The skill these guys have is amazing! It is so worth the money to have such talented people mud the seams. My husband has fixed a few holes in our walls over the years, and has done a beautiful job, but we hired out for our basement room. Worth every penny! :D
I remember how much you struggled in the beginning with finding work crews willing to come to you. The wait was definitely worth it. You've had some amazing professionals on the house build and these guys are a shining example.
I agree on bi fold option, for what it is worth. Considering the difficulty you had in your initial attempts to secure contractors, you have done very well with your trades. You should be very satisfied as you have put together a great plan and executed it well!!!!!!!
I know you never wanted to be GC on this project, but was forced into it. I can see you are not thrilled with that role. I think you are doing a fantastic job as GC. You are avoiding being a hero by trying to do everything yourself. Hang in there man. it will eventually be mostly finished (it will never be finished). Way later than you hoped and planned for sure. You got this! Great job.
Jeremy and Jaime it is now really looking like a home with the dry wall done! It is so nice to see all the work that is being done and your getting closer. Jeremy, it sure is nice to have good drywallers that know what they are doing. The guys sure did a great job!
You can get (or build) double bifold doors for the closet, will halve the opening swing area you need... just get solid wood doors, cut the doors each down the middle and put hinges on them. 👍
That's their trade..they are used to that type of work and much more...I know many who do many side jobs and make more $$ than working for a company...they work hard and I appreciate their culture and food!
Texturing is probably the single most important thing to consider subbing out, if you are subbing anything out on a DIT home build. It is the one thing everyone doesn't notice if done by a pro..... and the one thing everyone does notice if done DIY : )
@@00HiGhGuY00 Good point. When the averager person walks into a house with a good drywall job and good finished texture work, you basically noticed everything except the drywall. It the drywall finish is bad......it screams : )
You have had some great contractors! Looks like these guys did a great job. I can hardly wait to see it finished. Keep up the great work! Blessings, Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇺🇸👍❤️🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
The drywall crew made it look so easy. They sure did a great job. Love seeing the progress on your house. Makes me excited to get started on our own ICF house soon.
Watching them work sitting on my behind doing absolutely nothing exhausted me. 😂 Those guys are amazing. They make it look so effortless and easy but I know it's not. The house is coming together beautifully and looks so amazing. Can't wait to see it when it's complete.
As you were watching these guys work weren't you glad at what agreat quick job they were doing since it was coming out of your guys pocket lol it really tourned out fab cant wait until next
Looks to me like 30 inch doors would work fine. I like that better than the pocket door. How great is it to be under roof and drywall done!!!!! You two are models in more ways than one! You are rocking those Ariat duds!
Why not use louver doors for the closet? These guys are using some cool gadgets I wish I had had when doing my walls. I love the way they work together, one after the other, in sequence, to get the job done, i.e., one tapes, one spreads, and covering drywall screws. They did excellent work. That high-rise platform you bought has really been used a lot. It was well worth the purchase, in my opinion. And will be, even when the house is finished.
greetings jeremy; please pass this along to your drywall crew (to no avail but......). convey my impressed opinion to them for their work ethics and apparent ability to get the job done right..............g
Having done a lot of taping and mudding myself, if it ever needs doing again, I'll do my best to hire it out!! These guys are good! I love the tool they use to apply the tape. Wish they had that when my dad was teaching us kids how. ( He was in construction and we lived in an old farm house so we did all the remodeling ourselves).
??? How about putting some High End bi-fold doors on that closet. I think that would be outstanding as those doors are going to frustrate you if they hit the bed. You can find some great designer ones that would look awesome
Its amazing how much just the drywall and mud brightened up the house! I'm still in complete awe of that view from the deck.....just breathtaking. I was thinking about the price of lumber and was wondering how much you guys were able to pre-purchase before the price gouging began. Now it's doubled? Dang...... You may have to invest in a portable mill Jeremy and start cutting some of that downed timber up into usable planks. The way the prices are....could be worth it! Just a thought brother! Everything is looking great and looking forward to the next one!
