Now that the Sheetrock is hung the tedious and time consuming process of taping and mudding the joints begins. They are applying 3 coats of joint compound which seems to take a long time because it has to be allowed to dry thoroughly between coats to prevent cracking and shrinking. After that the sanding happens and we'll be ready for texture, primer and paint!

I remember how much you struggled in the beginning with finding work crews willing to come to you. The wait was definitely worth it. You've had some amazing professionals on the house build and these guys are a shining example.
It's not over yet! Still having trouble finding a crew for the porch...
@@Guildbrookfarm if they're smart they'll fit you in for the free advert if nothing else.
@@Guildbrookfarm ?? What happened to your framing crew that framed the house
They are super busy as all good crews are these days.
The skill these guys have is amazing! It is so worth the money to have such talented people mud the seams. My husband has fixed a few holes in our walls over the years, and has done a beautiful job, but we hired out for our basement room. Worth every penny! :D
These guys make it look so easy. Great job.
Those drywall guys earn every single cent....that’s really hard work! Lunch was looking delicious 😋🌮🌮🌮
We have to appreciate how hard construction crews work. I hope they can go home and soak in a hot tub every night.
That's their trade..they are used to that type of work and much more...I know many who do many side jobs and make more $$ than working for a company...they work hard and I appreciate their culture and food!
I know you never wanted to be GC on this project, but was forced into it. I can see you are not thrilled with that role. I think you are doing a fantastic job as GC. You are avoiding being a hero by trying to do everything yourself. Hang in there man. it will eventually be mostly finished (it will never be finished). Way later than you hoped and planned for sure. You got this! Great job.
Jeremy and Jaime it is now really looking like a home with the dry wall done! It is so nice to see all the work that is being done and your getting closer. Jeremy, it sure is nice to have good drywallers that know what they are doing. The guys sure did a great job!
Love the use of the drywall knife @9:25!
Sliding closet doors or bifold doors. Gives you the ability to open the closet up without any blockage. Very simple. Vinny 🇺🇸
Except I’ve had both and hate both. 😑
bypass closet doors - slide to one side past each other and give great access. they hang from the top.
That was my thought also
I agree on bi fold option, for what it is worth. Considering the difficulty you had in your initial attempts to secure contractors, you have done very well with your trades. You should be very satisfied as you have put together a great plan and executed it well!!!!!!!
You can get (or build) double bifold doors for the closet, will halve the opening swing area you need... just get solid wood doors, cut the doors each down the middle and put hinges on them. 👍
That's what I was going to suggest.
Amazing to watch the plastering, really professional work.
You have had some great contractors! Looks like these guys did a great job. I can hardly wait to see it finished. Keep up the great work!
Blessings, Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇺🇸👍❤️🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
The drywall crew made it look so easy. They sure did a great job. Love seeing the progress on your house. Makes me excited to get started on our own ICF house soon.
Those guys know what they're doing I'm sure they'll get plenty of work after people watch this video.
Yeah they have no trouble getting work 😏
Texturing is probably the single most important thing to consider subbing out, if you are subbing anything out on a DIT home build. It is the one thing everyone doesn't notice if done by a pro..... and the one thing everyone does notice if done DIY : )
drywall texture of ANY kind is ALWAYS noticeable, regardless of how well it was done.
@@00HiGhGuY00 Good point. When the averager person walks into a house with a good drywall job and good finished texture work, you basically noticed everything except the drywall. It the drywall finish is bad......it screams : )
With every new episode, it is becoming a wonderful home. Jamie, I LOVE your haircut!!
Plastering is a skill AND hard work. Professional make it look so easy... then you give it a go 🥵
Watching them work sitting on my behind doing absolutely nothing exhausted me. 😂 Those guys are amazing. They make it look so effortless and easy but I know it's not.
The house is coming together beautifully and looks so amazing. Can't wait to see it when it's complete.
Incredible drywall crew, skills.
These guys again, theyre badass. They make it look so easy.
I don't know how you found those guys, but they are awesome in their work.
??? How about putting some High End bi-fold doors on that closet. I think that would be outstanding as those doors are going to frustrate you if they hit the bed. You can find some great designer ones that would look awesome
Fantastic crew, fabulous home!!! PS Jamie, I love the short hair!!! TY
Why not bifold doors? They are used extensively on the west coast in cramped spaces.
