    It's amazing how many people on RUclips messed this DIY up with poor camera angles and lighting, spending way too much time talking uneccessarily and cutting out the re-installation.
    Yours however was nice and clear, especially appreciate seeing both the hydraulic and spring tensioners off the car so I can see the bolt locations and sizes if I need to remove them (I don't know which one I have yet).
    Thanks.

    Excellent video man! My Serpentine belt broke last night on my way home from work & instead of panicking, I turned to RUclips & found your video! Hi Han, I just finished up fixing the X5 last night. Turns out the water pump went bad, froze up, and that is what threw the belts off. cracked the pulley as well.
    I put on a new pulley, tension pulleys, belts, fan clutch, and water pump. Runs like a champ now. Again thanks for the video. gave me all the confidence I needed to get the job done. Saved a ton of money doing it myself as well.
    Take care, and keep the videos coming.

    Wow, I literally just dropped the car off to the shop to get this done cus it was making a noise. You have the best video online on to how to change it. Every other person had some weird camera angle, and you were clear with how to change the stuff. I kinda regret dropping it off. I wanted to try to change this myself since I want to learn to do maintenance work in my 330ci bummmer.

      Really? even for someone that has never even changed a tire? The most diy I ever have done to a car was change the headlight bulb on a GTI. I want to buy the tools and take my car apart(as if I were doing this job) just to see if I could do it, and then put it together. Do you think that's a good idea?

    • @HansGarage
      @HansGarage  7 лет назад +3

      I'd say just dive in and see how far you can go! haha I didnt know anything about working on a car 3 years ago. I just loved figuring out how everything works. Best way to learn is to actually try out and see what you are capable of! Cheers!

    WARNING ⚠ Before you remove the upper pulley. Look behind the pulley where it mates up to the alternator. The backside of the pulley and the front side of the alternator have a special way of fitting together. You can't mess this up...if you do the pulley will not line up perfectly. Other than that great video

    I hear some noise around the belts and pulleys. But not sure what's causing it. If I remove the fan and shroud, I can see better. Even better if I can hear it. So, can I start the engine, with the fan and shroud removed? Thanks Hans.

    • @fjwong7337
      @fjwong7337 3 года назад

      The question is really how does I know whether it's the pulley or the tensioner that's bad. If I can take the fan and the shroud off, and start the engine, I can better ascertain which part (tensioner and/or pulley) is bad. I didn't suspect the tensioner, before watching your video. Thanks so much Han.

    I don’t get it people just keep buying new parts with out looking into how to fix one they already have
    More than likely you need it 6203RS bearing