Great to see it take shape over the last months.Looking forward to how floors are done in the USA.Every country has different ways of building houses ,so I find this particularly interesting..Loving your updates. Be safe and well folks.
Wow it's looking like a house nearly ready to move in! Fantastic progress I'm very excited for you both and this was a great video watching the men work.
Love the progress and awesome work by that crew! ... Personally, I'd avoid full swing doors and go bi-fold or siding closet doors. We swapped our by-fold doors with mirror sliding doors and it really opens up the space. It's also very nice way to have full length mirrors when getting dressed to look your best. ;-)
I know they can be seen as cheap, but I think sliding doors/folding doors would be fine for the closet. I think doors would be more annoying than anything. I would sooner hang a pretty curtain personally. lol We have mirrored sliding doors, and I bought a beautiful window cling to go on top of them, because waking up and seeing myself across the room freaked the hell out of me. LOL
Jaime!!! Hi Sweetie! Good to see you again! 💓 Jeremy, great work! Do those drywall guys have a channel? They should... they're really good. Enjoyed watching them work, and I'm SOOOOO glad you didn't take this on, yourself. That would have been terror for you. So close to the finish line! I see a wonderful Christmas ahead for you all, and I'm excited to see what comes next for you. Jaime, we miss you bunches, and my Mindy is now watching your canning videos. She came to me and wanted to tell me all about this awesome gal who was teaching her canning, and she was surprised "she" was my Jaime. :) We agreed you're awesome. 💓 Love you guys to bits, and thanks for towing us along! 💓
Lumber prices are INSANE! I was going to be adding a back porch to my cabin. Been talking with my guys. We are looking at milled lumber from a local sawmill. A bit cheaper. For an open porch, they think it would be o.k.
To your last point, we're still doing our foundation work ourselves, but at some point soon we'll need to start thinking about lumber... and, my goodness, the prices are just unbelievable right now. There don't seem to be any shortages with lumber any longer, so I just don't understand what's going on. Your place is looking great so far!
Love watching this project unfold. Learning a lot and the view is breathtaking! Perhaps have the master bedroom doors swing inwards or bifold doors? Just a thought.
I'm not sure what decorative styles that you're going for, but a door option for the closet, could be barn door style on the outside as a slider on a track. They make them in all sorts of sizes, styles, and colors. :) I am so excited for y'all. I bet you can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. You're so close to being finished!
Funny I watch this the day after I did my first patch, tape, and mud job at a lady's house and I'm going to sand and paint it today. Nothing like what your house took to finish but I like to see how things are done and to try them out.
A vacuum sander? pretty cool, you guys are making great progress, we still have to get ours started though we are not doing this type of build. I do plan on doing all inside work once it is weather tight to save costs.
I know it is too late now, but in our last house we had the closet door interference issue, a bypass door was the solution. She got to keep the double door look and it removed the swing issues.
I just cut a lot of my hair off. Not that much. But, 7 inches was a big deal. It was at my waist. I've been letting my gray grow out. It's been over a year since I colored it. It's been one heck of a freeing thing. And honestly, at 54, I wasn't as gray as I thought. I kinda like the REAL me! HA! Your hair looks great young lady!!!

Sliding closet doors or bifold doors. Gives you the ability to open the closet up without any blockage. Very simple. Vinny 🇺🇸
Except I’ve had both and hate both. 😑
You can get (or build) double bifold doors for the closet, will halve the opening swing area you need... just get solid wood doors, cut the doors each down the middle and put hinges on them. 👍

My question is whether they were a referral or if they just jumped in the back of Jeremy's truck while he was at the Home Depot?
Great contractors with a great general contractor too.

interesting sanding machines, hooked to a vaccum, way to go
Use either bi-fold doors, or a sliding door set..
The ceiling in the great room , will that be tongue and groove boards ?
Yes
Bi-fold doors would be a suitable solution for the closet.
all over this country immigrants are doing the hardest work. If you haven't done drywall it is hard to imagine how hard it is on your body.
Use sliding doors that are on tracks. No loss of floor space.
