Rhipsalis is my favorite plants. I have several and I have mine on the covered part of my deck. They get partial morning sun and are doing great. I live in Northeast Tennessee.
Nice to see you Melissa. Doing good with my plants in my house and added so mini Violets. Now working on more butterfly plants in back yard 🤞. Have milkweed but want other types .
I loooove my Rhipsalis, it's supper low maintenance and can handle lower light. I water mine when the leaves get soft kinda like little raisins, which is about once a month sometimes less. It also has supper cute yellow flowers when it's in brighter light. It's easy to propagate, you can pick off sections from its little nodes/joints, and they root up quickly in soil.
your self control is impressive, Melissa, buying only one Christmas Cactus!! I have 2 and hang them on the back deck during the summer, where they look magical at The Golden Hour, almost glistening. Thirsty little buggers though, which always surprises me since they look like cactus/succulents. thanks for the shopping trip where I spent not one cent LOL
That is a beautiful rhipsalis. I am getting my first one (cashiro) delivered today!! :-) I guess that I can look into how to take care of them. The Pink Trellis did a very nice video recently on the care of them.
Love your mistletoe cactus ! It is a jungle cactus so I do let dry out but I never let it stay dry before I water, kinda like Hoya. Also I snap or cut at the segments to root in soil or sphagum moss. Technology the aerial root along the stem with high enough humidity, so I’m assuming you could cut anywhere, let it callus and then stick it in soil or which ever you choose to propagate it.
Yayyy i lovethe vid! ❤❤ I just got a ring of fire at walmart randomly the other day, looks exactly like the ones u saw. Pretty Rhipsalis, i see a lot of neighbors hang this one on their covered porches here in sunny AZ 🌞 might have to put that on my wish list!
Rhipsalis. Is a very easy cactus. I keep mine in the windowsill of my west facing window. It tolerates it very well. Mine is over two feet long. It just keeps putting out new leaves and they first grow straight up then bifurcate and leans over to the ground. I don’t know if you can cut it and stick in water but I’ll bet you could just divide it through the roots and have two or more plants.
I had some decent luck lately in stores in my area. A chocolate anthurium, an 8 inch pot of moonlight philodendron, a green rex begonia, and a big pot of chocolate drop cactus.
i was finally able to snag a zz raven at Lowes on labor day! also impulse bought an alocacia silver dragon, and the same alocacia you saw here (my best guess is amazonica bambino?? not a label in sight.) very appreciative of your videos on alocacia care - i was going in blind but feel prepared now!
Definitely repot your Phalaenopsis. Most of the time they’re just in a ball of hard moss. With a really hard bunch shoved up in between the roots. I moved all of mine to Leca and they seem to be doing well. Just don’t forget the water! Take the same light as an African violet, to bloom. They are fairly easy to care for. Once you get one in your house and find its sweet spot. You’ll be inspired to get more! I’m in California. I’ve had them in an east facing window. Right now all of mine are in a west facing window in a greenhouse window. However, the greenhouse window does have treated glass to keep the damaging UV rays out. So they’re not getting bright sun like a typical greenhouse window. I can literally put a fern in that window and not have it burn. But the Phalaenopsis love it! I would say about the same light, or a little bit more, than you give your Maranta. If it is giving you growth but no blooms, bump the light a little bit more to a little brighter location. Like I said you’ll find its sweet spot. Then you can do like I do, and use a light meter. Measure the light in the successful spot. And then you’ll be able to easily find other locations that have that same amount of foot candles. And grow another orchid in that spot.
Good morning Melissa and everyone. I love your new plant...so cute🥰 Also, I haven't forgotten about you I still plan on sending you a hand made gift, but life is lifeing. Please be patient with me and just so you know it could take several months, but I will eventually get it to you! Enjoyed the video ❤😊
