I agree, the timeless child just ruins the character of the doctor for me. It makes the whole last of the time lords and the master and the doctors relationship so much less impactful because the doctor was never Gallifreyan and the doctor and the master were a great pair because they were equals, now the doctor is a god. Also it creates huge continuity errors with the Tardis being a Police Box prior to the 1st doctor stealing it and the chamelena circuit getting stuck in 1963. It had also been established many times that timelords evolved regeneration from exposure to the untempered skism and exposure to the time vortex, hence the whole river song having timelord dna now makes no sense either.

It does make those things very less impactful! It also makes the Doctor special for creating the timelords which puts this chosen one thing on the Doctor which I can't stand. To me the Doctor is special for the things he did for the universe not for being born and creating the time lords

Flux was such a big event that did alot of damage that it would have been weird for them to move on and act like it never happened and Chibnall never addressed the consequences of it fully and how it would impact The Doctor emotionally
So I appreciate Davies showing just how guilty the doctor feels over it and you get how much damage it actually caused beyond seeing it in the series itself
I'm not sure if they'll add more to the timeless child stuff but the way the copy of Donna delivered the line of the doctor not knowing where he comes from did sound really cool and ominous, and if they decide to address it later on I'm sure RTD can make sense of it and do a better job of it. And due to how big of a change the timeless child twist was, it's something they unfortunately can't just gloss over and act like never happened either
And I'm glad it wasn't a multi-doctor story, don't get me wrong I love them but we already had that in the 50th and Power of the doctor already included alot of doctors so it would feel a bit boring if they just did it again and it's too soon to do that again, plus not every anniversary episode has to be like that or it will become very predictable so I'm glad Davies is doing something that. Saying that, I am excited to see Toymaker and I'm pretty sure Mel is gonna be in it next week as we haven't seen her yet

I appreciated the references to the Timeless Children and Flux because it proved Doctor Who wasn't ashamed of itself like so many certain RUclipsrs want it to be.
One of, if not the biggest criticism I have for the Jodie Whittaker era is that it went an entire season without referencing its own past at all.
The fact that this new era goes out of its way to reference something like this and only Episode 2 is quite an improvement imo

One thing is with is you said about Newton. The 4th Doctor (Tom Baker) states that he dropped an apple on his head, and then later over tea he explained the theory of Gravity to Newton..so this opener was a throw back..
Also he was never a an original timelord..in the series The Mind of morbius when 4th doc has a mind bending battle with morbius it shows 8 different regenerations before the 4th making the 4th technically the 12th..so the timeless child is being taken from the 70s and being developed more..so I would definitely suggest watching Doctor Who before Eccleson, before making statements about history being stupid..

That the fugitive Doctor is the Doctor from another universe and that’s why she has the same police box as the 13th at the time. For no matter what universe you go through, they’ll always be a Doctor to save the day. This keeps the idea that the fugitive doctor having separate memories from our Doctor because she is really from another universe. I personally had no problem with the concept of it. The execution was another issue but overall, it shocked me and blew my mind more than anything I'd seen in the show before! And considering our previous Gallifrey episode, Hell Bent had NOTHING going for it I was excited for this revelation.
But seeing in this episode that not only did Russell NOT retcon it, he DOUBLED DOWN and validated the Timeless Child AND Flux! It brought me such joy to see whinging fans put in their place. What I meant is if the timeless child is something that is going to be continued to be referenced or explored in the future then I won't watch or review that cause I don't like the idea of the Doctor being anything other than a normal time lord from Gallifrey. Also I felt the flux was horrible so I didn't like that they are going to be exploring the aftermath of it. Based on this episode it looks like we will be exploring how the Doctor is feeling from those events in the next episode which is frustrating to me. It wont be akin to a movie. Fully agree. I despised the very premise of Timeless Child and Flux, yet if RTD handles them well I can at least say they got better later. Completely ignoring both makes no sense from a narrative standpoint, and while stories have been left behind in the show's history it was never to that extent. In all honesty, there's a fair chance TC turns out to be a lie, specifically to mess with the Doctor, but whatever happens I'd be happy to actually conclude it so we can hopefully move on to better plotlines.

