    Using a foam brush to apply mod podge eliminates the brush strokes of a regular paintbrush. :)

      You can also go over the mod podge with a sponge brayer that will get rid of the brush marks.

    If you have an airbrush, you can thin the modge lodge with water and use it in the airbrush. You’ll have to spray more layers but there will be absolutely no brush lines or foreign marks!

    • @LollyPalooza
      @LollyPalooza  6 лет назад

      that would be nice. I don't have an airbrush, but if I were to make several of these, it might be worth it!

      @@anitanieves5418 I have made t-shirts with plain acrylic paint, and had no issues with tossing it in the washer and dryer after the paint is dry. Acrylic paint stains the fabric anyway, so no sealer is needed in my experience.

    I've had the same problem with the appearance of brush strokes and found a pretty cool technique at modge podge rocks. She said that brushing in one direction while keeping the brush as straight as possible should help reduce the appearance of lines. I've tried using the foam brush but I still saw line. I'm not sure what will work best because I am still trying to perfect my technique but I'm sure it's worth a shot to try it out. :)

    I drew the outline of my design (photo), on the cup, using pva glue. Then the mod podge did not go everywhere on the glass. Simply lifted the glue off when all my mod podge coatings were done!

  • @hayl3y_br00k3
    @hayl3y_br00k3 3 года назад

    Just a quick question, do you HAVE to clean your mug off with rubbing alcohol? Or will the mod podge still work just washing the cup in warm soapy water?

    • @LollyPalooza
      @LollyPalooza  3 года назад

      I do both, but if you really do a great job and use adequate amount of dish soap to cut the grease, I would think you'd be okay

    Hi there Lolly P & fans! So can anyone tell me, if a dishwasher & microwave safe mug is then Mod-Podged encapsulating non-metallic paper, will it end up being BOTH dishwasher & microwave safe? Any hints on not having the Mod-Podge not causing printed on paper to not have ink run?

    • @LollyPalooza
      @LollyPalooza  3 года назад +1

      if there's any metallic properties, I would not put in the microwave. As for ink runs, sometimes I spray a project with Matte Fixative spray (let it dry) and then apply Mod Podge.

      @@LollyPalooza - your welcome - And thank YOU for making this video. I really like this idea - how well is it holding up under washing etc. since it has been over two years now?
      I made the mistake a few years ago of falling for the "Sharpie" gimic. Boy did I waste a lot of money and time only to be met with great disappointment and frustration. (Yes I used the oil based - and regular)
      No matter what method I used - and I tried all I could find thinking the problem was ME - the designs always began to wash away (I only hand washed them in warm water) the first washing. With Sharpie the colors - other than black - always changed with baking, and always began to wash off - the black I found to be the most durable of all sharpie colors - the silver and gold where the worst.
      I also tried Pebeo pens - they are only a little more durable than Sharpie, but they leave a slightly raised and design, not smooth like Sharpies, and feel a little like if one used silicon - they have a little rubbery/waxy feel.
      Anyway I write this for anyone thinking to use sharpie or Pebeo - they are a BIG disappointment and waste of time - I actually think the original Pinterest pins, and some Vids, where/are a paid advertisement by Sharpie to sell more pens = a big scam - these big rich companies don't care if they hurt the little guys - they just want more money.

    I am disappointed to report that the sealant did not work on my mugs. I waited 30 days. Areas where there were no design, meaning just the Mod Podge touching the mug, that was fine. Areas where there were designs, the designs bubbled up. The water seeped underneath the designs. Looking back: I used three coats, waited for the sealant to dry in between, waited for 30 days, put the mugs in the top rack of dishwasher and washed in cold water. Very disappointing. I plan to redo the mugs, seal the mugs (why not, since I still have a jar of Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge), wait 28 more days but hand wash the mugs.