Thank you Dora and please don’t worry 💕 you don’t have to gift anything to me and if you decide to I will be so grateful but please take care of yourself first and foremost ❤️❤️
The difference in locations is crazy. I got excited for a Birkin at my Lowes/Rona. I always get jealous when I see people casually browsing all these desired plants meanwhile I basically have full rows of spider/snake plants (love to them).
Almost all of the ROF i see have the rust fungus. I think that it is rust fungus because i sprayed mine with copper fungus captain jacks once every week for a month and the spots are not coming on the new leaves
haha yes!! one of our neighbors keeps crotons on their front porch year round and they take such good care of them and they're pretty but it always reminds me of fall time 🍂
I got my mistletoe cactus about 2 years ago from Lowe’s and I love it so much! Very easy to keep and I just think it’s so whimsical and cute. I put it on a little skeleton plant stand from target for Halloween because it looks like hair 😂
Not sure what state your in but next time out at HD OR LOWES WOULD YOU LOO, FOR BETTER GRO BAGGED ORICDS . THEY ARE IN BAGS BUT THEY HAVE CATTLEYAS AN DENDROBIUM ORCHIDS !!!!
Just chop the rhyp and let it dry for 30 minutes to an hour. Then stick it in dry soil. Then water the next day. Keep it moist for a couple of weeks and it will have roots
I just went to Lowe’s the staff marked down 15 plants for me because they were upset the Manager was going to throw a whole bunch of plants away because it’s winter time and they have too many plants. All of my plants are in Pon, but my OG Monstera. I wrote the staff whom discounted me the plants a quick letter of Amazing customer service to give to their Manager. I spent $157 for 15 plants.
I found one at Lowes right before you posted this video and instantly fell in love. How do you propagate this plant? Would love to share it with the other women in my family. I wasn't so lucky. There was only one. Would have bought at least two if they had them.
Right! So pretty 😍 A lot of others shared their care tips in the comments :) I never owned one before but you would need to propagate at the node/joint.
Melissa and her husband have a large house but still have no place for more plants. This is a common problem for true and successful houseplant keepers. The healthy houseplants grow tall and wide quickly. They need more and more space.
I can’t believe you have a Home Depot to shop at that doesn’t murder all of its plants. The one near me absolutely never waters the plants because the vendor just absorbs the cost of the ones that die. It’s criminal! They often have really exotic plants and they always just let the die. It breaks my heart.
I love plant shopping therapy! 😂 💚🪴🌿
hehe yes!! 🤗
🪴🪴🪴
It’s always so crazy seeing plants at the big box stores that used to be $200+!!!
Yes!! I still can’t believe how much they used to cost when I first got into plants 🙈
I paid 90 for my plain monstera deliciosa back in 2019/2020.... 😂😂😂
I love window shopping with you 🤩 i get to shop and not take more plants home
I seriously have to go to Lowes and home depot soon. They have so many great varieties they didn't have years ago ❤❤❤
Rhipsalis is my favorite plants. I have several and I have mine on the covered part of my deck. They get partial morning sun and are doing great. I live in Northeast Tennessee.
Thanks for sharing!
Nice to see you Melissa. Doing good with my plants in my house and added so mini Violets. Now working on more butterfly plants in back yard 🤞. Have milkweed but want other types .
I’m always amazed that you can just look at a random plant and know exactly what plant it is. No matter the genus
It’s possible for anyone to do, given enough time, immersion and/or obsession. 😊 And not just with plants, but anything, really.
The plants look pretty healthy this time :) Thanks to whoever is taking care of them ❤
Good morning! Just starting some repotting, thank you so much! I hope you’re doing better, sending love 💕
Thanks sherry! 🫶🏻 I appreciate you for hanging out with me! 💕
I got mine too last month. I love it. What a great buy. Glad you decided to get it! 😊🪴