@@harryunderwood9387 Exactly. Ignoring plot lines that people didn’t like initially just to try to please them is exactly how you get something like The Rise of Skywalker, a film that cowardly backtracks on basically everything the previous film tried to set up instead of working it into a more satisfying narrative organically. In contrast, The Legend of Korra Book 3 is a good example of taking something people weren’t fond of (Book 2), and using its framework to tell an interesting story. That’s what Doctor Who should be doing with the Timeless Child and Flux

How could he fix it? The only way to fix the timeless child for me is if he retcons it as to having the Doctor no longer being the timeless child which is something I do not want because there are fans that like that idea and I feel like we could just ignore instead just like how we ignore the Doctor being half human. The Doctor to me is a time lord who escaped Gallifrey with his granddaughter to explore the universe and in doing so became the best thing to ever happened for the universe. I don't like the idea of the Doctor being special for also being the creator of the timelords which puts this chosen one thing on the Doctor which I hate. I really think we should just ignore it and explore new ideas. New concepts that the show has never seen before and just leave the Doctors past alone. Maybe we can also bring back classic who villains and maybe even bring back Susan cause where the hell has she been for all these years like this poor man needs to be reunited with his granddaughter lol. I'm sure he could fix it and maybe make it bearable for most people but if thats the Doctors origin then it ruins the character for me. I also don't like the idea of Pre Hartenell Doctors too which is a whole other set of problems that I don't feel like getting into lol

@@Film1000Channel Actually, I fully sympathise with your point. It's a very messy plot point to handle, for damn good reasons, and I honestly don't see an easy solution that would make everyone happy. But, if you abandon it, those same people who (for some unearthly reason) like that storyline will still be infuriated. Let's face it, nobody will be happy with how it's resolved, but some ideas I've heard about have more acceptable details. Not much more acceptable, but still.
For example, the idea that the Doctor genuinely was just an ordinary born-and-raised Gallifreyan (maybe the Loom comes into play here), yet when Eleven was given a new set of regenerations, he was accidentally given infinite ones. So, later on the Doctor ends up having some big adventure against some adversary that ends up causing a regeneration under unusual circumstances (imagine the usual severe injuries, yet maybe they also fall out of the TARDIS and through the Time Vortex?). Regardless, the process is so traumatic and unusual, that it severely impacts the Doctor's memories and regeneration, turning them into a child. They land right where the Timeless Child was found, and the story goes as explained. It's the standard self-contained time loop, with the Time Lords securing their own past, though my god is it a stretch.

@@harryunderwood9387 I actually thought of that idea as well. Making the Timeless Child a closed loop is a cool idea and VERY Doctor Who. Still isn't perfect as it wouldn't explain how the Fugitive Doctor exists and has the phone box TARDIS but it's at least worth considering instead of just throwing it away and hoping nobody notices.

It's to distract from the 'Gay Doctor' jokes and Horrible Histories Newton scene - as well as the fact the story is mashed together bits of Planet of Evil, Terminus, 42, The Lazarus Project, The Two Doctors, Four To Doomsday, Underworld, Terror of the Zygons, Slipback; even Meglos (to name but 8 or more) and that episode of Star Trek (let alone any fiction) that had the evil 'dopplegangers' and an isolated location in peril and 'inperilling'. An argument for writers on the show who have never actually watched DW to be given gainful employment - as at least they can only unintentionally homage or plagiarise by happenstance. A desperate roll of the dice to remind us this is post Chibnall Who, not 2006 or 1976?

@@happy-ej2cc viewing figures go up and down. I guess snowflakes will continue crying about every small detail within the show.
If they're not crying about a woman doctor it's pronouns or having a transgender character or having a black doctor or crying about the skin colour of a character that wasn't even in the episode for 5 mins
