Once that switch went off it wasn't cobra kai, Jonny or anything fueling him just him and his opponent. I was like KENNY RUN!!! 🤣
The core characters of the show aren’t truly evil if you ask me. Flawed, but still good inside.
He Stopped Treating Kenny Like a Joke- Showing Mercy & Went 100% Kenny will Take this Lesson & Apply if Learn from Failure,(Don't Rush in only a Fool does so),Wait for Moment to Strike than do so like a Snake #CobraKai
Man’s went from Anakin to Vader in 2 seconds flat
I like that Miguel, johnny and Daniel all knew EXACTLY what was happening to Robby. They saw the venomous corruption taking root in him
That kick sent kenny back to his brother from another dimension😂
Alternate title: Darth Vader vs Youngling
I like the Cobra kai Robby. He made a statement. The crowd felt his cold-blooded rage.
Dude Robby always looks like he is trying not to loose control and show respect. He kinda goes easy on them.Think how powerful he could be if he didn't hold back his punches. When he goes beast mode it is over for everybody
Love his acting... Yoh can definitely tell he switches from "friendly" to "combat" mode. No mercy, just teasing until u can finish
If Cobra Kai goes two more seasons I could see Kenny ending up as the final tournament antagonist. Kid is scoring points of Cobra Kai's best fighter while he's in middle school. Add two years of training and a growth spurt and the kid will be a beast. Plus he's a great tragic villain. At his core, Kenny is a good hearted kid who was pushed to far and then given the absolute worst advice at a critical stage in his life.
Kenny scored a point a Robby here cos Robby let him, once he got serious he didn't stand a chance
@@mrj4082Look at it again. He didn't "let" him. It legitimately took him by surprise because of the way he looked down at his chest after he was jabbed, then looked back up at Kenny in shock. After that, he looked back at over at Kreese.
@@handsomeX let me rephrase that: Kenny scored a point cos Robby went easy on him cos he trained Kenny. He may have caught him by surprise but once Robby got serious Kenny got destroyed
@@mrj4082 Ahh ok I see. To make it that far as a kid who has yet to go through puberty, and hang in there toe to toe against one of the best fighters in the Valley takes a lot of heart. I think Kenny has the highest ceiling of anyone there because of his natural athletic ability. There are many directions to go with that character moving forward.
@@handsomeX his ceiling is high but he didn’t hang in their toe to toe with Robby at all, he got destroyed, y’all gotta stop over exaggerating
One thing I liked about Robbie this season is that he has that same look that Hawk did when you can tell his personalities split, soon as kreese basically told him to fuck Kenny up. You can see robby goes from being normal into that animal mode
it was more like "lite" to normal mode though
Potato patato
Notice how Robby and most of the veteran Cobras are on Kreese's side of the mat, while Kenny and the newer Cobras eg Piper are on Silver's side of the mat.
why is that important?
@@leo.1146 well during in between points Kreese coaches Robby, and Silver coaches Kenny. Just like during the bet Kreese and Silver made, Kreese picks seasoned fighters while Silver picks newer fighters. Silver tends to favor Kenny more, despite the fact that he's arguably the smallest weakest Cobra. Just like how Silver was the smallest weakest member of his old squad in Vietnam, he was even nicknamed Twig. Kreese only wanted strong fighters from the start, which is why in Season 3 he recruited more aggressive athletes and boots out weaker members, while Silver builds up weaker members, since he was weak himself during Vietnam.
@@XFactor5a thanks for the explaination
@@XFactor5a or he may just picked people with no previous loyalty to Kreese
Came here just for self satisfaction after watching this kid in season 5
The music that they used when Robby is staring down Kenny is just terrifying.
1:10 when I saw his face I knew Kenny was in for a whopping
Yep lol
nigga painted miguel on his face to make himself fight stronger crazy ass
As soon as that music hit lol
Looks like the T-1000 from Terminator 2. Just a machine. All business.
@@thedarkknight9153 nice analogy
Realistically, that kick shouldve knocked Kenny out. That would justify the audience reaction to the kick.
True, I think the producers had to seriously tone down the injury since this show is viewed by a younger audience. In real life, Kenny might have been knocked out cold and have multiple facial fractures.
I mean Johnny took a crane kick 30 years ago and we didn't even see a single bruise, just laying down for a couple of seconds
Bro, Robby character is so good at acting he should join the star wars franchise and be a jedi using dark side powers! Check that Karate Walk style at 1:47! Such dark aura vibes!
Anakin would be proud of robby, he is a youngling killer
After Season 5 I love this scene a lot more now
For real