It helps to have the right equipment and a good team working together! GOOD JOB GUYS👍
That drywall crew is super clean and does good work!
They really have a great taste in food at lunch time too!
These guys are real craftsmen!
Wow. what a difference it makes from just seeing the studs. nice.
As you were watching these guys work weren't you glad at what agreat quick job they were doing since it was coming out of your guys pocket lol it really tourned out fab cant wait until next
Jaime! Great to see you, lady! 😊
Now I can see your vision, looks good!
jeez those sheetrock guys really rock, they have all the neat tools.
no sheet rock for the ceiling? BTW I love the look of your hair. Reminds me when I saw you the first time when you taught me how to can butter.
House and hair are both looking great!
Looks to me like 30 inch doors would work fine. I like that better than the pocket door. How great is it to be under roof and drywall done!!!!! You two are models in more ways than one! You are rocking those Ariat duds!
Those drywall worker are awesome, they did a real good job
Glad you sub'd the drywall. Would have taken weeks to do it yourself! I'm guessing wood is going wway up on the great room ceiling? Nice! 💕
That's the plan!
greetings jeremy; please pass this along to your drywall crew (to no avail but......). convey my impressed opinion to them for their work ethics and apparent ability to get the job done right..............g
I know they can be seen as cheap, but I think sliding doors/folding doors would be fine for the closet. I think doors would be more annoying than anything. I would sooner hang a pretty curtain personally. lol We have mirrored sliding doors, and I bought a beautiful window cling to go on top of them, because waking up and seeing myself across the room freaked the hell out of me. LOL
Having done a lot of taping and mudding myself, if it ever needs doing again, I'll do my best to hire it out!! These guys are good! I love the tool they use to apply the tape. Wish they had that when my dad was teaching us kids how. ( He was in construction and we lived in an old farm house so we did all the remodeling ourselves).
God bless the workers of the world because I could never. So...much...work. It's looking good!
Hey there lady I like your new hair style. The home is coming along beautifully. You two can be proud. Thank you for sharing.
Its amazing how much just the drywall and mud brightened up the house! I'm still in complete awe of that view from the deck.....just breathtaking. I was thinking about the price of lumber and was wondering how much you guys were able to pre-purchase before the price gouging began. Now it's doubled? Dang...... You may have to invest in a portable mill Jeremy and start cutting some of that downed timber up into usable planks. The way the prices are....could be worth it! Just a thought brother! Everything is looking great and looking forward to the next one!
Why not use louver doors for the closet?
These guys are using some cool gadgets I wish I had had when doing my walls. I love the way they work together, one after the other, in sequence, to get the job done, i.e., one tapes, one spreads, and covering drywall screws. They did excellent work.
That high-rise platform you bought has really been used a lot. It was well worth the purchase, in my opinion. And will be, even when the house is finished.
they do a good job and are fast. Nice video.
Great contractors with a great general contractor too.
Oh my word! Y'all have a real house!❤🏠💖
all over this country immigrants are doing the hardest work. If you haven't done drywall it is hard to imagine how hard it is on your body.
Lumber prices are INSANE! I was going to be adding a back porch to my cabin. Been talking with my guys. We are looking at milled lumber from a local sawmill. A bit cheaper. For an open porch, they think it would be o.k.
Wow it's looking like a house nearly ready to move in! Fantastic progress I'm very excited for you both and this was a great video watching the men work.
So much progress! Congratulations you two!
Oh how great when you can get a crew to do the dry wall, taping and mudding. What a time saver.
My question is whether they were a referral or if they just jumped in the back of Jeremy's truck while he was at the Home Depot?
Great to see it take shape over the last months.Looking forward to how floors are done in the USA.Every country has different ways of building houses ,so I find this particularly interesting..Loving your updates. Be safe and well folks.
Bifold doors or 2 sliding doors that overlap each other would be a good solution. That final view is gorgeous! :D
Looks easy, but it isn't so easy. Good crew with excellent lunch taste! Up here we still do a lot of blue board and plaster skim coat.
Looking good guys and gals! Looking good. I know it's too soon but i can't wait to see the appliances get installed.
Wow!!! It's looking great!
