A pioneering icon of British television and an all-round decent human being. My uncle was a regular viewer of Coronation Street and he loved this lady to bits. It's hard to overestimate what a fixture Elsie Tanner was on the street back then. Goodbye Ms. Phoenix ❤ 😊
Pat came to open Woolco in my town centre and she was pushing a trolley. She said hello to me as we passed each other. My late mother was a regular viewer of Coronation Street and never missed an episode. I told her I had met " Elsie Tanner " in Woolco because she opened it. I told her that she was lovely.
A wonderful actress and a genuinely lovely lady. She was the original queen 👑 of soaps and created an iconic character in Elsie Tanner. I think she'd be thrilled to think 🤔 that Corrie is still going. Thanks for the memories Miss Phoenix ❤ 😊
Saying about bloopers, there was one from the ‘70s where the camera followed Elsie through to the other bar after talking to Betty, and whacked her on the back of the head! I think Helen Worth said when Pat knew she was going to dry up during a scene, she’d bang her hand on the table, that would be the cue for her to come in with something. She was an agony aunt on tvam for a little while and starred in a flop sitcom Constant Hot Water.
Well, sadly, she'd only have had less than 3 years left on the show, had she stayed (she also requested a fixed more time off after her return from 3 years away from the show in the mid 70s)🎩
Elsie left for Portugal with her lover old flame Bill Gregory to open up a bar it was only revealed a couple of year's ago ( by Dennis Tanner ) that both Elsie and Bill were killed in a car accident in Portugal!!
Lovely to see her and hear her voice again.

Middlesbrough bus station, as it is now, was officially opened by her - unfortunately, I wasn’t there to meet her!
What an absolutely lovely and beautiful lady, So open and honest, R.I.P Pat ,
She was VILE , a really nasty bastard . She used to come into my family’s dress shop and they hated her

She was a very good looking lady !
Beautiful woman
She only had 4 years left 😢🎩
At the time she didn't know, she was going to contract lung cancer from her heavy smoking habit
Lung cancer may have already been forming? Who knows?
Always struck me as a really nice woman
Does Gloria swear at 8.53?
'Elsie' left in early 1984 - moved to Portugal. Very abrupt and odd for a major character...and never to be heard of again!