Hi!!! I know the feeling - I buy so many plants online, but its been a while since I've taken the time to wander through plant stores and relax
Yes!! It’s so Therapeutic 🫶🏻🥰

Love looking at plant stores. Thanks for taking us along for the tour!❤

That orange orchid is stunning
I think so too❤
Love when you take us shopping! So relaxing. 😊
Looks like your store has a lot of selection. Overhead coverage keeps them from being fried by the direct sun we get here!🌡☀️
Buy it! You won’t regret it. I have one and love to run my hands through the vines, leaves. It’s fun and they feel so cool. Get the rhipsalis.
Nice purchases! Thanks for sharing. Melissa!
I spent an hour staring at palms in Lowe’s just yesterday! I understand!
Hello from waco Texas ❤ the video i needed to see today! Thank you for your hard work!

@@plantsbymelissa no problem I’m glad you finally decided to get it.
Love your channel 🌹
Happy to have you here 🥰

I also found 2 small summer glorys, they have become one of my favorites!

Aw filming it soon probably this weekend! Sorry I got a little behind with it 🫶🏻
I'm surprised you had time to go shopping. But thank you, it was fun watching.

I almost never see Hoya at my big box stores 😩. I have that rhipsalis (or one very similar) in a face planter and I love her.
The difference in locations is crazy. I got excited for a Birkin at my Lowes/Rona. I always get jealous when I see people casually browsing all these desired plants meanwhile I basically have full rows of spider/snake plants (love to them).
I wish my big box stores had such great plants! It might be time for a field trip down to Atlanta.
My local garden centre was already putting up christmas decorations when I came by today 😅 Bought a philodendron melanochrysum!
whaa?? noo it's too early for Christmas stuff haha. good luck with your melano! 🫶
I seriously can’t resist full, bushy pots of anything! 😅
Yes!! I love full pots too so I'm always tempted when I see them lol
Almost all of the ROF i see have the rust fungus. I think that it is rust fungus because i sprayed mine with copper fungus captain jacks once every week for a month and the spots are not coming on the new leaves
You found 2 that I want the black pagoda and varigated lipsticks.I went looking today and found a curly lipstick.
24:24 escargot begonia! They get really big and swirly, in your care in pon it would be a monster in no time!
Thank you!!
Beautiful dracena.
Someone else I watch says if it’s fall it must be croton season. Lol 😂
haha yes!! one of our neighbors keeps crotons on their front porch year round and they take such good care of them and they're pretty but it always reminds me of fall time 🍂

haha love that!!
Did you see costa farms will be releasing the aurea and albo syngonium to big box stores this year!
No I haven't! That'll be cool to see in stores :)
Retail therapy is so good.
I remember a time when you couldn't resist just one more maranta😂
Wow, it is huge there! In Colorado the plant area is just avlittle bigger than 12x12 feet 😭
Some of the stores here have a pretty big garden center! 12x12 is definitely a small space🥲
In Oregon the houseplant area is small too. They have lots of outdoor plants but house plants are scarce.
Yes it’s a sign to get the rhipsalis
Not sure what state your in but next time out at HD OR LOWES WOULD YOU LOO, FOR BETTER GRO BAGGED ORICDS . THEY ARE IN BAGS BUT THEY HAVE CATTLEYAS AN DENDROBIUM ORCHIDS !!!!

I can always use a 4-5 inch pot.
Are you going to prop your snow capped begonia for sale?
I propped it already! I think a few videos back 😁 once they root & grow I’ll list them but it’ll be a while yet.
I would inspect that thoroughly for mealy bugs. I would even change the soil completely. Mealy bugs hide in plants like that at the very bottom.
I have it outside right now on my porch but I think I'll go ahead and repot it before I bring it inside. I don't need anymore mealies 😫
Home depo will be getting 5.98 Hoyas in , in 4 inch pots ... seen them on another channel ... So heads Up !
I wish your Lowe’s was my Lowe’s ☹️ I went the other day and all they had were a bunch of fiddleheads, parlor palms and mums 😂
🥲 oh no I'm sorry
💚
That’s what my husband always says lol
Does anyone know what the black and silvery plant next to the heart leaf philodendron at 23:39 is?
looks like Pilea spruceana
Is your hoya linearis ready yet. I want to buy from you. 😊
I sold a couple last week. I'm not doing a restock this Friday so I can catch up but I'll have some for the 13th restock :)
Ok, can you save one for me?😊@@plantsbymelissa
Rhipsalis capiliformis, do not let completely dry.
I got a Hoya from H Depot 3 weeks ago and this morning found thrips on it. It infected 3 of my alocasia too 🥲
noo I'm so sorry 😭 I hope your alocasias are okay! Hoping they go away quickly for you!
Oh no... I'm sorry that happened!
💚💚💚
Which store has a better selection of healthy plants in your opinion?
I’ve gotten good plants at both of them. I think it greatly depends on the location. Some stores are definitely better kept than others 😊
❤
Life is short get the plant lol😅
For sure! 💕🌿

🚨🚨Did anybody happen to know what alocasia that was? The first one she didnt know the name of? I have the same one and google is no help
Prices would be nice.
I said a lot of prices and the costa farm plants are the same prices all the time.
I want go with you.. why you go alone always?? iam kidding because I'm from middle east 🎉
