Very interesting 👍👍👍 I recently switched the barrel tensioner for the standard shroud and it seems to have less poi shift now - which doesnt really make sense to me. Anyway I want to test this way of clamping the barrel. People seem to get good results. Looking forward to hearing about your results 😎
The tuner still helps VERY WELL even though you now have a non free floating barrel. I have an M3 and installed a new Saber Tactical TRS M4 rail. The new ones are full length with a thicker backbone than stock. I went ahead and installed the barrel clamp and tested with .25cal at 33M. Pellet in Pellet hole at the 3rd large line on that tuner. The new TRS rails are $300 so you probably don't want to go that route since you already have a rail but it does include the clamp.
I have a carbon shroud too i used the end of the FX shroud so it still screws on the end of the barrel like the original. I have a aluminium collar over the barrel at the breach and it screws onto and it is very rigid it takes all the flex out and I have it on a 600 and 700mm barrel.

That is a problem with the FX's barrels, poi shift. I own a Maverick, Wildcat III and Impact MK II all in 700mm. The only one I have not had to buy aftermarket part for is the Wildcat III. FX knows this is a problem and they should redesign the barrel so that it is more rigid so you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to fix the poi shift for what you pay for the airgun. The aftermarket parts that they sell, that fixes these problems should be on all new airguns. That's why my next gun will not be a FX. It will be a Vulcan 3 HP. I don't have to buy any aftermarket parts.
I use the Saber Tactical top rail with the included barrel clamp. Or you could also use the barrel stifner kit. It's a well known problem for years with FX
Hello Sir, As a passionate prepper, this is something I try to avoid, as reliability in the field is a top priority. I believe Saber Tactical recently came out with an aluminum barrel band, and Terminador Industries has on occasion, made a barrel band for an Impact made of a tough polymer. That’s why I never felt comfortable buying an FX, until the DRS.,I am considering a DRS Pro, but first I’m getting a .25 Altaros M24, now capable of 97 f.p.e, 2 world records, and nearly a mil spec replica of its powder burner equivalent. Again, a Terminador barrel band would secure both your barrel and carbon fiber bottle. Have you looked at American Air Arms? Every rifle they make has a tensioned barrel with magazines made of tool steel, as opposed to plastic. It bothers me when any high end air gun uses plastic in their magazine design. I look for air guns with the least amount of vulnerabilities. Be well and be safe.

Been running Impacts for over 6 years. You are only adding variables by adding the carbon shroud/tuner. While there can be advantages to running a more rigid barrel, most poi shifts on the stock setup are due to tune. A compact impact is much less susceptible so anyone who was looking at it go for it. There are plenty of good rifles out there, anyone saying FX is not top tier is lying to themselves and you. They all have their issues.

@Dogeatdogworld-k5 they all pretty much shoot straight and great when you buy any high end PCP but it's about having a good quality gun that's gonna last for years to come and not fall apart. And the other thing is it easy to work on and take apart if something does go wrong with a o ring or regulator or what ever else. That's why I look into a gun deeply and make sure there made with few parts and are easy to fix yourself and 2 PCPs I know that are like that is the EDGUN LESHYI 2 and any of the EDGUNS and the TAIPAN PCPs like the TAIPAN TACTICAL with the Kevlar bottle.
