I think the reason why he hangs out over there is to cover his backhand, where he can hit a more stable backhand if he needs to. Plus, he already has very good movement to cover his forehand, where it'll be tough for them to hit a good shot to that corner to flip the tables.
First of all, the tees are not, I repeat, not silent. Second of all, Stef is great at the net, but his approaching footwork is horrendous. He can't go closed stance, so he always has to make extra steps and is kinda awkward because he always tries to hit open stance. He's been doing that since he was 14 in Vouliagmeni. At my level, I think most guys go for the down the line pass (or something of a lob) because we get late to the ball 😀. Difficult to hit a good short cross court a la Novak or Med from the run.

Tsissy, lacks proper technique in a lot of areas. Do they hold him back? Yes! Does he recognize that they are weaknesses? I don't think so. I think Tsissy sees himself as a trail blazer. Someone to start new trends in tennis so damn Fed's perfect technique. Unfortunately, to do this successfully, you really have to have tremendous talent to over-come these weaknesses in your game and Tsissy does not. Sometimes, his ego gets in the way of reality. I believe if he doesn't get the proper perspective soon, it will be too late for him as other younger guns will have leap frog over him.
