  • Based on Terry Pratchett's Novel. On Discworld (a world carried by four elephants standing on a huge turtle in space), the young bard Imp y Celyn comes to Ankh-Morpork to become a famous musician, but a new guitar from a mysterious shop possesses him with a new kind of music - the Music with Rocks In. To make matters worse, Death, saddened by the death of his adopted daughter, has gone away to try and forget, and his granddaughter Susan suddenly has the family duty passed on to her.

I am in my late 60s and have read Terry's work from day one and I say he is a master of his art and the creature of the funniest smart comedy work since the Hitch hickers guide series. While the Reaper rode a wheeled machine

Seth Leoric the books cover the dwarven sexual revolution, basically female dwarves insisting it was okay to be different than male dwarves as outside of baby making dwarves recognized no difference. Dwarvish doesn’t even have a word for female.
They welded heels to their boots wore long kilts called “Dresses” and added color to their faces.
The one thing that even the most extreme of them would never consider was shaving their beards. It was one thing to not be male but to shave would be to be not a dwarf

Thankyou very much for this which, in my opinion, is one of those rare instances when the film/movie is better than the book! I don't say this lightly as I'm a huge fan of Pratchett's DiscWorld books but there are some very clever moments in the film that the book cannot give justice to. Especially the way each time the band plays it progresses through the stages of development that rock music followed. Starting with basic 50's rock through psychedelic to flower power, I thought this was a really nice touch. Also the puns of course, my favourite being a parody of Lennon's "We're more popular than Jesus" where Buddy says "We're more popular than cheeses" oh, so many good digs at those times.
