    I was trying to create a series of wood textures, taking photos of planks of wood, then trying to make them seamless, with an end result that was less than satisfactory. Then thought there has to be a better way, what about Photoshop. Then came across these brilliant tutorials, now have some workable wood textures, thank you.

      That’s great, that’s exactly the point of making a texture vs taking a photo. It’s so hard to get even lighting.

    I tried the trick you did where you offset the bottom layer, moved it to the top and then put a mask on it. I tried it with my own texture, but the lines are still obvious when brushing over with the black. Does it only work for certain types of textures?

      The letter v on the keyboard is a shortcut to get to the Move tool, this will bring up the anchors so that you can adjust and resize objects.