Jaime!!! Hi Sweetie! Good to see you again! 💓 Jeremy, great work! Do those drywall guys have a channel? They should... they're really good. Enjoyed watching them work, and I'm SOOOOO glad you didn't take this on, yourself. That would have been terror for you. So close to the finish line! I see a wonderful Christmas ahead for you all, and I'm excited to see what comes next for you. Jaime, we miss you bunches, and my Mindy is now watching your canning videos. She came to me and wanted to tell me all about this awesome gal who was teaching her canning, and she was surprised "she" was my Jaime. :) We agreed you're awesome. 💓 Love you guys to bits, and thanks for towing us along! 💓
Love seeing all the progress!!!! I can’t wait to see it all finished. look for to watching more great progress videos. Awesome home. 😎🏡
Thanks so much!
To your last point, we're still doing our foundation work ourselves, but at some point soon we'll need to start thinking about lumber... and, my goodness, the prices are just unbelievable right now. There don't seem to be any shortages with lumber any longer, so I just don't understand what's going on. Your place is looking great so far!
It is all slowly coming together for you guys. It all looks really great. Thanks for the videos of your progress.
Love the VIEW down over the Valley.
You’re doing a great job modeling the clothes and a fabulous job on the drywall. I’ve done that my self and it’s hard work.
Yes you are wearing that cut and it makes you look cool and youthful; I just love your thick hair, rock it girl do it.
Are you completely on topic with a pocket door? If you did sliding doors you wouldn’t have to built out anything and they don’t swing out. I have sliding mirrored doors on my closet and love it.
Man!!! That view, I just love it.
i cant wait to see it finished love you all.
Awesome!!...moving on to the next step..wooooohooo
Funny I watch this the day after I did my first patch, tape, and mud job at a lady's house and I'm going to sand and paint it today. Nothing like what your house took to finish but I like to see how things are done and to try them out.
Love the progress and awesome work by that crew! ... Personally, I'd avoid full swing doors and go bi-fold or siding closet doors. We swapped our by-fold doors with mirror sliding doors and it really opens up the space. It's also very nice way to have full length mirrors when getting dressed to look your best. ;-)
Use sliding doors that are on tracks. No loss of floor space.
Amazing drywall workers! Almost there!
Best way to eat lunch. I’m hungry now. Really nice turn out with the drywall.
It's so nice seeing it all come together..
Have a good day 🌷🌷🌷
It has gone from cool to .... Awesome!
You gotta plan for keeping all the heat out of that ceiling? That could be a beast to heat.
Going to be beautiful!
Thought for the closet doors. Accordion doors like roll-top desks. Just a thought. Those guys are GOOD.
You've come a long way. It looks good.
Hi Jaimie!!! Your home is looking great!!!
I just cut all my hair off too! Everything is looking great!
Congrats on the milestone!!!
Bi-fold doors would be a suitable solution for the closet.
looking good
Solution to the closet door situation might have been a set of bi-fold doors.
Taping with a banjo speeds things up
The remaining 40% of seemingly 'never ending details' .. well, imho, adds spice to life. Minimalism, the path to perfect luxurious decor.
interesting sanding machines, hooked to a vaccum, way to go
Congrats on the milestone
Great video thanks again
Looks good
I'm not sure what decorative styles that you're going for, but a door option for the closet, could be barn door style on the outside as a slider on a track. They make them in all sorts of sizes, styles, and colors. :) I am so excited for y'all. I bet you can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. You're so close to being finished!
Why not sliding doors for the closet? Only half is accessible at a time.
Each side would be open 36 or so inches.
A vacuum sander? pretty cool, you guys are making great progress, we still have to get ours started though we are not doing this type of build. I do plan on doing all inside work once it is weather tight to save costs.
Jamie, you look like a pixie with your new hair cut. Fits your personality.
House looking wonderful. I have been concerned about your lumber needs in this pandemic housing bubble. Big problem is that there is no end in site. Money, money, money - like who has gotten triple increase in income in 2020-21(unless you are a really big 1 percent CEO). Still, your investment in quality and doing it right will last into the distant future. Keep going!
Love your hair and the view .
The textured walls sound interesting. I was wondering though if they will collect dust more easily. But the look sounds great.
Love watching this project unfold. Learning a lot and the view is breathtaking! Perhaps have the master bedroom doors swing inwards or bifold doors? Just a thought.
