Kirknewton Railway Station, The WCML / Shotts Line

Kirknewton serves the nearby town of that name and lies on the Edinburgh branch of the West Coast Main Line. It is mainly served by trains that run on the Shotts Line and has an hourly service generally. It has a level crossing that is the site of a number of incidents and having no pedestrian bridge the passengers also use that route. It had a bay platform for trains on the Slateford to Balerno that closed to passengers in 1943.
