I need this. For now, I'm turning it into a dynamic stretch with no weight for my quads, hip flexors, and ankles, all of which have pretty terrible mobility. Maybe as they loosen I'll add a bottoms up kettlebell to help drive me down into better seize. Great movement. 👍🏻
Well then Mr Wildman, you took me back 20 years to my karate days. We would practice getting up from seiza as fast as possible. Our teacher called seiza a stance of vigilance. Iai Do was mentioned. And then he would have us practice getting up fast and getting down slowly, lots and lots of times. He would have us sit opposite each other and one would go first and the other would have try and get up as fast as possible. Waiting the other out while legs were going numb was not fun. But good training all in all.
After warm and after workout I usually do it without weights in a relaxing position. Also stay on it with one knee up and switch. Now I’ll do it as the master prescribed.👌🏽
Mark. Couldn't you use any of the weighted implements for this exercise? Like hold a club or mace in you right hand while you lean back and forward, then bring the opposite foot forward... Bring the foot back, then switch hands, lean back, lean forward and bring now opposite foot forward? Would doing this with a one handed weight be a bad idea? Next try it with a kettlebell help in the bottoms up two handed hold. Slam ball would probably be the most comfortable of the group.
Yes. It’s just the slam ball eliminates most of the ways you can cheat in this excercise. But you could do it with anything if you have good body control
Hey mark! I just bought a 20kg USI slam ball but when I slam it, it loses its spherical shape and become like a pancake/sack. Id bought and returned a 15kg slam ball of the same brand because it wasn't heavy enough but that didn't have this issue. Would this be happening because of the extra weight or might it be a defective piece? Any help would be appreciated 😇
Uploaded an image of it @Mark, it basically becomes likes an oval shape. 6 months? But I literally just got it yesterday :( rolling around does make it round again but it's back to being a pancake on the first slam. I'm just confused as to why this didn't happen at all with the 15kg and why it's so extremely outta shape on being slammed with the 20kg :/
Where were you 20 year's ago....I may not get back to where was but thanks for slowing down the rate of decline to this fat old school karate martial artist.
@@MarkWildman thanks Mark I made some clubs with concrete and 2 liter plastic bottles. Just need to work on impingement of my shoulder. I'm doing my PT but if you have anything to "add" to aid in recovery, I'm listening.... Best, Peter
This slam ball series is amazing! Thank you!

Sitting in seiza is a pain, but if you can sit in it without any discomfort then that's a pretty good sign.

@@MarkWildman Thank you. I was just curious. I appreciate your reply.
I've been working reverse nordic curls, I can easily add this to the mix. Without a slamball for now.
Great!
Where in the USA is the amazing landscape that you are so often showing in your videos? Thank you very much for your excellent instruction!

@@MarkWildman Thank you. California is such a beautiful state. Our family lived at Ford Ord in Monterey County when I was a young child.

How flat is flat. They deform a bit, and they pancake a bit if they are left on the floor for 6 months. Rolling them around usually solves it
Maybe it has gone flat. Try pumping it up

I've ordered a replacement from Amazon. Going to see if another piece has a similar issue.

I think I'm gonna do/try this with my KBs...
Hugging them or with a goblet hold?
