Tarikh is a daily Hindi programme in which we present you with incidents and stories of noteworthy persons and Incidents. In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about The Red Fort, also known as Lal Qila, is a historic fortification located in Old Delhi, India. It holds great significance in Indian history and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The construction of the Red Fort began in 1638 and was completed in 1648. It was commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, who is famous for constructing several architectural marvels, including the Taj Mahal. The Red Fort served as the seat of Mughal power for nearly 200 years, from its completion until 1857. It witnessed the glorious rule of various Mughal emperors, including Shah Jahan, Aurangzeb, and Bahadur Shah II. The Red Fort was renowned for housing the Peacock Throne, a magnificent throne embedded with precious gems, including the Kohinoor Diamond. However, during the invasion of Nadir Shah in 1739, the throne and many other treasures were looted and taken to Persia.
After the failed Indian Rebellion of 1857, the British exiled the last Mughal Emperor, Bahadur Shah II, and took over the Red Fort. They used it for military purposes and made significant alterations to the original structure.
India gained independence from British rule in 1947, and the Red Fort became an important symbol of the country's freedom. On August 15, 1947, the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, hoisted the Indian national flag from the Red Fort, marking the official declaration of independence. Since then, it has been a site for hosting the annual flag-hoisting ceremony on India's Independence Day.

If you think 1857 was joint effort of Hindu Muslim against British then you are wrong!!!
It was Jehad against Hindus to re-establish muslim rule as they were not happy with the declining of Mughal rule !!’ So that’s why the Sikhs fought with the British!!!
The Sikhs,and Gurkhas - supported the British. This was partly due to their fear of a return to Mughal rule.

I remember , in mid nineties in my presence Amin Saab (Ex. VC of Hamdard University in Delhi reason out same question by narrating one incident from rural Haryana at time of just before independence : some congress worker informed villager that : desh azad ho raha hai, Angrej jaa rahe hai. Villager said in return - accha tohh phir Mughal aa rahe hai. Somehow that feedback reached congress leadership and they understood the situation.

The Red Fort was built by Maharaj Anangpal in1060 Ad.. There are elephants statues in stones at the entrance of Red Fort.. The ceiling has Lotus and Bananas motifs that are present in most Hindu Architecture
The Qutub Minar has Hundreds of bells and Lotus motives all around

Persian Ambassador visits Shahjahan in 1628 and he is welcomed in Red Fort ...(all records are always there of foreign visitors)
So if Persian Ambassador meet Shah jehan in Darbar e aam in 1628 ,why the construction of red fort is mentioned 1638 -46
