    I went down the rabbit hole of buy a lot of 3D terrain, Dwarven Forge, Warlock tiles, and off brands. I have to say now after many years that I have used them a lot. Looking back I should have just crafted my own and would have been a lot cheaper and I didn't need as much as I bought. Also I literally have 100s of miniatures and Skinny Minis. My obsession took control of me. I did get into painting minis and that is very calming and I also make terrain now.

    I have spent thousands on all of that stuff. If you are the person who is going to spend a lot of money on miniatures and terrain, don't, just buy a 3d printer, you will save yourself a fortune in the long run. Minis, terrain, combat risers, trees, furniture, buildings, the files are all out there (except draconians, apparently), free, and it is easy and fun. I have printed over 100 minis in the last month, I still have a little bit of resin in the £17 bottle I opened in July. slaad, slaad tadpoles, treants, monks, manticores and many, many more.
    one thing that is not on the list, is numbered or alphabetical base rings, to help keep track of which un-named, grunt 0rc, goblin, bandit etc. is which. You can print them too.
    Don't spend a lot of money on single sets of dice, a few three quid resin sets will be good enough, unless what you really want to do is test them, they are balanced to better than 99%.
    The rest is just fluff, you don't need anything branded or expensive, just whatever suits you.

      I have found condition rings to be a genuine necessity when I play IRL (not as much on VTT as many have their own marking system for me to use).

    I love a good dice tower. The dice make satisfying clonking noises as they fall through them, it feels like they’re well rolled, and it helps contain the dice as you roll them. Unnecessary, but nice.

    A bit niche but I bought a tv to play 3D maps on. Best financial decision ever. A 3D printer also can be worthwhile

  • @ascottbriscoe
    @ascottbriscoe 7 дней назад

    So for the bouncy dice (and I know this from experience)... if you have a really solid dice tower, you can just throw the dice as hard as you can and (if you're accurate) the dice bounce around in the tower a very satisfying amount of time before they drop.... be ready to stop them from flying out of your dice tray

  • @aartadventure
    @aartadventure 2 месяца назад +2

    The dice alone are hilarious.
    Cashier: Just so you know, people have complained these dice are too bouncy
    Dice Goblin: I don't mind
    Dice Goblin at home: These dice are too bouncy. Time to buy more!

    I love a nice smelling candle - HOWEVER - my biggest issue with many scented candles is that there is often a component of the scent that sears my sinuses. My wife now has me sniff test them at the store before purchase to make sure she doesn't buy another one that makes me feel like I just snorted chlorine. I'm sure other people have scents that they're either put-off by or have some really bad associations with (smell being so strongly tied with memory) that this is one thing you'd want to check with the play group in advance.
    Beyond that I invested in a couple of 3D printers (both a resin & a filament) so I can print minis, monsters, terrain, & props. Plus paints for them. It's definitely an investment in time and money, but being able to print what I want and then make it look how I want is pretty valuable compared to buying them all. There are a ton of models that 3D modelers put out there completely for free, which I think is just fantastic!

    That Area of Effect template is great. I have one as well. Its made by Guilt Free Games. There are some other knock offs out there from china but there measurements are slightly off. Be sure to get the Guilt Free Games one. They make some other really cool stuff too including the condition markers and some cool bags. It looks like you own the Guild Free Gaming one but linked to the Chinese one in the description. I'd recommend switching that. It is a better product.
    I also have potions but they are ones I made and are in bigger bottles which is super nice. There was an online tutorial on how to make them. Then someone took that tutorial and did a kickstarter to sell them but you can make them super cheap on your own. I even added some red resin in there to make it look like a potion.
    For the silicon dice, I have a couple sets and I don't mind them. They roll good in a dice tower and if you just roll them into a tray and not drop them they are fine. But Fan Roll makes some amazing dice in general. Their liquid core are my favorite and I use them all the time. They are my favorite dice maker.

  • @GromMolotok
    @GromMolotok 12 дней назад

    I love the silicone dice I bought from FanRoll, which is also my favorite (but not only) online dice retailer. But they're functionally unusable on my away game rolling mat due to the bounce. So I only use them for home games, with my dice tower. That does a good job of keeping them under control.

    I’ve been playing for almost a year now, so I’m still kind of new at it; but this has been EXTREMELY informative. What is your monthly budget for D&D? I have bought dice sets from 98 cents a set to maybe $12 but that is a rare buy. The potion dice is a gift set. We use soda bottle rings for condtions. But some of my gamers will bring their rings.

    I really like the AOE templates and such, but I do find that it makes the game too... linear? I enjoy having things be up for a little bit of interpretation & to give the players a chance to react to the spells, rather than a spell just blanket reaching the exact point and hitting anything there. Plus a ruler does the same thing at the end of the day :P
    It's interesting to see just how many gadgets have been made for this game, and how little I own myself 😅

      A stream into a normal video is a hard transition generally I think. Stream can be so chaotic because you’re responding to people in chat and it’s live so you’re not doing a retake when you stumble or just loose your train of thought. I know I randomly just pause mid sentence all the time because my brain is just buffering because you’re aware of so many random things when streaming. There’s more going on than people realize I think. I’m honestly super impressed with how smooth the audio is considering the number of cuts that were needed to make it quick and short for RUclips

    • @ryanbrown8527
      @ryanbrown8527 Месяц назад

      @@Matziamousehouse That wasn't a stream, it was a scripted and recorded video. But. If you.. can..... only get one...... or..... two words... before ...... needing to..... cut.... to... a different take. RE-RECORD IT!

    • @Matziamousehouse
      @Matziamousehouse 19 дней назад +1

      @ you can literally see the stream chat on screen. And in the first 30 seconds of the video he says it is. If the attention span is too short to remember the beginning of an 18 min video 2 second clips are probably the right length for your content anyways
