I saw that kit at Advance Auto Parts a few weeks ago. I was wondering how/if that would work. Thanks for the upload! I see now that it works great! Sounds meaner and gives me slightly better fuel economy. Went from 27.2mpg to 29.1mpg.
You should wrap your intake tube in gold reflective heat tape, because replacing the plastic air box with a metal pipe in turn increases your intake temps. It's louder, and more air, but over time (and if it is aluminum that is a very short time) it will heat up and at that point is not a cold air intake. Heat soak kills intakes since most of them are metal. Nice work though. Also the spoiler reminds me of what RoadRaceMotorsports made, just a little less tall. Which is MUCH better because they went off the deep end with their spoiler. Way too tall. Looks like a damn nascar spoiler on theirs lol
buy a K&N typhoon intake guys, its american made with lifetime warranty and the filter isn't hiding where you cant get to it, did I mention it proven horsepower
I've got the spoiler that sits flush and just hangs over quarter panel from the deck lid, and i only got it for $65. I left it in blk cause it goes good with the citrus peele and blk contrast. your design looks pretty cool and unique so definitely go for it. I ended up ordering the same drop springs u got so can't wait for fedex driver! haha. 18 " rims go on saturday.
Your idea is great man! an they do sell a spoiler like that but its only carbon fiber but it's expensive they sell it at modernperformance.com but go with your idea cause it's unique an different, it's about making the car your style an what you like.
I hear Ya. I'm the same way. I'm not going to spend over 150 USD on metal or aluminum when I can get it cheaper and it does the same thing as the expensive part. does
why did you buy the bigger intake? I bought the 3 inch one and used a smaller pipe so it would fit into my stock air box so I wouldn't get any water. also I used a little breather for the hose and my dart runs amazing.
you got lucky @15k miles they replaced the TCM, ECM and all wheel hub bearings. at 33k they did the same, till the update came out at just recently the my dart is well :) my customizations start soon ill keep my eyes on your videos and any other vids to help me along the way!
i wanted to do that too, what size tube did you use? oh yeah and the baffle thats under the engin cover i removed mine added a whole load of silicone wrape military kind, my brother took some from work but yeah! and thats a great idea any size on the tube you used?
Hey I was wondering if you could help me. I have a 2014 Dodge Dart GT and I had an accident. The bodyshop changed the bumper but when they installed the bumper it's kinda crooked. Do you know how I can fix it???
+Marco Chavez it may be a %5 increase over stock but its nothing you are really going to feel. anything over stock helps make more power but nothing super significant when you do an intake.
i have seen others just take off the wheel and the inside wheel well panel and get to it rather then take the whole bumper off. but this guy seems to know whats up. good Job.
Hey man, you make some awesome videos, especially for us Dart owners. I like the duck tail spoiler idea. Have you seen the one that RoadRace Motorsports offers? Here is the link: roadracemotorsports.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=141_197_199&products_id=2391. They offer it in carbon fiber and fiberglass, but I like your design better. Let me know what you think. Thank you
Dude.. that intake piece isn't metal... It's an Aluminum/plastic piece... you lose, not make, gains with it... 1. you didn't replace the rubber part of the intake coming out of the engine cover so the airflow is still just as restricted with the stock airbox... 2. it's not metal... that plastic absorbs heat so much more than the stock airbox... i've seen those pieces melt and go into the intake. (if that's the autozone part im thinking of) I get that you wanna save money... but all you're paying for is intake "sound" no performance, no better airflow, no better intake temps.
Actually metal heat soaks more than plastic. That's the reason you see more and more new cars with plastic intake manifolds. One of the biggest reasons K&N intakes are plastic. Keeping the plastic piece is actually better than having the full aluminum intake to keep temps down. As far as air flow, unless you have a air flow meter there is no way to tell if it's more restricted or not. All you can go by is the complexity of the system you put in compared to the original design. Another thing is the computer has a tolerance level and will compensate for differences it sees. As long as you stay within the rage you don't get a check engine. But all in all the numbers are negligible when it comes down to it and it has become a highly heated debate at times. No need to start a pissing contest lol but like everything else I like to back up what I say so feel free to look it up. AVOID FORUMS they are only full of opinions and mud slinging in both ways. Thank you for the input keep them coming.
But plastic melts. metal doesn't. My friend had one of those in his dart, and a piece melted off in the adapter and it went through the throttle body. And forums are one of the best places for information... IF you talk to the right people. Each and every dart VENDOR and representative of dodge, as well as some of the engineers who built the dart have come to the conclusion that silicon or metal has proven to be the best and most efficient material for the intakes on our darts. the K&N intake made for the dart is metal as well... 350$ for a 3.2hp gain on the dyno is ridiculous.
+MrSPYGOT like I said before its all about who you speak to... It's a debate that goes back and forth. With little to no facts to back it up. In the end of the day it's just an intake and NO significant gains are going to come out of it. If you want real gains you will have to do much more than a silly intake. I am currently building a street/race car stay tuned and watch. If you want to get the heat exchange rate here is the formula try it out V = K ΔT/d there is some difference but like I said it's not much of a difference. V : Heat Transfer Rate, in Calorie/cm^2.s K : Thermal Conductivity Constant, Calorie/cm.C.s, Check followed table for common material Thermal Conductivity Constant ΔT: Temperature Difference, in C or K d: Distance, in meter
Ok comment #2: why even bother doing your own custom air intake if it's a half assed job? Meaning, the most shitty restrictive part (s) is still there. You know where the plastic intake becomes essentially flat behind the block? What's that letting in, an inch of air? 🙄
My Dodge Dart is a piece of shit! I have four people I know who have darts and every single one of us have had insane problems mine will be a trade In soon!
You never unplugged your battery. It's always important when changing parts that you do this, in order to reset the ECU.
I saw that kit at Advance Auto Parts a few weeks ago. I was wondering how/if that would work. Thanks for the upload! I see now that it works great! Sounds meaner and gives me slightly better fuel economy. Went from 27.2mpg to 29.1mpg.
I like the spoiler. I myself just picked up a dart last week and have been looking for cheap mods I can do. I also like the cai you did.
i like the spoiler idea it looks great
dove tail will always look great on the darts
I love the spoiler idea
I think that the spoiler would look great! If it was me that is what I would do with my GT Dart!

