    As usual the 50s Kid makes a good video. I watched this after my AC stopped today. Went out and looked at my compressor before hitting SEND on that FCP Euro cart (compressor, oil). No belt. Or should I say - shredded belt. Car is 22 years old so of course I thought it was the compressor. Autozone - $16 - drive home. New belt installed in 5 minutes. Ice cold AC.

    Bro awesome video. To the point and good cam view. I have a question about the alignment of the pulleys. If they spin smooth with no wiggle does that confirm that the pulleys are aligned? I’m doing mine for the first time because I noticed my a/c belt has a split down the middle(long way)

    • @robdude1969
      @robdude1969  Год назад +1

      Yikes! Time to do it! If you have proper parts, they bolt into place perfect. Be sure they don’t spin super freely with any noise. They should have a little dampening built in. Pulleys are cheap. Cheers!

    • @robdude1969
      @robdude1969  Год назад +1

      If it spins very freely and you hear crunchy noise, it may be showing wear. There may also be a looseness feeling. The new ones feel snug and have a viscous slowness to spinning.

    Does anybody know if having no serpentine belt can cause the car to not have heat? I know it has to do with A/C but my car has had no heat and I’ve replaced every component, and my car has no serpentine belt. I bought a replacement and waiting for it to arrive but still just wondering if the absence of the belt can cause no heat. Thank you

    • @robdude1969
      @robdude1969  3 месяца назад +1

      Power steering, a/c, alternator run off these belts. Maybe because no alternator, you get no heater, but that’s an electric fan driving it. It should at least blow air with the engine off.

    • @bjornzek
      @bjornzek 3 месяца назад

      @@robdude1969 it blows air with engine off, it just doesn’t get hot. My alternator also gets charged fine as I’ve replaced the other belt prior. I’m honestly not too sure why I get no heat as I’ve replaced everything from heater core to all the coolant hoses and expansion tank. Honestly was just considering getting another car since winters coming up and I had to survive last New Jersey winter with no heat lol

    I’m unsure on how to take the fan off with non special tools

    • @reddragn4772
      @reddragn4772 3 года назад

      A lot of times you use a wrench and a hammer to undo it, but remember it is reverse threaded, also if you have an air hammer it helps

    • @S0SS0L
      @S0SS0L 3 года назад +1

      You don't need a special wrench - a standard open-end wrench will do, though it helps if it's extra long. I bought a cheap one at a farming supply store.
      The fan isn't torqued on, so it doesn't take much to loosen. If the belt is still in place, a smack with a hammer on the end of the wrench should be enough to break the fan loose. If the belt is already off, then you can fabricate a makeshift strap wrench to hold the pulley with a section of the belt and vice grip pliers.

      There 3 or4 torx 30 bolts on back of the plastic fan itself you gotta feel for em use an3/8 ratchet and the t30 and just remove the fan it gives you enough room and saves times
