Boy Meets Girl ended up writing “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” for Whitney instead. Belinda recorded her version for her 2nd album, “Heaven On Earth”, but she hated the song, only recorded it because MCA Records forced her to. Ultimately it was indeed left off the album.
100% They wrote How Will I Know for Whitney, saw a shooting star at her concert and then wrote this absolute classic. Clive Davis said no but wanted to use the hook as inspiration for them to write I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
PS - Check out the Belinda Carlisle version. I know it's a demo and the mixing, vocals would've worked their magic, but boy, it's a tough listen. Boy Meets Girl totally did the right thing keeping it for themselves.

Groovy kind of love is not the worst song ever.... anything by Michael Bolton.....shake you down by Gregory Abbott...of course Richard Marx....and the worst song ever....seasons in the sun by terry jacks......but its awful.....phil has gone on record saying how much he hates it.....