@Curby Squad do you have a link for that spoiler?
Jeremy Look at this on eBay www.ebay.com/itm/252049128436
I saw that before. Thats only installed with tape right?
Jeremy yup, I wouldn't recommend using the tape it comes with. get a better quality 2 face tape
I love the idea
Like the spoiler idea
Do you recomemd deerpark or aquafina to stay hydrated? I heard deerpark gives you 5 more hp over aquafina
so on the dart forums, I found a guy who used a neon sxt spoiler that looked awesome, incase you're still looking!
Your idea is great man! an they do sell a spoiler like that but its only carbon fiber but it's expensive they sell it at modernperformance.com but go with your idea cause it's unique an different, it's about making the car your style an what you like.
I love it I need one for my Dart
its never too early for a beer
that's what I tell my GF
I hear Ya.
I'm the same way.

great vid! I have 2014 Dodge Dart GT have you had any troubles with the Dart before you customized it??
no problems at all.
you got lucky @15k miles they replaced the TCM, ECM and all wheel hub bearings. at 33k they did the same, till the update came out at just recently the my dart is well :) my customizations start soon ill keep my eyes on your videos and any other vids to help me along the way!

+TronD3v1l 672 Its a 3" pipe really you can buy the tube at any advance or auto zone. fits right in
Hey I was wondering if you could help me. I have a 2014 Dodge Dart GT and I had an accident. The bodyshop changed the bumper but when they installed the bumper it's kinda crooked. Do you know how I can fix it???
Any recommendations on how to make the exhaust louder without making it sound like a ricer? and not buying a $400-700 dollars exhaust system.
I had a local exhaust shop do mine. Cost around $300 to get it done. Check it out let me know what you think. ruclips.net/video/gZAzz_T8PQo/видео.html
What was the part number that you used?
who makes that cold air intake. thinking about doing this to my dart
You can get the tube and cone filter from any autozone or advance. Between the the two it was about $85 total.
@@RIPMotorsports I was wondering the same thing. Where and what was the brand, but know I know. You made that bumper pull look easy A F
What do you think your car would do against a 2015-17 200 S V6?
Lol if I still had the dart the 200 s v6 would smoke the dart hands down. Now with my current cars 🤔 well that may be different
where do you get the arts
did u see any gains with this I wanted the Mopar intake Caz my dart has the custom Mopar hood to get the ram air function
+Marco Chavez it may be a %5 increase over stock but its nothing you are really going to feel. anything over stock helps make more power but nothing super significant when you do an intake.
it won't be so bad if you don't go on dirt roads, then you won't have to change it as much or clean
did u ever make the spoiler for yoir dart yet ?
Not yet but I will be soon
+RIPMotorsports1 please do it looks sweet. Modern performance release one that's kind of similar. Ducktail would really finish off the end of the car.
Do you have to take the bumper off to change the filter?
Yes the bumper has to come off
i have seen others just take off the wheel and the inside wheel well panel and get to it rather then take the whole bumper off. but this guy seems to know whats up. good Job.
Ok😂😂😂😂 thanx man!!!
Did it throw a check Engine light ?
Bc it came on with my dart
No it did not throw a check engine light.
Why mine did?
hey is at possible to hydrolock your engine with this air intake?
blastro91 yes that's why you buy a smaller one that fits into your air box like I did with mine
blastro91
Not unless it sucks water directly in through your intake.
Where did u get that intake from
He is getting all his upgrades from www.modernperformance.com/category/13-16-dart-24l-air-intake
where do u get the parts
oluscottxxx depends but I got those parts at Autozone.
Yo iba a comprar ese mismo intake but decia en la parte de atras que solo le servian a otros modelos como honda Acura etc
Nathan Benitez yes but it will work on this car as well. It’s not meant for it by the package standards but it will work
RIPMotorsports1 y ahora me prende el check engine
Nathan Benitez I never got a check engine on mine. Make sure all the connections are correct and that the air sensors are hooked up correctly
Only 3min in, but why TF are you removing the bumper if you're just doing a full air intake? And why is everyone commenting shit about spoilers? 😅
Are your cars manual or automatic?
Both are auto
Will cold air intake get too hot?
No it's still at normal temperatures because it's getting colder air from the front
Ok... Is it the plastic one from autozone...
I just want to make sure its the one i got...
Love the darts... 😄😄😄
+Cedric Gullett it's the aluminum one they have
that looks like a pain to change the filter
Yea it will be lol
Thats what I was thinking. Can you remove the filter from the top or remove the front.
Remove the tire and then remove the mud guard. It’s right there. Just another way to get to it
