As mentioned in the video, the foregrip nut tightens up snug against the reel seat with the reel they show in the video, and holds it perfectly. Just know that you need to make sure that the the foot of the reel you're planning to use will be snug in the seat when everything is tightened down. I have two similar size reels and the foot of one of them (an ABU Garcia DM 62) fits perfectly, but the foot of the other (a Shimano FX 2000) still slides back and forth well over a 1/4" when the reel seat is completely tightened down making that reel unusable with this setup. Even though it appeared to get tight on the reel foot of the DM 62 just as the foregrip nut bottomed against the reel seat, I sanded the end of the nut about 1/16" just to make sure I could truly tighten the foregrip nut. All in all, this hidden foregrip kit Mudhole has put together is very nice and otherwise very straightforward to install. However sometimes custom stuff comes with custom issues and if you're using a light or ultralight reel, it will be best to measure twice so you only need to install once.
If you want that same handle setup, it does come in a size 17 which would be perfect for that 3000/4000 size. You can also use any barrel style spinning seat in size 17 or 18 for that size reel as well.
Looking to get this reel seat setup. But I would like to flip it upside down to where the long cork is on top. Do you think this would work? I'm worried about the locking nut being too big and in the way when making a cast.
Love the Fuji hidden thread foregrip. Not a rod maker myself. I'm thinking about it since no company makes a quality rod with a full grip and hidden thread foregrip anymore. How about a kit to modify the junk they sell now back to something fishable?
The best system , light , confortable , sensitive !
This looks like a winner...

That hood prevents you from a nice butt wrap it appears. Is that correct?
