I saw a peregrine falcon doing barrel rolls around a bald eagle harassing the eagle from its territory. I witnessed this taking place above the tree-tops just below the rim of Crater Lake in Oregon. It was an amazing display. I also saw, at very close range, a goshawk fly up from the forest floor having just caught a large snake. It was very majestic. That was in Lassen National Park in Northern California.

Buzzards bully Goshawks on the ground and chase them from their nests. A peregrine is far more aggressive than a Buzzard, fact is Goshawks are cowards, they can not fight.

I once saw an accidental head-to-head matchup of these two. Peregrine was in full stoop; goshawk was ambush-hunting from a tall pine by a riverbank. The goshawk basically T-boned the falcon about 6ft off the water. Goshawk was tough enough to pull up, but the falcon couldn't; it most likely drowned.
My thing is peregrine's are fastest at a stoop or dive, but what if that misses. I've seen on national geographics pigeons evading peregrine stoops. Goshawks are very agile flyers and might be able to dodge, recover, and take the advantage. And for the record Swift's are the fastest flying birds in a straight line.
Horse in my opinion, it's stronger, faster, maybe smarter and just more built for fighting (compared to a *cow,* not a bull). It sounds like a bit of a queer idea though...

I agree because while on the ground or maybe a dense forest the peregrine would have a pretty hard time due to the goshawk being bigger, having stronger talons, and being able to maneuver through the trees but the peregrine is much faster in the air and on average falcons have more powerful beaks with that special tooth they have. So if the peregrine can get q good bit above the goshawk i think it could end it with a dive bomb.

Realistically if the peregrine falcons wanted to, they could kill any animals including humans, but they dont exist to eliminate other lives lol and also although they can be that one animal potentially can eliminate any other, its attacks can be very double edged, diving that high and fast can be fatal for both the falcon and the the other animal. Its like a kamikaze attack but if the timing is unlucky for the falcon, it can be suicidal or luckily a miss or a hit. The Falcon wins I get what your saying about the ground being the hawk. But let's all be real the fight is not gonna be on the ground it's gonna be in the air an there is no animal on the planet faster the a Falcon or more dangerous in the air
the goshawk is skilled in hunting prey at regular speed or on the ground so would likely win in such situations but the falcon has the most dangerous attack of any bird while diving at high speed and if caught in the open a goshawk would be at high risk. unlike larger birds including eagles they usually manage to avoid these attacks because they are small and agile.
What it doesn't say is the Goshawk will spook a Peregrine, Eagle, owl to make it leave a nest to the double round and grab chicks. This behaviour had been observed when population of voles and squirrels are low. Goshawk will adapt very quickly to survive.

I believe that the falcon is simply too quick for the hawk. That would give it a distinct advantage.
Not in a nest. Goshawk is the master at mid level flight at dawn so it blends wirh horizon and sun. Falcon would see it. Its chicks wouldn't.
On the ground or in closed vegetation: goshawk easily kills peregrine.
On open space: peregrine easily kills goshawk (if were of same size).

Realistically if the peregrine falcons wanted to, they could kill any animals including humans, but they dont exist to eliminate other lives lol and also although they can be that one animal potentially can eliminate any other, its attacks can be very double edged, diving that high and fast can be fatal for both the falcon and the the other animal. Its like a kamikaze attack but if the timing is unlucky for the falcon, it can be suicidal or luckily a miss or a hit. It all depends, but yes the peregrine falcons have the power to kill any animals including humans. They are like the bullets itself lol. And also fun fact, the egyptians hieroglyphs of their gods like horus and ra who represent somewhere high as the sky and the sun have peregrines falcon’s heads as their faces. They knew which animal can be the most highest and deadliest lol

Only people that have no idea about these 2 birds would even consider the question. I doubt a gyrfalcon female of 2kg can kill a male of goshawk of 800 gr. In falconry associations all falcon owners wants you to make sure your bird is well tied if it's a goshawk female.

the goshawk is skilled in hunting prey at regular speed or on the ground so would likely win in such situations but the falcon has the most dangerous attack of any bird while diving at high speed and if caught in the open a goshawk would be at high risk. unlike larger birds including eagles they usually manage to avoid these attacks because they are small and agile.
